“They called it a cult. I called it home.”

ABIGAIL

I don’t regret running away from home six years ago. I wound up at Good Souls, a secluded farm where I could fight my dark, dirty impulses and remain pure. I knew that soon I would receive the ultimate reward: ascension straight to heaven. Then the police raided our farm and took everything away. They called it being “rescued.”

I had nothing: no family or friends, just an empty apartment in New York. The other women from the farm barely spoke to me. Our leader, Brady Booker, was missing, and my therapist wanted to convince me my sexual urges were normal, and that ascension was a lie.

For so long I believed my hunger for discipline and restraint was the work of demons tempting me to sin. Then I met Mason. Dominant and handsome, he made me feel good... even if I am sick...

MASON

For ten years I’ve been on the hunt, trying to fix a mistake that cost me everything. Obsessed with righting the wrongs of my past, I lost touch with my friends and family; I lost my badge; I lost all semblance of a normal life.

I never should have let Abigail Lamb get under my skin. Just when I’d caught a break, when I thought the end was in sight, she stood in my way. Beautiful, but brainwashed, her tragic past and thirst for submission drew me in and held on tight. I couldn’t resist, even if it meant jeopardizing my mission.

Now I have no choice. I can’t let her go, not until I get what I need. I’m going to finish what I started, even if that means becoming a monster...

Publisher's note: “Good Sick” is a psychological, new adult, steamy dark romance story with explicit sexual content, including BDSM practices, with no cliffhangers, no cheating and a HEA.

I had to take a few days to process this book it was something else. Abigail ran away from home at an early age and ended up at a secluded farm or cult called Good Souls. For six long years she was brainwashed by an evil man named Brady Booker. When the farm is raided and she is rescued her reentry into society is not an easy. When her doctor suggests that she try making friends and maybe even dating Abigail decides to give it a shot. On her first night out she meets the handsome and sexy Mason. After years of suppressing all of her sexual urges and desires Mason ignites a fire within her that she never thought possible. These two have some hot and heavy sex. In the beginning I didn't really like Mason he has secrets that he was keeping from Abigail and I would have been pissed if he left me handcuffed to the bed and left. This was my first time reading this author. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading more of this author's work.

I was so engrossed in this intense and gutwrenching story which kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning till end .There's some stuff you'll never expect to happen and lots of twists and turns will surprising and intriguing you till the book is finished.
Absolutely loved this well written book that was filled with so much suspense and horror . Ms.Rayne did a great job with the phenomenal dark character development .These psychological characters are extraordinary and immediately got into me .
Though not for the faint of heart "Good Sick" is a must read if you're into dark and psychologic BDSM romance because it's a story that truly will stay with you , long after you're finished reading it and you 'll enjoy every second reading it .

Mind Blowing.

To me this was bad a$$. I will not go into detail, but Abigail had it rough for awhile. She is now able to live her life. Having trouble moving on from her past she meets sexy man beast Mason. Mason has some secrets of his own. Check this book out this will not disappoint.

Watch out, Abbi, I thought in Brady's voice. The demons are going to be coming for you.
Let them come.

This is the first book I've read by Sansa Rayne/Sasha Rich - and I found it thrilling and steamy. It has a wonderfully original plot, following the life and re-intergration of Abigail in society, after she is rescued from a cult. It's an interesting concept, and I enjoyed the BDSM interlinking with this brainwashed mentality.

The sex scenes were clearly written from someone who knows her stuff, and this was absolutely one hot read - apart from the use of euphemisms like "orifice" and "rod" (I'm afraid to say I'm a pussy/cunt/cock/dick kinda girl)!

She was my kind of sick, and I couldn't let that go.

The reason I can't rate this book any higher is that, despite the brilliant plot and the potential for greater things, Rayne has a tendency to fall into the telling, not showing category of writers - describing sexual acts (and general plot events) physically, but not quite delving into the emotional, internal aspect and properly conveying the characters through the medium of reading.

There was a lot that could have been covered here, and I wanted a little more detail into the mental aspect and rehabilitation of Abigail, both with Mason and her therapist; it all happened perhaps too quickly and neatly to have been fully believable.

"The agony of the body feeds the serenity of the soul."

