I don't have any writing awards or honors or accolades to talk about. I didn't go to college or get any degrees to hang on my walls, but I've always LOVED to read. When I was a kid, my mom always knew where to find me: in my room with my nose in a book. Then in my twenties, I took an extensive creative writing course and I fell in love with writing, too. Making fun things up and writing them down for others to enjoy makes me happy.

Oh, and I also love pizza, chocolate, ballroom dancing, colorful Christmas lights, and watching TV. I live in the Seattle area with my wild and crazy ferrets. :)

This was an excellent sequel to the first magical book in this series. It picked up right where the first book ended, and it was once again an imaginative, fun read but had a bit of a darker feel to it as well with so many secrets, lies, betrayals and surprising twists and turns. One shocking twist in particular concerned Janie, Chase’s cousin, but I won’t say any more for fear of creating a spoiler. You’ll just have to read the book to find out what it is! 

Chase is such a cool character. In this book, he was still a thirteen-year old boy with all the typical teenage angst, awkwardness and stubbornness. But, he also possessed a loyal, brave, inquisitive and protective nature and actually matured quite a bit as the story went along. Andy continued to be a sweet, curious, adorable little boy who liked to eat and tease his older brother but also showed remarkable courage in helping to fight the bad guys. I also really liked Persephone and her protective, caring relationship with both brothers. I liked the introduction of Nori into the magical mix—this brave, strong young girl will definitely be a welcome addition to the future adventures of Chase and his gang of magical heroes.

The book was filled to the brim with fast-paced action, thrilling encounters with the villains, all sorts of different and amazing magical powers, strong themes of family and friendship, and plenty of excitement and chills.

This is an absolutely enthralling and thrilling series for youngsters and adults alike. I would highly recommend it to anyone who has ever dreamed of being a kid capable of shooting fireballs from his or her fingertips or becoming invisible or teleporting instantly from one place to another.

And the plot thickens.....Chase and the gang is still recovering from the deluge of lies and betrayals (in addition to the attack by the Dark Enemy). But in the world of magic there is a secret at every other turn and betrayal is your own shadow.
Janie gets taken by the Marlowes and the rifts among family members are open wide. While preparing for a daring rescue mission to save their cousin and reclaim the lost shard, they find yet another family member (when there weren't supposed to be any). They team up with this new cousin of theirs to save Janie and end the magical career of the Marlowes. However, when have plans worked as they were supposed to?

Leave it to Malia Haberman to build a crescendo of suspense and thrills. Another mindblowing book that further puts to trial bonds of family and friendship with the world at stake.

Pure magic....yet again.

This is the sequel to Chase Tinker and the House of Magic, once again following Chase Tinker and his friends as they are sucked into a whirlwind of crazy adventures. Chase discovers even more of his abilities, and the story continues to be as exciting and fun to read as the first book was. It definitely lives up to the first book and continues to build excitement for the next book in the series, which I'm definitely going to try and pick up as soon as possible!

Recommended for people who enjoy fun, adventurous middle grade reads with kids with magical abilities.

I've had the Chase Tinker books sitting on my Kindle for quite a while. Lately, I've been feeling incredibly guilty for all the review books I have piled up and I finally decided to read them...and I loved it! After reading the first book, Chase Tinker and the House of Magic, I immediately began reading the second book. It was utterly amazing. Malia seemed to do with ease with what the majority of authors struggle with...she wrote a sequel that was even better than the first book.
In this sensational sequel, Chase Tinker has several troubling predicaments plaguing his complicated life. The Shard missing from the Relic is still in the hands of the mirthless Marlowes. The Tinkers' enemies who are becoming exceedingly more ruthless as they try to gain possession of their magic. Chase and the rest of the Tinker household are astonished and fearful when the house's security shield is breached and their cousin is kidnapped by the Marlowes. As they prepare to attack and obliterate the Marlowes (otherwise known as the Dark Enemy) once and for all, more family secrets are revealed, turning family member against family member. Lies will be told, blood will be spilled and loyalty will be scarce. In this phenomenal sequel, with it's abundance of plot twists, everything you thought you knew about the Tinker family will be put to the test.

