While history has forgotten von Lenz as a pianist, he was a contemporary who met and played with Liszt, Chopin, Henselt, Tausig, Cramer, and for his first-hand account of these figures, this book is of historical interest. However, one wishes the German, French and Latin interjections could have editorial translations footnoted.