Absolutely worth a read, this is an author I'm excited about following, and about watching her writing style develop. Let's hope for more emotion (and actually more darkness, too) in future works.

Amount of Sex - 5/5
How explicit - 4.5/5
BDSM/fetish - 4/5
Romance - 4/5
Overall - 4/5

Good Sick is Sansa Rayne’s debut novel, which is a dark erotic romance. This novel touches upon some heavy subject matter including cults, BDSM, kidnapping, and more. The story line was great as well as the characters. My emotions were all over the place while Ms. Rayne took us on this journey into Abigail and Mason’s romance.
Abigail joined the Good Souls religious cult, lead by Brady Booker, hoping to seek ascension into Heaven. A true believer and member for six year, Abigail had to adjust to life outside of the farm after the Police stormed in to arrest Brady. The non believers staying against their will were saved, but unfortunately, Brady got away. Abigail began feeling better after she met Mason at an erotic nightclub. Mason introduced Abigail to BDSM techniques and their romance flourished, but Mason was hiding something. Will Abigail forgive Mason when she finds out?

“She’s been gone a long time.”

Abigail Lamb has been missing from the public eye for six years ever since running away from her latest foster family at eighteen. Restless and angry at her alcoholic foster father, she saw how little they cared for the kids and how little everyone truly felt hmfor her. Running away and never looking back, she spent days on the street with no money or shelter as she struggled to come to terms with her new predicament. Deciding to start offering soecial services in exchange for spare change, this was when she would first cross paths with Brady Booker and immediately find herself hooked. Preaching about salvation and accession to a greater place, she learned into his words and followed him with zero hesitation or doubts. Over her six years at the Farm, she came to understand sex was a sin and any transgressions earned whippings and bondage. Trying to taper down her inner buring desires for more, Abigail would often smart mouth just to earn herself another sting of his hand or the burn of the ropes holding her arms. All those years passed in a blur of new faces as new girls were constantly coming and going, each trading in their mortality for a chance of the ultimate salvation.

“Abigail, you’re not a prisoner anymore.”
“Abigail, you were being brainwashed.”
“Abigail, those men were criminals.”

During her duration of seclusion, Mason Cole was working frantically to discover the whereabouts of his younger sister Kaya following her arrests after a burglary attempt he stopped as he was merely a rookie. Along with his partner Frank Navarro, the two left the badges behind and instead poured everything they could into the decades long search of Brady and his cult following. Praying everyday to see his sister again and apologize for having her arrested, he now saw his chance when the cult was seized by law enforcement and all captive woman rescued. Spying Abbie outside of Dante's, a club engineered for the more sexually forward crowd, he never expected the two to hit it off or begin something much more that simply being a pawn for answers. Using bondage and exploration of her darkest desires to get answers about her time at the cult, he would soon learn Brady was mucj clossr than orginalyl thought. Learning everything he told her was a lie sent her into an aggressive stomp out of his apartment where she would soon become hostage to the cult leader of Good Souls all over again. Confessing his love of her, he was now prepared to sell her in order to grant himself a ticket out of the country. Stopped by a raid, Abigail was shocked to ever see Mason again and would slowly warm to him and begin accepting him into her life. Ready to explore her new urges, she feels safe in every boundary he pushes of her.

I can’t shake the feeling that your meeting wasn’t an accident.

I really liked reading Mason and Abigail's story. This story gives is more of a psychological thriller with some BDSM, rather than a dark read, but I enjoyed it regardless. Abigail is a runaway that falls into a cult life and when rescued, struggles to come to terms that her 6 years in that life was a lie. Mason meets Abigail with motives of his own, but falls for Abigail quickly. Their HEA romance is a whirlwind with some hot BDSM scenes.

Will definitely continue to read more from this author!

Good read

Good Sick is a dark read that grabbed me from the beginning and held me until the very end. Abigail had just enough spunk to override the meek mouse she was supposed to be. Mason is the hot Dom that is the flawed hero you can’t help but love.

Good sick selves into cults, kidnappings, and sex trafficking. It is a good story with a HEA that also gives you some VERY sexy scenes.

I can’t wait to read another of Ms. Rayne’s books.