Chase Tinker and the House of Secrets was utterly incredible! The plot was completely unexpected and I kid you not, at the end of the book I sat there in a silent stupor, utterly dumbfounded by such a shocking ending. The plot was truly fantastic and Malia proved once again what a talented writer she is. I love how from the start already something unusual and exciting is happening. The whole book is constantly throwing astounding secrets your way, and when you've just about recovered from the shock, another one hits you full force. The ending blew my mind, what happened was so devastating I still can't quite believe it. It's one of those endings that will cause you to have a total freakout. A brilliant, but cruel twist.

I still adored most of the characters in this book, save for one. One whose actions were so cruel and ruthless, I still am shocked. I love Chase as a character. The author captures him perfectly. He's just a thirteen year old boy who is learning about the world and going through that awkward phase of growing up, except he also has to learn to control his powers and protect his family. He is stubborn, inquisitive, loyal, brave and protective and a very realistic character.

Andy was even more adorable in this book! I love his and Chase's banter and their brotherly teasing. Andy is definitely one of my favourite characters and he feels like a little brother to me. He did scare me senseless though towards the end when things were going very badly.

I absolutely adore Persephone and I would love reading a whole series from her perspective. She doesn't take nonsense from anybody and she'll stand up for what she believes in, yet she remains sweet and kind. I also find her and Andy's friendship adorable!

It was also exciting that there was a new character introduced to the series. I think I'm really going to love Nori. She's so courageous and strong and protective. I can't wait to read more about her!

Janie. I still can't believe how much she has changed. Janie used to be one of my favourites but now I'm starting to detest her. I'm hoping that she'll go back to how she used to be, but I don't think so. I'm not even sure if she's still alive after that fight and what she did and gah! MALIA HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME?! I NEED to know what happens next *sobs and eats Nutella* I was just so shocked at what she did and what happened to her and it's just so shocking! I was an emotional wreck afterwards! It was so terrible and heartbreaking and I'm so frustrated with Janie and I feel sorry for her too and GAH. I had to keep reading that part just to make sure I had actually read it correctly. THE FEELS.

I absolutely LOVED this book and it's safe to say I'm 100% addicted to this series. I guarantee you, that once you've read these books, you will never want to leave the story she has so imaginatively crafted. An enthralling, absorbing and magical read that will have you in its clutches from the moment you set eyes on the first page. A thrilling new addictive series laced with secrets, betrayal and magical. A novel showing the fine line between good and evil and how easily it is crossed.

I give it: 5/5 CUPCAKES!

Malia Ann Haberman’s CHASE TINKER AND THE HOUSE OF SECRETS is a wonderful sequel to her earlier HOUSE OF MAGIC. The series focuses on 13-year-old Chase Tinker, who discovered in the first book that he is a member of a very special magical family. Chase’s father, Benjamin, attempted to deny his magical heritage, and he kept the truth from Chase (and from Chase’s younger brother, Andy). But magic will out, and both boys discovered their special abilities when they turned ten and a half. The first book, HOUSE OF MAGIC, told the story of Chase’s adventures in his grandfather’s fabulous magical house, his search for his kidnapped father, and his first encounters with the Tinker family enemies, the Marlowes. HOUSE OF SECRETS picks up right where HOUSE OF MAGIC left off – Chase is wrestling with anger over what he sees as his father’s betrayal (and his grandfather’s, as well), he’s still crushing on cute Persephone Periwinkle, and he’s trying to help his cousin Janie, whose mother Clair was killed by the Marlowes. On top of all that, a mysterious “magical flu” seems to have infected Chase, and very strange things happen every time he sneezes. When the Marlowes manage in invade the House of Magic and take Janie away with them, Chase is determined to rescue her, no matter what the cost. And the cost may be great.

