Sweet, short, a good time-filler between books with more substance. I received this for free at a conference, and I don't often read Harlequin books, but I kept this one for just such an empty space in my reading schedule. First, I have to confess to having trouble thinking of Reagan as a guy. I guess I've just run into a number of female characters by that name, so every time he made an appearance, I had to mentally correct myself. Second, while Ally's fascination for him is convincing due to her high school crush, she jumps to love way too fast. He's right to be wary, especially considering his past. Finally, if you're looking for drama, there's not much here. There's a lot of dusting and barn clearing between character interactions. It goes fast, and it's a pleasant read.

A book with a single dad always grabs my attention so I couldn’t resist The Rancher’s Baby Proposal. It broke my heart to hear Reagan’s girlfriend didn’t want the baby or him. Of course, he doesn’t want another relationship after that. But he does need a babysitter while he’s getting the ranch ready to sell. He thinks Ally would be perfect for the job. She’s not too happy about taking the babysitting job for two reasons. She’s convinced kids hate her and she’s always loved Reagan but he clearly doesn’t see her the same way.

I enjoyed this romance and liked the characters. Reagan, not so much at first, but when I found out about the things life threw at him and all his regrets, my feelings for him changed. While Ally was fun and flirty she didn’t think much of herself. And kids didn’t hate her, at least Reagan’s baby didn’t.

I recommend this sweet romance.

The Rancher's Baby Proposal is number six of The Hitching Post Hotel by Barbara White Daille. Reagan Chase returns to his home town to get his parents ranch ready to sell. He doesn't want to have feelings for any woman after the girl he was dating got pregnant and didn't want the baby. Reagan paid for the pregnant and at the end the girl signed over all legal rights of the baby boy, Sean to Regan. Reagan hires Ally Martinez to babysit Sean while he is getting the Ranch ready to sell. Ally has always loved Reagan. Reagan is three years older than Ally and didn't think of her in a romantic way. Things can change. A good romance read.

Ally always had a crush on Reagan, he was three years older than her, but she remembers the first time she went with her Mama to his parents ranch, she sat on the fence and watched him with the horses.

Now after a long time away he has come home and Ally hopes she can get him to notice her. She still has a crush on him. However, he has a one month old son and he is returning to his life in San Antonio as soon as he finishes cleaning out his parents home and sells it.

i had secondhand embarrassment when reagan realised that ally was a virgin because she’d saved herself all those years for him and his immediate reaction was to back away and tell her that he thought she was looking for a good time 😭

sean was cute but i hated how they kept referring to him as ‘the baby’ like…why are we doing that
