The 4 books in the set are all page turners! Maybe it helped that I've spent a lot of time in the very area where the action is set. I can see the remoteness of the North Shore and the Keewenaw Penninsula and can imagine the scenes created by Mr. Lake. Let's hope that, should there be a disaster as described, our humanity survives as well as it has in these pages.

I've said it all in the subject line!
Believable characters and events. I'd like to see more of their lives up to where the narrative began in the first book.

An enjoyable read

The main character is definitely clueless and does a lot of things that are foolish, but I believe that makes it so enjoyable. He's not the elite survivalist or the knowledgeable prepper, just an ordinary guy that woke up to a brand new world situation he never imagined could/would happen. If you're expecting the guy that always overcomes, this isn't the series for you. If you want a series that takes you through the gamut of the less prepared, it is definitely that, and certainly a nice change of pace from the usual books in this genre.

Good

It’s good. I don’t like it as much as the other two, but it wasn’t a terrible ending. Spoilers for some of it.""...................................................".......................".........................................................................................".....

I DIDN’t like the way Marge just up and left her kids. I was also pretty upset with the way that Daisy just left Libby. I know she was kidnaped, but it seems to me she would have wanted to go back for Libby before going to New York.

A bit of a Chore.

I enjoyed the first installment greatly, the second was pretty good also, The third, a little predictable but ok. This one, like the mood swinging teen/woman that soon became the focus, was tedious to endure. Men shouldn't try to write about women's feelings. We know nothing about them and have even less knowledge of the inner workings of the female mind. None the less, this author attempts it in this semi-final installment in this series. It was not pretty.

Great series

I thoroughly enjoyed this series of books. I had a hard time putting it down and immediately would open the next book as soon as I finished the last chapter on the previous book. I hated to see it end. With the current coronavirus pandemic going on, it was a little discerning to be reading this type of book. But, it did what books are suppose to do; take you to another place or another time.

Okay conclusion, but not great

Happy endings are fine, but this story veered too much into a weird love triangle, almost "Fatal Attraction", love story rather than a survival story. Nevertheless, it has some decent twists and turns. If you've read the 3 other books, you'll want to finish this one.

The No Where books

This is not a survivalist book chock full of helpful tips. It's not a Zombie book. It is a book about relationships, the making of family. It's a commentary on the changes that adversity has on different people, with rich characters. It simply is a satisfying book and series.

Great novels which read like a good tv show

I was not aware if this writer when deciding to try out this series. But the story gor to me and I found myself having finished all of them in a short time period. Realistic, likeable characters and exciting events that kept me hooked. A recommended series that will make you look for more

I kinda feel like I read a book that was meant to wrap up a different series really.

SPOILERS FOLLOW

Daisy leaves her kid behind? Lettie just sort of moves on? Nate does the same? Marge disappears? These are all pretty odd moves for the characters we read for 3 books. Wilson just randomly showing up and having a seemingly huge farm that wasn't discussed at all for a few books was weird too. The relationship with Violet, which to be frank was pretty transparently pushed thruout the series was pretty creepy overall, pedophilia doesn't really make for a good read ever and their "relationship" had some extra creepy moments with Hope and how it started.

The main character was never very likable, but with that? Even less so. It's sad because when you held it at a distance and squinted, it was a decently well done series with a more believable than most post apocalyptic story. In the end though the writer pretty obviously wanted to end the series fast and kinda shoehorned his characters into different actions to make it happen.

If you told me that E.A Lake didn't wrote the last book, or an assumed name for a group of authors and a different author wrote the last book.....I wouldn't be surprised at all.

In fact, it really explains a lot

I did not enjoy this book one little bit! Which is a shame because the first 3 in this series were great. This one jumped from here to there--quickly-- for no discernible reason. It's as though 5 people wrote some chapters, then threw them together. Had I not enjoyed Books 1 and 2 --and I really did-- I would have put this book aside almost immediately.

I love a good love story and this had all the elements. Humorous, danger, and I enjoy the post apocalyptic genres with hope for the characters. I have never sent in a review for a book before, just the rating. Just enjoyed these books had to let you know.

No where

I loved this series. The way I think the apocalypse should be. All about how people alone would be. Not government and military run. Just off by themselves struggling to make a new life.

I did not enjoy this book as much as the earlier ones. It became too much of a soap opera instead of a survival book. And with the characters misplacing their survival weapons (unthinkable) I could not wait for it to end.

Hmmmm

I have enjoyed these stories & yet I am perplexed by this story as it was somewhat unsatisfying. I wanted Susan & Matt to be punished somehow for their excesses.

Great series

I loved this last book of the series. The only problem I had was I wish that the ending would have faded into the introduction from the first book. Still I loved it.

No, it wasn't a happy ending to the series, but it was a happy ending to book 4. On to book 5!

Overall I enjoyed the series.
I found it to be somewhat realistic in the struggles that would occur in that situation.
I thought it was going to end slightly differently though.

The continuing saga of survival in a world turned upside down. The characters are very well developed and quite realistic. None of them are super survivalists, none are super heros and they all make mistakes, a very realistic book.

The author has the reader both hating and fearing what they will do to the main character and his 'family' of decent people who found themselves in a world where law was meted out by violence, where food was scarce and survival very difficult.

So many situations that the author described are quite plausible and certainly makes one think about how easy we have things in our modern day world of ease and comfort.

The world was thrown back to the early 1800's in one quick moment and will never be the same again. Civilisation hasn't even begun to redevelop. An excellent series of 3 books, so far.

Book #4 is now out !! And it's of the same high calibre as the previous 3 in the series. Gotta read it, you will be glad that you did !!

Realistic situation

This is a great story arc of what could happen during an EMP-ISH collapse.

Not everyone will be in large cities. Indeed, some will be out in the middle of nowhere.

What was especially interesting was the author's use of reestablishing an economy through the rebirth of fishing camps/towns around the Great Lakes. An entire society was built around this very simple premise, and it helped propel the story along.

The author also provided a powerful understanding of how our concepts of distance would change, post-apocalypse. Distances of a few hundred miles become unimaginable obstacles, especially when combined with a harsh northern winter. Not to mention road thieves and wild animals.

Some thing don't change after the apocalypse...especially hormone-driven teenagers. But, I'll leave that for others to confirm by reading the story.

I enjoyed the story, all the books, and recommend.

I created the No Where series. As such, I will refrain from leaving a critical review of my own work.

But how about a few tidbits from my mind?

Book one was the fastest to write. The story idea came to me one day, and three weeks later book one was finished.

Book two was my favorite. Upping the intensity of an already dire situation, the fire, even the death. It felt like I was in No Where, Michigan the entire time.

Book three was the easiest. I knew where this one was headed before I even began.

Book four was the hardest. Not because of the storyline, or the plot movement, or any of the twists and turns. No, it was because I was going to be saying goodbye to people I knew so well. I may have to write a sequel sometime in the future -- because I miss them all so much already!

Really great series

I have really enjoyed this series. The books are a quick read. The series is set in a believable post-apocalypse world, the characters seem real, and the struggles genuine.