This is a rich and powerful story, equally full of humor and thrills. Chase and his brother are real kids who snipe at each other like boys their age will do – although it’s always clear they are totally devoted to each other. Persephone is smart and gorgeous and perfectly able to take care of herself; although she’s not magical herself, she wears a special necklace given to her by Chase’s grandfather which enables her to use magic along with the Tinkers. There’s also a new character introduced in HOUSE OF SECRETS, Nori, a long-lost cousin Chase never knew he had. Together Chase, Andy, Persephone, and Nori work with Chase’s reluctant father to battle the Marlowes and rescue Janie. What they discover is a secret no one but Chase’s grandfather even suspected – a secret that just might get all of them killed.

Ultimately, this is a novel about secrets. There are many, many secrets swirling around the various plot developments, and some of them may be deadly. Haberman is asking her readers to consider the implications of secrets, and whether it’s ever right to keep things from people you love. In the first book (HOUSE OF MAGIC), Chase’s father kept many things from him, including his magical heritage, as well as the fate of his sister, Chase’s Aunt Clair. These are things that make it difficult for Chase to truly trust his father in HOUSE OF SECRETS. But was Benjamin right in hiding the truth to protect his family? This is something Chase must come to terms with. Early in HOUSE OF SECRETS, Chase’s grandfather tells him, “There’s nothing wrong with having secrets. . . . You only have to know when it’s best to hold onto them, or best to let go.” These are things all of the characters in this book will struggle with before the novel’s conclusion.

This is without a doubt a marvelous series for middle grade readers. As with the first installment, there is no inappropriate language or sexual content (Chase and Persephone are on the verge of a possible romance, but they’re very young and they behave as very young teens would). There is violence in this novel, but it’s never graphic and it’s always appropriate for the age of the readers and for the story being told. Haberman is presenting mature and complex themes in this series (including issues of anger, guilt, and jealously), but she’s doing it in ways that are totally accessible for children. I do recommend that readers check out the first novel, HOUSE OF MAGIC, before delving into HOUSE OF SECRETS. There’s so much information in that book about the magical house, the Tinker family, and the relationships between the characters, that it would be a shame to miss it. While Haberman makes a concerted effort in HOUSE OF SECRETS to remind her readers of developments and information from the first book, this is such a fabulous series that it makes sense for readers to begin at the beginning. Great series, great second installment – I highly recommend it.

DISCLAIMER: I was given a copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

Every family has their secrets. Some secrets are to keep people safe (or from being hurt), others are unknown or lost. However, there are also those secrets that are kept for pride, stubbornness, or misguided or immature reasons.

The Tinker family is no exception to secrets. In fact, the Tinker family has many of them -- the biggest one being that they all have some kind of magical power, which manifests itself before the child turns 11.

However, it's the unknown or unspoken ones that can come back to haunt you. And this is where "Chase Tinker and the House of Secrets" picks up.

The Tinker family is struggling with all the after-effects of the events that occurred in Book One ("Chase Tinker and the House of Magic"), including deaths and near-deaths. Family members are at odds with one another, especially when it comes to those things that were kept secret (but are now out in the open), leaving some with a sense of loss and betrayal. However, this is just the tip of the iceberg, as there is much more to be discovered, including some things that cause dramatic shifts in the family dynamics.

The children have to take on more responsibilities in order to protect themselves from their Dark Enemy (the Marlowes), who are determined to obtain The Relic, with the ultimate goal of taking over the Tinker House and stealing all the magic that the Tinkers have accumulated over time, and thus destroying the Tinkers.

Can Chase and the rest of the kids learn enough magic to protect themselves? Even more importantly, can they get past their feelings of anger and betrayal, or will the bitterness destroy their fragile bond? These things are brought to a head when one of their own is kidnapped by the Marlowes, who are exploiting yet another secret ...

