An interesting and necessary read for every person who has at one point or other felt like a confused bastard.
Book Cover: That is what intrigued me about this book in the first place. It is simple, yet appealing to the eyes. That human brain design reminds me of the sketches from It's Kind of a Funny Story Brain Maps! Shows all the thoughts and idea we have.
Characters: Our three main confused Bastards (protagonists) are Aakash, Jai and Vivek. Although their nature is so different from each other, one thing links them all. They are all conflicted and best of friends. That shows in the way they talk to each other and know each other inside out.
Plot and Theme: It was brilliant. With the current entrepreneurial wave, this book describes the strength it takes to take that plunge, and how struggling it can be. I liked how we get the side-stories of personal lives of characters and it is not all about ihafa. (Nice name though) *silent laughter

Overall:
The writing style is so natural and you can easily tell that this book is for the youth. The same old drinking, cursing, partying, worrying about careers and girls. This book was written cleverly. A focused aim with a whole lot of entertainment. I'm so impressed by the creativity. The Mahabharta Club, ihafa, this was a fast-paced enjoyable book.

Confused bastards is a nice attempt at narrating a story that is set out to be different than most contemporary novels. Although with a slightly slow flow to it, in the middle it faces mid life crisis but recovers well and good through some well written passages and conversations that are both insightful and witty as well.
So, what really goes through the mind of three young people when they screw up and yes, they screw up quite badly. The story goes somewhat on these lines and Manav Vigo has tried to use contemporary language that the millennial speak.
If you understand Millenials, you will relate with the book.
3.5 stars for a good read that surprises you!

My transition book - read this thru 2016 into 2017 - related with a lot of the story with what's going on.
Honest Confession - When I started out, I didn't really like it... but, once I was 51 pages in (My thumb rule – I will give every book 50 pages to interest me or else I give up on it (sigh!)!), I got engrossed & enjoyed :)
What attracted me? - The book cover again! multicolor and going crazy - Yaay!
The book was recommended by @Writersmelon & * I received a review copy from them in exchange for an honest review.
The story is about 3 friends - 3 boy-men from our times today - they are equally confused with life and the options as we are!
The comradeship and entrepreneurial spirit I enjoyed reading about. The language at times used certain abusive words which made me cringe - but as I read through, it flowed and made me realize, that indeed the people of today do tend to speak in a language stronger than 'considered' appropriate among our friends.
The writing style generally is smooth, and some lines made me think & re-think certain preconceived responses we have to cliches! and some dialogues/descriptions just made me laugh out loud!
I believe that gut instinct is a strong tool which we must not disregards - I wish the boys have paused in their mad rush to 'become something' & 'do something' and listened to their own uneasiness. But offcourse, if they had, where would be the drama of the story ;-)
Their website - ihafa.in (you have to read the full form to believe how funny this author is!) has it's heart set in the right place, but unfortunately falls prey to the double edged sword, or shall I call it circus of Media and Politicians.
There were some portions/dialogues that made me want to take out my Faber-Castel box & highlight away! Just Brilliant!
My favourite though, has to be the character of Sattu - smart chap! Wish I could catch up over Coffee and have a chat with him someday! I mean, a man who asks 'Have you spoken to God' - how interesting is he! (I re-read this part a few times to absorb the sense he spoke).
The scenes are fun, funny & sweet. Dialogues like 'So Ganesha, wassup man?' makes you want to pull the cheeks of these characters, grin and roll your eyes!
I wish to read this book again in 2017 - For the fun & sense of it, for the writing style & just coz it made me smile :)

the title is perfectly synced and goes well with the story. Confused bastards as the name suggests is a tale of 3 friends who come up with a startup and end up screwing everything n later rectifying it and making it a huge success. well the plot is unusual and perfectly describes today's youth and how their interest lies in business rather than following 9 to 6 daily jobs. when you look at the cover, you might initially get confused but once you are through the book you will realize why the cover is made like that and it perfectly compliments the story, plot and the title. What i liked about this book is the one-liners and how humorously the author has penned down the conversations of the 3 protagonists and the entire story with almost no mistakes is commendable. manav vigg has surely set a benchmark by coming with such an impeccable idea of writing about youth's strata entrepreneurial ideas.
what actually will turn your mood of is the ending and how the girl's rape scene has been portrayed, i think it could have been written of in some different manner. otherwise the book is fine and surely has the potential to become bestseller.

