Scoop the Poop: Pick Your Battles

I woke up in the morning in a zombie state. I struggled to get the kids off to school. I talked myself into getting ready for work. I packed lunches, checked backpacks, planned crock pot meals, and wished I was somewhere else. Yes, that's right. I wished I was somewhere other than my kitchen listening to my children fight over the last pack of fruit snacks. I dreamt about a life that was less stressful and more enjoyable. These thoughts made me cry on the way to drop off my kids at school. These thoughts made me feel like a terrible person. These thoughts made me feel like I was the worst Mother on the planet. I was ashamed to have these thoughts. I felt like I was failing at life. I was overworked, under appreciated, and dreaming of wanting more. Why wasn't I happy? Life seemed to be a chronic shit storm and I was the imbecilic meteorologist who forgot her umbrella. I decided that I needed to chase my dreams. I decided I had to find a way to scoop the poop and find my passion.

As Mom's we can get wrapped up in the cycle of trying to be the "perfect Mom" and feeling like the worse Mom. I discovered Meredith on Facebook, watching her videos and I loved her honesty and humor. So many other Mom bloggers try to be and look perfect and I love that Meredith is not like this.

Many of us think when we become parents we will always have this in love feeling with our child so when we go through the normal lows and frustrations we feel we have failed as a parent. This is a simple and quick read but will have you laughing and realizing how normal you truly are.

Meredith Masony is a hilarious and real mother of three. She minces no words and makes you feel like you are not crazy. You just need to scoop the poop. Her message is positive (deal with your crap already!) and doesn't overlook the fact that being a mom is hard. Being a wife is hard. Adulting is hard. There are joys. But most importantly, don't lose yourself on your quest to be a good mom. If you aren't already following That's Inappropriate on Facebook and listening to the Take It or Leave it Podcast with Tiffany Jenkins, you're missing out. Run, don't walk, and start reading this book. You'll laugh and you'll cry as you feel like you're talking with your best friend about the realities of motherhood.

Meredith Masony has written an inspiring book full of personal insights into her life. She is funny, kind and thoughtful, outspoken and brash but with a raw vulnerability that is upfront and honest. It is her personal quest to reach out and touch the lives of those who for whatever reason can't speak up for themselves. In her own words, "Life is messy and it's ok to talk about it". She's up in your face with no apologies and I, for one, loved her book. Highly Recommended.

I have followed Meredith for a number of years, so it was really interesting to read about how she got started on her blog and created 'That's Inappropriate'. There were also aspects of her life that I did not know, such as her cancer scare and her difficulties in starting a family. This a book that a lot of mother's can relate to and it is refreshing to read a real account about the daily struggles and pit falls of raising a family.

Such a good book. It's a bit repetitive and the word poop ends up not seeming like a real word 🤣 but it's so relatable to us mom's out there! Everything she has written about I have personally felt and it's refreshing knowing that I am not alone!

As a new mom I find it hard to juggle my inner thoughts with the chaos of a growing little one. This book made me remember that we are all human and to give myself grace. I enjoyed the raw emotions and real talk. This was a great read for parents new and experienced.

Loved this. A fun easy read. With two kids and a husband I've been with longer than apart everything Meredith writes strikes close to home.

I have fallen in love with Meredith and her family. She is a down to earth, tell it like it is person. She seems to break down what we all think and feel in a way anyone can relate.

Typos & spacing issues aside, this was a quick, fun read. I love her videos and hope her new book (coming out in the fall) is even better.

I love Meredith Masony's blog at That's Inappropriate, and her videos on YouTube make me wipe tears of laughter so I wanted to laugh when I read her new book, "Scoop the Poop." While I certainly laughed at the humorous parts, most of this book was kind of a self help book. I generally don't like or read those. Masony is genuinely talented at writing and so funny. But she sincerely has a message in this book about picking battles in life and how to chase your dreams once you're a busy wife and mother. I appreciated her passionate desire to share her point of view. It was a very well cultivated premise and she did a good job with the book. I mostly am assigning a 3 - star rating because I hoped for a humor - driven look at family life and got more of an advice book than I bargained for.

Amazing Book!!

Meredith...every word on every page of this book spoke volumes to me, resonated with my daily struggles as a single mom by choice. From the highs of having the most incredible days with my son to the lows of being unemployed for the past six months and having to ask for help...from having to laugh at shit-stained underwear to crying in my car questioning whether I'm doing this whole thing right.

Thank you for sharing your most mundane and important poop for those of us shovel-bearing moms who repeat "I'm done" 80 times a day. You just reassured me that I'm ok and doing my best...I REALLY needed to know that.

Again, thank you!!

Sincerely,

Joy Costa

Love Meredith

I first found her on Facebook, I saw the man cold vs. Mom cold and thought omg this is so true so I looked her up and found the that's inappropriate Facebook page. Everything she said resonated with me . I wish she had been doing this when my kids were little and I felt alone in feeling the way I felt . As my children get older and I do too I finally learned to scoop the poop alone and only after I learned that did I find Meredith. I am glad to be a part of her community. I love her videos and this book was well worth the read it reminds me to continue to scoop my own poop and that I am not alone . Thank you!!

This was a cute little book full of wit, humor and honesty. It's presented in a very raw and authentic way that only the moms out there will understand! It's refreshing to read a voice that's actually SAYING what all the rest of us are thinking... I just felt like the same things were being reiterated over and over and over and over. I can definitely appreciate the heart that was behind the honesty though, and give major props to the author for giving power to her dreams.

I love this book

This is real. This is deep. I laughed and I cried. I cried because of the realness. I laughed because I'm like yay I'm not the only one. It has helped me realize I am scooping way to much poop.

I am not sure if there is a book that I have ever been able to relate to as much as Scoop the Poop. I think so many times we are so caught up in being the perfect mom/wife/coworker/housewife that we forget that having more "okay" days that "bad" days is a win!

Mom life

She writes about real stories and life. It took her a long time to be discovered and the book gave me some hope. I laughed, I cried and it was definitely a ride.

Really good light reading. I skipped parts of it because I felt it repeated itself in several places. I am looking forward to another book by her.
