Geoff finally got used, and I finally like him. Now that I get to see what over arching story that he is part of I can finally enjoy his character in this book. I kind of feel bad for Geoff in this book, which makes me feel bad about hating him.
Heather's past gets to be fleshed out a little bit in this book with the aid of Kate. Knowing Heather in the series it seems hard to believe that she would hang around with someone like her, but then again it was mentioned that she was a different person.
I enjoyed but also disliked that the Kelly was the victim in this book when his wife was a victim only 2 books prior. I have no love loss with the Kelly family, but it was a little odd.
Heather is the PI but her witty bestie Amy is always by her side. Amy says anything on her mind. Finally solved the mystery of Geoff. Short easy read and I always get stumped on who the killer is.
Another good story from Susan Gillard. I like these stories because they are clean, not gory, and have short chapters. An enjoyable, quick read. Highly recommended.
Donut Delights bakery owner and donut maker, Heather Shepherd, is once again investigating a murder in her hometown of Hillside, Texas.
Kenneth Kenny has had his share of difficulties this year. His wife was murdered, his daughter put in jail, and now someone has shot and killed him in his own home. Not a good year at all.
Heather has once again been hired by the Hillside Police Department as a Private Investigator to help figure out why Kenneth was killed. But she has some problems of her own. Her nemesis, Kate Laverne, is in town. Heather and Kate met when they two lived in New York City where Kate tried to male Heather’s life miserable but why is Kate in Hillside?
Heather soon finds out why Kate has made an appearance in Texas. Kate’s brother is Geoff Lawless, Heather’s donut-making competitor. And Heather soon discovers that Kate and Geoff have another brother, Charles, who is also in Hillside.
Kate has invested in Geoff’s horrible bakery, Delightful Donuts, and wants to do what she can to destroy Heather’s donut business. There are other investors as well: Georgia Summers, Kenneth Kenny’s business partner and best friend, and Kenneth Kenny himself. Heather is starting to wonder if Kate, Geoff, Charles, and Georgia have anything to do with Kenny’s death. Was there some kind of trouble between all the investors?
As Heather and her best friend Amy Givens start to investigate they discover that Kenneth had an argument with one of his investment partners and there are signs that Kenny might have had a relationship with a woman.
Geoff Lawless has been acting strange too. He seems to be almost afraid of his sister Kate and brother Charles. Something weird is going on in Hillside and Heather knows she has to figure out what that is in order to find the murderer.
“Choc Churro Murder” is the 25th book in author Susan Gillard’s Donut Hole Cozy Mystery Series. There’s a reason why this series is so popular. All the books are fun and easy to read, gives fans a nice little mystery to figure out, they’re filled with likable recurring characters, and every book features a new delicious donut. What could be bad?
Every two weeks Ms. Gillard creates a new mystery so there are plenty of books for fans to read during the upcoming winter. Don’t miss out on this nice series.

Choc Churro Murder is the 25th installment in this series and is a fun, quick, and easy read with no gratuitous sex, violence, or foul language. The characters are well developed and the mystery was interesting but more editing and proofing are needed.
Heather Shepherd’s newest assignment from the Hillside PD is to investigate the murder of Kenneth Kenny who was shot in the chest in his home. In a previous installment, Kenneth’s daughter was arrested for the murder of her mother. While investigating the murder, Geoff Lawless, her rival who had previously been missing, shows up along with his sister, Kate Laverne, and his brother, Charles Lawless. Heather was surprised to learn that Geoff had siblings and to realize she knew his sister when she lived in New York City, where Kate did her best to make Heather’s life miserable.

Heather and Amy are at it again after another body is found. She runs into an old acquaintance and finds out she is Geoff's sister and the backer of his donut shop. Of course there is more involved so Heather and Amy set out to find the killer and to figure out what is going on with Geoff. Great read and I really love this series. Reading this series always makes me want donuts especially the ones described in the story. Ready for the next book in the series and with Thanksgiving around the corner maybe a cranberry donut.
Susan Gillard has once again managed to have me on the edge of my seat!!!
Heather Shepherd is in the kitchen and on the case, in this, the 25th book of the Donut Hole Mystery series. She teams up again with her husband Ryan and best friend Amy to bring an end to the mayhem and murder, all the while working to provide the best donuts in town and raise her foster daughter Lily. If you like the sugary goodness of deep fried dough and a cup of amazing coffee with a side of murder, Choc Churro Murder is the book for you.
In Heather's 25th murder investigation, she is looking into the death of a man who was involved in one of her earlier cases. To muddied up things, an old enemy from her past is in town and out to get her. Turns out Geoff Lawless's sister, Kate, is a old friend turned enemy and out to get her and not above using Geoff to do so. She bullies her family and everyone around her. Tying to sort out what Kate is doing to get to her and who did what in the murder get pretty hard to tell the difference but in the end, Heather figures it out with the help of hubby Ryan and best friend Amy.
When Kenneth Kenny turns up dead Heather once again is there to help the Hillside Police with the investigation. Kate Laverne who Heather knew when she lived in New York is in town and related to of all people Geoff Lawless. Is Geoff and Kate any way involved in this murder being that Kate was an investor in Delightful Donuts? Another fun, easy read in this series with characters that I have grown to like.

Heather is back in Book 25 of the Donut Hole Cozy Mysteries, along with her long-time nemesis, Geoff Lawless. I love the way the author handled the "relationship" between Heather and Geoff and brought this book to a satisfying ending. I was kept wondering what was going to happen next. I can't wait to read the next book in this series!
Chocolate, churro and donut this book definitely had my name on it. I have never read this author before but I will be going back and reading the others in this series.
I really did enjoy this book, especially seeing another side of Geoff Lawless and his background. This book will definitely have you "hating" rich people lol. Great book Susan Gillard. I can't wait to read the rest. The only negative is that they didn't explain the donuts this time around.