Cover: Well, initially I could not make it up. But then when I read about the cover, I actually was amazed it. Beautiful creativity.

Thoughts: It is the same old story with more entertainment, but it has been written in a different manner and that is what exactly sets its apart. Characterization of Aakash and Vivek were totally justified and to the point. I enjoyed it thoroughly to be honest despite it being so cliched at places.

4 stars for the un-cliched writing, and the cliched story.
Loved it!

I read the these lines by a reviewer before I started.

"The author has kept the story straight and simple and throughout the story, there isn’t a single point where you’re bored. All the jokes strike the right chord and I did Laugh Out Loud at various places. By the end of the book, I wanted to get up, shoot a video of myself admitting that I’m a Confused Bastard.

The story doesn’t seem too unrealistic and the characters involved are totally relatable. We are either one of the characters or we can find them in our friends. Jai, Vivek and Aakash have made it to my list of favorite characters. All their frustrations, their emotions, their problems are things we keep stumbling upon almost everyday in our lives. The confusion that the youth these days face, has been beautifully portrayed in the book, albeit in a witty way. As a bonus, there a few life lessons to take away. The best part about this is that they didn’t seem preachy anywhere."

So, I had great expectations and honestly I was not disappointed at all. It was a wonderfully written story and had a lesson for everyone.

"A good book is one that makes the reader feel. It takes the reader on a compelling journey. Calling a book “good” is an opinion that can be applied to any book. ... The criteria I use to gauge whether a book is worth reading relate to the subject, the genre, and the author."

And Manav Vigg's Confused Bastards is one such book. I am happy to say I read this book over a period of three days, and I throughout enjoyed it. Will recommend it to friends and dear ones.

The storytelling was simply amazing!

Loved the premise, the concept, the characters and everything.
Although I feel the dialogues could have written better but I guess it adds to the charm of the story.
Confused Bastards takes you on a roller coaster ride that makes you laugh and think about the society and the Youth.
Wonderfully written, well thought and narrated.
You would actually wish if knew characters such as Sattu in real life at the end of it.
Good book!

My take on the book
Entrepreneurship is engineering the world and its people in an effective manner.Even the much hyped entrepreneur where the ones who started from the base land .Knowledge about it hasn't been imparted due to the regular mechanism of the society .A writer is one who breaks the stereotype by penning a vigorous rebelling thoughts .It takes more will to write on such a delicate but significant subject which is a vein of today's mankind. Each day we see loads of youths in our path who tries to carve their own shape of success with perseverance filled with a colossal amount of hardships on their daily lives .Title is suitable as the three leads aren't firm enough in the decisions they make. Some decisions are delayed due to low self confidence and some due to other issues. The journey made by the three are written in two hundred and fifteen pages. Symbolising the confusions encountered by the characters each chapter is embedded with a question mark by the chapter headers.

Aakash is a person of changes he shifts often in business and personal life, with a well built frame.Jai is trapped inside the illusionary effect of inferiority complex, which is driven away by his buddies Aakash and Vivek .Vivek is a positive soul.Three of them are connected by their passionate obsession for entrepreneurship and friendship .Cover image is a replica of the human brain with variation in the colours which defines the thought patterns which switches from one to another in a regular scheme leading up to the perplexions of the trio. For all the youngsters who are undergoing a hard pace in their startups it's a must read for you all to overcome the fears and frustrations of your life .

Confused Bastards by Manav Vigg is a book consisting of witty narration and relatable characters. Our main characters, the three musketeers — Aakash, Jai and Vivek become the voice of the nation with their online website where they start an unapologetic wave of online venting where they rant about things they feel are wrong and share their opinions. However, the virtual world can also be a foe if you start seeking the dark corners of web.

The book reminded me a bit of a movie 'Bhavesh Joshi' where a bunch of friends start a YouTube channel where they upload videos, all of it goes well until it all takes a dramatic turn.

I really liked the concept in the movie and wondered how it'd be like if someone wrote a book about it so I was really excited when I got my hands on this one.

The narrative is strong and still easy to read. The characters are distinct and their voices are different yet somehow you can relate to all of them including their flaws. The title is funny and relevant to the story. The cover is simple yet elegant. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to everyone.