4.5 STARS!!

This book was fantastically written! Oh my! And this is Sansa Rayne's first full length novel! The way she has described the story, that is the way the heroine struggles with her demons, the way the suspense gets unfolded, the way we move further into the story - is just captivating! I could totally connect with the heroine!

"The agony of the body feeds the serenity of the sole."

This book is definitely written for the lovers of dark romances. The topic of the book is so different!! I had never read something like this before! It is absolutely incomparable and unimaginable!

The female lead fights with herself, judges herself by her own actions and decisions - still she can't get enough of what her mind considers as Sin.

Intriguing, isn't it? I know! The story is so good. You might want to dive in WITHOUT knowing more about it.

“Stay.” Mason  walked  off, but  quickly  came  back; he carried  the  chair  from   my kitchen  table  and  set  it down  in  front  of  me. He tapped  the  back.“Hands here." As  soon  as  I  complied,  I  felt  a  slap  on  my  bared  bottom. I  cried  out  again  as  I  felt  Mason's hand smack  the  other  cheek. “ Was that enoyable for you, Abbi ?” he  asked. He  ran  his  fingers between   my  thighs, feeling  my  soaking  panties. "Yes,”  I  sniffed, mortified.

“Then what should you have said?” He  rubbed  the  sore  spot  he'd  created  on  my  backside,  circling  it  with  his  finger.

“Thank you?”

“Correct.” He  spanked  me  again, harder  this  time. He  waited  for  a moment, then  said, “Well?”

"Thank you."

Hot!! Let me tell you, there was a  moment when I was holding my breathe the whole time and the scene was so insane, my eyes bugged out of the sockets while reading it!! Literally!

"Ascension   meant  paradise, but  did  that mean  sex? Or would  we  exist in  some other  form  where  sex  wasn't  even  possible ?

It  seemed  a  waste  to  go  through  life  and  not  experience  something  that  was  said  to  bring  such  pleasure, but  then  the  temptation  to  Sin often  came  in  the  form   of  momentary  bliss."

There is so much going on in the book, so many twists and turns, you just have to read a few chapters in the beginning and you'd be  assured that this book is WORTH IT! (Well, it happened with me!) I think the writing of the author was magnetic and very articulate. ❤

I loved it!!

"Mason's  tone  conveyed  authority,  with  an   inkling  of   kindness  that  would  evaporae  quickly   if I  stepped  out  of  the  line.

I  longed  to  test  his  patience,  equally  desiring  and  fearing  the  consequences."

The book has its fun moments also. Abbi can be hilarious at times! She's strong, smart and funny. I've read so many dark romances, yet this one was remarkably unique!!  I'm glad I have this in my 'Read' bucket.

*The book has explicit sexual content, including BDSM practices. It's a Standalone with an HEA + No cheating.*

*A Copy was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.*

3.5 with great thought.

This book I have a feeling is a stand-alone going into a series (will explain).
This book may cause triggers. Some abuse. Heavy on pain fetish of the BDSM variety (S/M). Some brain washing with the cult religion.
I went into this book with nothing but knowing this is a "new author" to me with a book that involves the dark romance, cult type.
So of course I was interested.
I started meeting Abigail, she has just been "rescued" from a place called the farm. It's pretty much a cult haven. Here's the thing: she's not happy about that. She wanted to be there because she was brainwashed, she was going to be saved and go straight to Heaven.
She's going to a shrink to help adjust. And to get her life back on track after believing she wasn't pure. She had demons yelling to her about not being pure enough. All because Abbi craved, pain.
So her shrink tells her to go out and meet new people. Follow her gut on this new adventure she has been given.
Which brings us to Mason. They meet outside a BDSM club, unbeknownst to Abbi. They explore, they talk, it's connection at first sight.
Here's where the book took a bit of a dive for me. Abbi has been saving herself for twenty-four years, she meets Mason and in one night, that all changed.
They never talk of STD's, never talk of birth control, and boom it's a homerun.
So Mason through his own guilt leaves Abbi in a bind (literally), the next morning.
A few days later he does contact her, and tries to make things right. Of course, AGAIN they end up with the same circumstances as above, but this time it goes further. You see Mason loves to give pain along with $ex. Abbi loves to receive the pain Mason offers in his dungeon. Here's another point lost for me. No talk of a safe word, no limits, just had her on the cross and things play out.
In these aspects, both characters were kind of shallow.
There was NO DARK to this book though. What Abbi and Mason do is consenting. There is only talk of other girls being abused while in "the cult".
In order for a book to be dark, things have to be in detail of forbidden and depraved things. None of that was done or mentioned to the point of a label DARK.
The plot: I liked that. It was face paced and easy to follow. Mason was the man of mystery to figure out. Brady was the leader of "Good Souls" who wasn't captured. So we all knew that he would come back, but when. That all played out nicely.
Here's where this will probably be a stand-alone within a series. Everything with our main character's came to a close. But a side character is still left as a mystery.
If this book was tidied up a bit with the characters, I'd of probably went with a higher rating. I just couldn't do it when it comes to topics like BDSM (pain, S/m, fetish of pain), and cult brainwashing.
This was a face paced read, I read in one sitting. If the things mentioned above don't hold baring on your reads, give this book a try!
As I said, this was a new to me author that I would read again, along with the next book in this series of there is one.
I read this on my KU.