Comments:

An excellent follow-up to a fun and interesting series. Highly recommended!

I don't want to give away any spoilers, but there are definite changes to the group dynamics, including the welcome addition of another interesting female character, Nori. (Yay for strong female characters!)

Chase struggles with his age and immaturity, which is at odds with new levels of responsibility. At times, he can be a bit whiny, but at other times, he is insightful and makes a lot of sense. (Sounds like some kids I've known!)

I highly recommend a short gap or re-read of book one, just to get back in the Chase Tinker universe. (If you don't have the time to do that, you will get caught up, but I just think it is an enormous help. And these books are quick reads.)

Thank you, Malia! I look forward to Book Three!!!

Chase Tinker and the House of Secrets is a strong follow-up that certainly lives up to its name. We find out several surprising things about the Tinker family—and even a few about their old foes, the Marlowes—in this action-packed sequel that maintains the charm of the first book, Chase Tinker and the House of Magic , while also reflecting in tone the increasing maturity of its characters.

Continuing character development is something that I look for in any sequel regardless of a book’s target age group, but I’m especially keen to see it in middle grade titles. The ones that tend to click with me as an adult reader feature characters who make me feel as though I’m watching them make a progressive journey into young adulthood. Chase Tinker and the House of Secrets does not disappoint in this area. Chase still acts impulsively at times, but he’s also more aware of the responsibilities he’ll shoulder one day as the Keeper of the Tinker’s magical house. He grows up quite a bit over the course of the novel, and by the end of it, he’s been thoroughly tested. Extreme circumstances force Chase to take some drastic action that leaves him shaken and guilt-ridden. It’ll be interesting to see how he copes with what happened as the series continues.

Although this book delves into a little more serious territory than the last one, there’s still plenty of lighthearted stuff going on. Chase is more preoccupied than ever with not looking like a dork in front of Persephone, the housekeeper’s daughter. After very briefly becoming Keeper, Chase is able to use powers that once belonged to other Tinkers . . . every time he sneezes. This causes some distress for our young hero, of course, like being attacked by a garbage can in the school bathroom. There’s also an incident involving Nori, a newcomer to the series with a special connection to the Tinkers, and everyone in the room turning into goats. Moments like these made me laugh and reminded me why I still enjoy reading middle grade books.

The titular house figures prominently in the story once again, but its amazing magic never eclipses the characters, which I really appreciated. You always know that the characters are the heart of the story; it just so happens that they live in this fantastic house where probably anything is possible. Returning to the Tinker house was a total thrill, and I loved the direction in which the series turned.

To say I was really looking forward to carrying on Chase Tinker’s story from where it left off last year is a definite understatement! And I was so pleased that this book was full of everything I loved about the first book, accompanied with a cracking plot.

What I loved the most about this book was definitely Chase’s character development. You watch him grow up and mature throughout the entire story, and he really begins to take a strong leadership role in the book, and it was great to see him take charge and make a lot of important decisions. He’s portrayed very realistically, especially when it came to his relationship with his parents. I was so happy to see him stand his ground and refuse to leave the Tinker house, and managed to convince his parents to stay.

What would a Chase Tinker book be without magic? I loved exploring more powers, and I found it really interesting to learn that there were powers forbidden by former Tinkers. I was relieved to see Chase stay far away from those! It was nice to see Andy interact with magic a lot more, he really accepted that magic was a huge part of his life and that it wasn’t going to leave him any time soon. The dynamic between Andy and his brother was fantastic, they really bond over their magical powers, and it’s hard to imagine one without the other on some occasions!

The action is really the backbone of the entire story, and there definitely was plenty of it! I loved how varied it was too, whilst there was plenty of magic-related action, there was also the twist of a new character being thrown into the mix. I’m excited to see what kind of a role Nori will play in the rest of the series. I’m hoping it’s a large one, as I really enjoyed reading about her character! I think she could prove to be a huge help for Chase, especially as she appears to be so powerful.

