Julie Britton is from New York, but she spent every childhood summer in Anders Point, Maine with her grandfather, caretaker of the Castle of King Ivar of Isle Anders near Iceland. At 16 she falls in love with 21-year-old Prince Erik. Erik feels something too, but refuses to admit to it.
Nine years later, Julie is now castle caretaker and planning a ball for King Ivar when he has heart surgery. Concerned for his father's health, Erik decides to announce his engagement at the ball to an "appropriate" person. When that person fails to show at the ball, Julie agrees to pretend to be his fiancee. The king sees through their pretense, but throws them together to get them to realize they're in love, something Erik FINALLY comes around to. Good story.

This is a charming lovestory about a Prince who is determined not to love and lose, and a young woman who believes that love is the only thing that is important. While faking an engagement, Julie is determined to teach Erik how to soften and open his heart to love's possibilities. Of course, our Prince fights her lessons, only to discover that it's a losing battle! A sweet, lovely lovestory and a wonderful HEA.
