How much trouble can a doctor's appointment be? It depends on whether you're a member of the space freighter Celia’s crew, and where the doctor is. When Captain Meredth Simmons decides to set down on Porto San Lucia, notorious for being the center of organized crime for most of the known galaxy, it's supposed to be for her husband (and the ship’s pilot), Lincoln Simmons to see an eye doctor, which sounds simple enough. Simple enough, that is, until a mob heiress is kidnapped while they are there, sending part of the crew on a desperate hunt for her kidnappers even as others are trying to unravel the mysteries that surround another member of the crew....all the while Lincoln waits to see if his flying days are over for good.
WHAT AN GREAT STORY - HOPEFULLY THERE WILL BE MORE TO COME IN THE FUTURE IN THIS SERIES
If you haven't had the opportunity to read any of N.C. Reed's books, I highly recommend this series as well as the others he's written. The voice in which N.C. writes will leave you feeling as if you are physically right there in the story. STORMCROW: BOOK TWO: BIRDS OF A FEATHER is a very well written book that will hold your interest throughout. The cast of characters are well defined, and you will truly be held in suspense as the action runs from the first book to the last page in the second book in this series. You'll also find yourself routing for the crew of the Celia as they deal with everything from kidnapping of one of the crew's family members, to the relationships between the crew, as well as their relationships with family and friends.
I really enjoyed this book and series and hope you will take the time to read it too and hope you will also enjoy it as well.
N.C. Reed, I really hope you will continue this great series. I am looking forward to more in the near future.
I think I enjoy this one more than the first book. It tells a more cohesive story than the first novel. It focuses heavily on Sean and Tony, maybe a little too heavily. I liked what I read, but would have liked to see more of what the rest of the crew was up to. I am definitely looking forward to the next book in the series.
My only real gripe is the same as with the first book. A cover that has nothing to do with the story (other than literally being a storm and a crow) and way too many typos. The typos in this one were pretty bad at times to where it takes you out of the story trying to figure out what the sentence was supposed to mean. It was almost like somone ran spell check and just replaced everything with the top suggestion without reading for context to see what the word was supposed to be.
I have read all of the fire and in the sky series probably 3 times, I really don't care for space books, but let me say I really enjoyed thus series. I saw that this came out in 2016, which is a bummer because I want to see what happens next. Please write another Storm Crow Book. !!!!
I really enjoyed this writer's style. I did not enjoy the number of simple grammar and spelling errors. I would love to see and read another book tying up the loose ends
Fun story, some.great characters, some half baked characters, but mediocre to poor editing. "as a powerful arm wrapped around him throat." , the prevalence of such errors emphasized the amateur status of this publication. There is nothing so distracting that it prevents enjoying the story, but we'll edited it would be easy to rate it higher.
I will cheerfully but and read more from this author, so long as the price point reflects the quality of the publication.
Aside.to the author if I may: The Captain's naivete in personnel management is growing old. Anyone who has had a crew of hands for a few years would not make the gaffes in these stories.
I very much enjoyed getting to the characters in both Stormcrow books. I found myself unable to put them down when bedtime came, therefore I had many late nights. The characters were believable and so alive. Their problems and interaction were like the problems most of us encounter in our own lives. I loved that it was set in the future and yet their advancements were not unbelievable. Thanks for the great books and when will a sequel be out?
I really wanted to like this series because I love N. C. Reed. I really think I hate Lucy and she's not even real but I could find absolutely no redeeming qualities in her. I guess that is a kudos to Reed; to know a character well enough to spark such a strong emotion from the readers. Well, this book does not have a complete story so, there probably should be another book but honestly if it is all about the girl then, I don’t think I’ll read it; unless I get it free as an Audio book. Maybe.
That's right. I'm crazy about him.... Well his writing to be specific. One of the best story tellers I have come across. Doesn't matter which of his books you read. So entertaining. Very exciting! Just finished another one and I have to have more! Reads so easy it's like eating oysters.
Great story. Not necessarily a SPACE opera as it could have been in any setting. The character development is extraordinary with a surprise with every revelation.