Chase Tinker and the House of Secrets was a brilliant sequel, packed full of magic, humour and action. I can’t wait to see what happens to Chase next, if it’s anything like the rest of the series, I know it’ll be great!

Chase Tinker is BACK! In the first Chase Tinker book, “Chase Tinker and the House of Magic,” Chase finds out that he and his brother have magical powers that they get when they turn 10 & ½. Chase also finds out about a magical house that is the headquarters of the Tinker Family. He later finds out about an evil family called the Marlowes that try to enslave the human race and steal the Tinker magic. In Book 2, Chase and his family is now living at the legendary Tinker House. Chase thinks he and his family have a pretty good life. His dad is back, and Chase is kind of angry with him, because his dad didn’t tell Chase and his younger brother Andy about the magical abilities of the Tinker family. Chase’s cousin, Janie (also living at the Tinker house) is very angry because her mom died trying to save Chase’s dad from the Marlowes. No one knows how to help her so they kind of leave her alone. When the Marlowes kidnap Janie, the Tinkers realize they will do ANYTHING to get her back! With help from their long-lost cousin Nori and friend Persephone, Chase, Andy and their dad believe they can rescue Janie – if they can find her, that is!

I was very happy to read this book because the first of Ms. Haberman’s Chase Tinker books was written so well and it was exciting. The second book was just as good, if not better! There are many twists and turns in the plot, but it is a clearly written story that is fun to read and easy to follow. I love the Tinker magic described in the book. I was happy to learn more about it in the second book. I love Nori’s power – she can absorb knowledge from books (without doing things to damage the book) without reading it. The twist at the end of the book was totally unexpected and really made it a great ending. The book is a clean read and great for middle grade readers. Chase is a good main character. Ms. Haberman makes him a believable kid (only with magical powers). The reader can understand how he feels about who he is. I like Andy the best, though. He’s always hungry. ;)

This is the second book in The Chase Tinker series. I absolutely loved it!

Chase Tinker is a wonderful character and I really liked him from the first time I met him in the first book. I have enjoyed watching his development from a frustrated teen into someone who I would be proud to know.

In this second book, which is told mostly from Chase's point of view though other characters also have their say, Chase finds himself having to deal with new magical powers that he struggles to control. Not only that, the Marlowe's are still intent on finding the Relic hidden in the attic of the Tinker house. Shocking secrets are revealed and a new face is introduced. Nori is the same age as Chase and is a cousin to Chase, Andy and Janie.

This is a wonderful story full of adventure, danger and mystery, and I found myself sitting on the edge of my seat as Chase, Andy, Nori and Persephone face danger once more. There are several twists and turns that keep a reader guessing. I found myself on a roller coaster of emotion from beginning to end. There's a huge fight scene full of action and danger, which was described in such detail that I could picture it in my mind with ease. This fight leads to a shocking accident that brought tears to my eyes. I reached the end of the book with a little bit of sadness, as I didn't want the story to end. This book doesn't end with a cliffhanger, but it still left me looking forward to reading the next book in the series, Chase Tinker and the House of Destiny, as soon as possible.

Malia Ann Haberman has written a entertaining and exciting story for middle grade children. This is the sequel to her debut book. I love her writing style, which is fast paced and imaginative. The flow is wonderful too. I would definitely read more of her books in the future.

I highly recommend this book to middle grade readers aged 9 to 14. However, I also recommend this book (and series) to adults who love reading middle grade fantasy, or to those who are fans of books like Harry Potter. - Lynn Worton

Chase Tinker and the House of Secrets takes the reader back into the Tinker's world. A world filled with mystery and magic. A world where nothing is quite what it seems. I was so excited to head back to the Tinker home! With its rooms full of amazing powers, how could I resist making a return visit? I was looking forward to seeing what kind of mischief Chase and his cohorts would get up to this time.