The title of this book is so catchy, that I decided to order it as soon as my friend suggested it to me. Well, both of us being youngsters could connect extremely well with the book.

The discontent being faced by the three main characters of Akash, Jai and Vivek is humorous, sometimes witty and much fun to read.

This one is a light and relaxing read of about 4-5 hours and is sure to make you feel relatable at many points which is enjoyable by most of the young readers.

Personally I loved the title and cover even more than the story. So kudos to that!

The chapters each describe different incidents for some of them and later it is more about the platform these 3 co-create.
It is a pleasure to read how and what problems they face in their new startup and how they overcome the same, or do they fail?
Well, I suggest you grab your copy and find out.

The blurb of the book captures the essence of the story perfectly. The book is about three friends from diverse backgrounds and with very different personalities coming together to start their own little online business. Their start up is about providing people with a place to vent out their frustrations, whether be about their lives, careers, partners or just about anything under the sun. The platform takes off like wild fire. But will it bring the three entrepreneurs what they were aiming for?

The three friends are Vivek, Akash and Jai. They have such diverse personalities that it made me wonder how they were friends in the first place. But as the story progressed, it was clear that their friendship is what made them strong. True they may have their own share of ups and downs, but it is their diverse personalities that make them stick together. One picked up the slack where others lacked. The characters are well developed on the whole.

The story turned out to be more than I initially expected. It reflects our youth today perfectly. To some extent this piece of fiction is based on our reality (especially our affinity for anything online) so much that it is pretty easy to relate to the plot.

What irked me was the language used. Aside from chapter names like Hum Saare Bekkar, Karne Chale Vyapaar, Kahaani Mein Twist and Chuddy Buddy…, the book is sprinkled with what I call social media lingo. This is one of my quirks that I just can’t get over with – Please authors, stop using social media lingo and everyday slangs in your books. For me literature is different from everything else and it should be given the respect it deserves. If I want to read such language, I will open my Facebook or Instagram or Twitter; why should I spend hours reading your book if it has nothing new to offer to me?

Let us just say that this is what works in India.
Cheesy lines, carefree characters, abusive language, that startup thing, and all same old stuff.
Because we love stereotypes and all chetan bhagat like authors.
So hurray to Indian writing and all those readers who read such stuff!
Seriously, the Indian author fraternity, enough with this.
Write better stories.
This author has so much potential and yet he chose to write this.
What can I say?

As I started with this Novel I found it very interesting and I continued with it as it had a gripping story which made me to have a start to finish journey with it. I was so attached with it that I was not able to leave it in between. The three friends are just adorable and their dilemmas very relatable. The story is a hilarious yet sensitive journey. Its a must read for college going people and for those who want to make their own start-up.

When people talk about books, I look at the entertainment value. I simply cannot pick up a huge book and not understand a bit of it, and also not read anything that anyone writes.
Confused Bastards is a book that I enjoyed and it also entertained me. I could personally revisit most of my memories in the book, it i so retell-able.
The concept, the author has come up with is amazing, and most importantly he never lets it get boring.
We have been all there, and the author has just written what we all think and what to do. And that in a n amazing manner.
I read the e-book, but I still saw the cover and I think it is amazing.

Could totatlly connect myself with the characters, they way they talk, the way they tought, of all I know I might have been soing something as scandalous as them.
Point is, I could feel them throughout the book, and what satisfied me was an apt ending. Not too hyped, not too dramatic. To the point and justified.
You need to be at the tip of your skills to write such an entertaining book and the author has done that.

Confused bastards is an epic tale of the youth that transpire and hatch a plan that backfires, and how they innovatively deal with them.
I loved the flow of the story in the stretch and the concept behind the cover of the book.
One thing that stood out for me was how easily things were made connectable with real people. It is an art authors seldom use.
Confused Bastards goes into my 2017 shelf, right at the top 10.

So, ihafa.in happened to me last night and I fell in love with these characters. What a brilliantly imagined story. It is smart, funny and witty. The language used is a bit cringe but then that is how we talk. don't we?
I wish I could go on a date with all these guys and marry one of them. I am in love with them. I was rolling on the floor laughing as I was reading the book.
A sure shot recommended read, I would ask you to personally read it if I could.
