Rarely do I find a gardening book that ticks all 3 boxes: Gorgeous book I want to just handle and peruse… Sound horticultural discoveries to take me to new and interesting gardening practices… Really creative and useful ideas to inspire me to action. Yes, this book has the expected sections on bath salts and soaps, interesting fruit jams and infusions, and catnip “mice”. And great ideas for drying flowers and using them for stationery, wrapping, even crystallizing for culinary use. But also wonderful direction for propagating plants for gifting, too. And then, marigold cheese? Teacup bulb planters? Parsley dog biscuits? Yes, yes, and yes. Bought this book for my own.

4.5 rounded up. I lived in my garden for decades, this book was like a dear friend, it reminded me of the endless bounty a garden offers year round. There wasn't a day or season that I couldn't have magical moments with the simplest of pleasures. The pictures are beautiful, if you work in the soil you can appreciate the quiet abundance of the endless gifts from the garden.

I really liked this book. It has a lot of good ideas of gifts to make from your own garden as well as suggestions for growing the different plants. The directions are clear and include measurements. Ms. Robertson has a regular index as well as an index by gift type and a brief list of suggested suppliers.

This is a book I would be happy to own, but need to let go of others to make room!

I liked this book so much that I am going to buy a copy. This book has so many great ideas on growing herbs, making bath salts, cooking oils & cooking rubs, laundry cleaners, & cleaning supplies.

A few things that seperates this book from some of my past readings is that it provides shelf life dates (yeah!), easy to read directions, great photos & page layout, simple to the point growing advice, & packaging tips (yeah).

My only advice is, it would have been useful to have an index in the back of the book with all of the ingredients, their uses & benifits, along with page location. This type of index would have been useful for substitions, switching essential oils for their benifits, and using items that you have on hand. However, the health benifits of the herbs and final product are documented well. Great book!

I loved this beautiful book. If you like gardening as much as I do and like making gifts for others rather than buying the latest things advertised on tv and online, the this is a wonderful book for you. There are a wide variety of gifts to make using things you have grown (or you can purchase) that any recipient will feel special receiving from your creative hands.

Not very inspired (jam! potpourri! infusions! that's about it), but the photography is very lovely.

Nothing very innovative. Think pressed flowers on cards, a few recipes for lotions which will need things you have to buy anyway and cuttings of herbs in cans with their labels still on...