Lucky for me, things took off at a brisk pace right from the beginning. Still recovering from the lies his father told him, and the attack they successfully thwarted, poor Chase is an understandable mess. He's trying to build his life back up around him, and patch up the holes in the trust he has for others. I felt for him. Imagine being lied to by the one person who you thought you knew the best and, moreover, loved as well. It would be tough. Little did I know that Chase would be soon be facing much bigger problems.

Yes, things take a dark turn in Chase Tinker and the House of Secrets. Where the first book had a bit of tension, but was mostly lighthearted, this story delves much deeper into the secrets and lies. There are betrayals among family members, deeply seated animosity that bubbles to the surface, and a fair share of twists that kept me reading on. What I liked about this particular installment, was that it showed the power of family. Despite it all, it was his newfond family that kept Chase moving on.

Daring rescue missions, epic (and slightly violent) battles, and cunning plans all make a debut in this installment of Chase Tinker's story. He also comes into his own much more, and I was wholly impressed by how much he's grown up in the span of this particular book. I was both thrilled, and saddened, at the ending. Will I be back for more? Most definitely. I can't wait to see where this story takes me next.

Chase Tinker and the House of Secrets is a whimsical and fantastic read. I have been a fan of Malia Ann Haberman since I read book one, and this story is even better.

Now I say this next part with caution, because sometimes this statement can be the kiss of death for a book. (The reason being, is that it sets a pretty high standard.) I felt certain parts of this book have some what of a Harry Potter vibe to it. Now I’m not saying this is “the next” Harry Potter, but throughout this book we get several scenes where the kids are learning and practicing their magic, and it is very creative and a lot of fun to experience it with them.

Now it’s not all fun and games. Chase is hit pretty hard with conflicting family dynamics, all while dealing with a “rival” magical family over possession of the family home. The character growth is very satisfying and the plot clips along at a good pace. If you are looking for a well written and entertaining read, for yourself or middle grade child, I can recommend this series. Malia's imagination is boundless and I look forward to reading book three.

If you thought Benjamin Tinker held a terrible secret in book one, wait until you read book two.

Chase Tinker and the House of Secrets was a fantastic story consisting of secrets, be them large or small, innocent or degrading. Chase Tinker continues to develop as a character who is forced to deal with matters that are beyond his years.

Chase begins to develop some new powers and secrets of his own and Janie does not take Benjamin's news of her mother well. Janie progressively gets worse, and when the time comes for her mother's funeral, Chase, Andy and Persephone discover the Marlowes and their cousin, James, in the Tinker house.

The book is filled with all kinds of magical encounters, secrets, lies, and character development. A wonderfully written story, better than its predecessor.

Each secret is eventually revealed. And be ready for more encounters with the Marlowes!

I highly recommend this story. There are many new powers and magical encounters. I laughed by butt off plenty of times, causing many strange looks in my direction. I loved this book!

Oh, and Maxwell is pretty freaking awesome! :)

A very big thank you to Malia Ann Haberman for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

After devouring Chase Tinker and the House of Magic, I immediately picked up the sequel and thank god that Malia has once again so kindly emailed me a copy for review. Thanks Malia!

Yes, this series just gets better and better. It really is so amazing that Malia is able to keep the excitement going and increasing the pace of the plot, and it is a helluva roller-coaster ride.

I have so many good things to say about this book and words just aren't enough to express the awesomeness of it.

Malia, thanks once again for giving me the opportunity to discover and delve into the magical Chase Tinker world.

Brilliant! I love the wide variety of magic that the author uses in this book. Although, the house does get a little confusing with all the magical rooms. I wish there was some sort of map. The most disappointing part of the book.... the big cliffhanger. Arg. Now I have to wait and wait and wait to read what happens next.

I love the addition of Nori. She is a fantastic character and I cannot wait to see more of her. I understand why there wasn't a lot of Maxwell in this book, but I missed him all the same. Chase had a lot to deal with and I like how he reacted to all his new powers. All the characters are written really well and you really form connections with them.

