Minnies: QuickKnits for Babies and Toddlers

Rate this book
With more than 20 charming creations for youngsters from birth to three, this playful collection of knitwear for stylish little ones will get knitters' needles clicking. Designs are aimed at knitters of all levels, and the book includes an introductory section so that even a first-time knitter can make one of the adorable ensembles. The projects utilize big needles and bulky yarn, making these patterns rewarding and less time-consuming. Included are a snuggly kimono and bunting for a layette, jackets and sweaters for outdoor adventures, and hats and booties for toddlers' tops and toes. Charming details like bobbles, spirals, ruffles, and tassels enhance the simple pattern shapes, infusing them with unmistakable whimsy.

There are a variety of patterns. Most start at six months size. I like the sweater on the the cover, but some of the others look, well, kind of 1980's to me and are entirely too fussy. There are some good basic patterns, but I would want to change some of the colors. I was hoping for more newborn and/or zero to three months size patterns given the word "babies" in the title. Also, I was hoping for more patterns knit in one piece as I prefer to knit from the top down instead of sewing pieces together.

I love the minnowknits books, but I don't have any little ones to knit for. The patterns are adorable and quick.

Okay, not so much a "read" but I'm making a very fun baby sweater that looks like a kimono from this book!