Like I said above, now I have to wait for the next book. I really look forward to reading the next book and finding out what happens with James, Jamie and the Shard.

After reading the first book in the Chase Tinker series I was already a fan of the Tinkers.
I wasn't ready for the first book to end and I feel the same way as I did about this second installment. WOW MOLY! THIS BOOK IS AWESOME!!!!

There's more magic, there's excitement, there's secrets, there's mystery, there's everything you would want in a book. As a person that isn't a kid or a teenager I really enjoyed this book for myself. I thought this book would definitely be geared towards young kids and I wouldn't have a connection with the plot and the characters, but that was not the case.

I absolutely loved this series. I cannot wait for more. This is definitely perfect for all ages. If you've read the first book and don't know whether to continue... IT IS A MUST.

This sequel, to the excellent Chase Tinker and the House of Magic, has not just continued the story, it has also increased my interest, introduced new characters, given plot and character twists that would make a mystery crime writer envious AND made me frantic for the next book ...

This series about Chase Tinker, his friends, family, magic house and villainous enemies are serious contenders to be regarded as worthy successors to the Harry Potter series.

I received this ebook from the author for an honest review. Thank you Malia for the opportunity to read Chase Tinker and the House of Secrets.

I just finished reading, Malia Ann Haberman's, Chase Tinker and the House of Secrets. Wow! So many secrets throughout the story; some funny, some deep.
I was blown away by the action! There's magic; both good and evil, enchantments, teleporting, fireballs blasting from fingertips, invisibility, and all of this without inappropriate language. What parent could ask for more!

I will definitely be recommending the Chase Tinker series to all friends; whether they have middle-school aged children or not!

"Chase Tinker & The House of Secrets" is the second book of the Chase Tinker Series. The author picks up where the first book left off along with more magick, mysteries, secrets, thrills, chills and laughs. I found the author's characters to be believable, likable and typical for their "ages" within the story. The plot is action packed and very well written with many twists and turns. Most definitely looking forward to the next book in the series! Highly recommended for all from pre-teen to adult.

Magical story. In this book Chase discovers secrets, fights evil magic, and along with his brother Andy, they manage to have fun with their magic. Chase and his family also fight zombies. What kid doesn't love zombies? I really enjoyed reading this book. And I hope there is another book in the works. I really enjoy Chase, Andy, and the other characters. I would love to live in this magic house. Thanks, Malia, for a great read.

I enjoyed the second book in this series as much as the first.

Additional secrets revealed about this special house kept me turning the pages with excitement. And even more, I enjoyed learning about the background (and secrets) of the characters - especially those on the 'dark' side.

I loved the addition of Nori, and I look forward to reading more.

This book was great! It picked up right where the first left off, and was written with the same beautiful descriptions and excellent flow. A wonderful adventure, full of magic, family, adventure and betrayal. Now I'm off to read the next! I was given this book in exchange for my honest review.

I just had to buy books 2,3 &4 after reading book 1 Chase Tinker and THE HOUSE OF MAGIC and loving the story, I wanted to read more of the Tinker Families Magical Adventures so I went to Amazon and bought them all.
This is an awesome Magical Fantasy Series and by far, one of the best that I have read. Why not check it out for yourself.

I received a copy of Chase Tinker and the House of Secrets for an honest review.

After the battle against the dark magic users Marlows the Tinkers need time to recover from everything that’s happened. Grandfather Tinker’s health is anything but perfect and Janie is devastated over the loss of her mother. With Chase and his father still not talking, and his mother moving in to watch over everyone nothing is perfect at the moment. When Chase’s father proposes a funeral for Janie’s mother everything goes up in flames as the Marlows show up inside the Chase Tinker fortress with the help of James, Janie’s brother and they take Janie with them as they escape. Now the Tinker’s must come together to try and strengthen their powers and get Janie back. What none of the Tinkers counted on was finding another girl who uses magic, Nori. Discovering her means one more person to help the cause of saving Janie. Too bad when the plan is hatched on Halloween the day all magic users powers are strongest all the secrets that had been kept come out in the open, many are hurt and all the Tinkers lives will be changed forever.

Chase Tinker and his family are magic users which is really cool. I enjoyed how the house wasn’t the main focus in the book anymore. The characters have grown up and I feel they were more relatable in this book than in the first one. The magical powers and battle scenes were way cooler in this second book as well. Chase Tinker and the House of Secrets was definitely more exciting and had a lot more exciting twists than the first book.

Overall, Chase Tinker and the House of Secrets was a great sequel to an already good series. The ending will definitely leave you wanting more and wondering who lived, who died, and who in the end will prevail.

The Tinker family returns in ‘Chase Tinker and The House of Secrets’. After the events in book one, the Tinkers are reeling from the discoveries, revelations, and confrontations; but their troubles are far from over. Janie’s mad at everything and everyone since learning her mother was the one who died instead of her uncle. Chase is dealing with the sudden appearance of new powers and his anger at his family for keeping secrets – secrets which might have changed the outcome of previous events. When the Marlowes take Janie and Chase discovers a new Tinker cousin, they band together to mount a rescue operation. However, there may be more secrets which could jeopardize everything…

I recommend you read the first book before reading, ‘Chase Tinker and The House of Secrets’, as the books don’t stand on their own. Chase’s second adventure doesn’t seem to move along as quickly as the first and there is a lot of information dumped on the reader toward the end of the book. A major cliffhanger will bring you to the abrupt end of the book with a feeling like there are missing pages. I do like the Tinker family and their adventures, but I hope we learn more of their secrets in the next book. I also hope we see more character development in the adults. Overall, the Chase Tinker series will captivate your imagination and the end of ‘Chase Tinker and The House of Secrets’ will leave you clambering for more!

This is the second installment of the Chase Tinker series and I have to say that I wasn't as taken with the story as I was for the first book. It was basically a continuing storyline which is all good but seemed to lack something where the pace was concerned. I felt that it didn't flow as well and the story did not move along enough. When it came time for the climax of the story, for me it seemed to fizzle a little and I felt that there was something missing that would have tied it all together. Though you do get some answers to some of the secrets in the house, I felt that it just posed a lot more questions, and then the book just ends. Of course you realize that there has to be a third installment but I think that there should be a smoother lead in to the next book and that each one should be able to stand alone and this one doesn't.
As for the characters, I liked them and felt that you get to know Chase & Andy a little better but again, the adults seemed to be a bit two dimensional and the villains seem to be just evil for the sake of being evil. As this is meant to be a children's book, I suppose that most children wouldn't care and would not make that distinction but I would have liked to see a better motivation for why these people choose to go to the dark side. As a children's series, I do believe that these books will get a following and even with some of the issues, they could be as enduring as their magical predecessors. I truly hope so for they are entertaining and a lot of fun.

Beneath the Moon and Stars review

Yay for middle grade. This may not have been perfect but it was very good. It made a great addition to the series.

This continues the story of Chase and Andy. Things get get crazier as fall comes. The Marlowes return. The Tinkers must band together to fight them and save their house.

This had a fabulous set of characters. Chase is such a good leader. He is very determined. I loved seeing him learn to use his powers. Andy is really just the cutest thing. He's just along for the ride. He's also gotten pretty good at magic. This book has a lot of secondary characters. They were all fabulous. I only brought up Chase and Andy because their the main characters.

What I loved most about this story was the magic. There was like a million different magical aspects. There was a fair bit of action but it was either in the beginning or the end. Not so much through the middle. There was lots of suspense though. The ending kinda threw me off because the whole point of the story didn't seem to matter anymore. I was a little confused. Overall this was a pretty good read. If your a magic fan, I highly recommend