*I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Good Sick is Sansa Rayne's first full length novel, and let me just say it is a really great read! In this book, we follow the life of Abigail Lamb from the time she is rescued from a cult up until present time.

Abigail ran away from home at an early age and ended up at a secluded farm called Good Souls. For six long years, she was brainwashed by an evil man named Brady Booker. When the farm is raided and she is rescued, her re-entry into society is not an easy one. When her doctor suggests that she try making friends and maybe even dating, Abigail decides to give it a shot. On her first night out, she meets the handsome and oh so sexy Mason. After years of suppressing all of her sexual urges and desires, Mason ignites a fire within her that she never thought possible.

Wow! I really enjoyed this book! The story line was original, and the characters were very well developed! I fell in love with Abigail from the very start. Her character is so strong and endearing! The mental and physical abuse she endured would break most people, but not her. It only proved to make her stronger than ever before. If you are a fan of psychological thrillers and dark romance, this is the book for you!

This book intrigued me so much. A girl in a cult with a past that you can't even image. I was all in. I loved this book. It kept me guessing then second guessing myself through the entire thing. Poor Abigail has been through it having just been taken out of Good Soul's. Donations keep her living in the city and she sees a therapist to help her adjust to her new life. Abigail however is angry and hurt and knows she is missing something in her life. After all she never ascended. Every believer in Good Soul's wanted to ascend and Abigail was on the farm for six years and never did. Following her therapists advice, Abigail reveals her feeling and is told to go out on the weekend. Meet someone. Explore the things she might and might not like. Enter Mason. The handsome rugged man who rocks Abbi's world. They are both good sick and sick together is the best way to be.

You just need to get this book and dive right into it. I feel like maybe I said to much already. But I don't want to spoil this book for anyone. This is the second Sansa Rayne book I have read. I read them right in a row too and I can't recommend Erased enough either. I have certainly discovered one of my new favorite dark authors.

3.5 stars. I'm not going to start with an overview of the plot. I'm sure you have already read the synopsis, and know what the book is about. This author is new to me, so I didn't know what to expect. For me, this book was more of a thriller with some BDSM thrown in, rather than a dark romance. The story started off a little slow and unorganized, but as the story moved along it started to come together, and became intense and intriguing, I couldn't put it down. Abigail's story was heartbreaking. Abigail's character was very well developed, Abigail drew me in. Unfortunately I did not connect with Mason, even after hearing his back story, I just couldn't connect. I love some BDSM in the romance books I read, but I was a little disturbed by the BDSM in this book. There was no mention of a safe word, no mention of birth control or condom. Mason left Abigail handcuffed to the bed all night, he did leave the key. He left the room twice while she was tied up. There was only one time aftercare was given. Mason needs to go back to DOM school.(lol) Since this book deals with life in a cult and life after the cult, it may have triggers for some. I did like this book, and I will read more books by this author, in fact I'm currently reading "Erased" by this author.

This was captivating with an original storyline! I loved going through the roller coaster of emotions with Abbi as she tried to adapt to living in the city. Kerri was perfect for Abbi to talk to, and it was more like an older sister or mother giving advice than a therapist. I wasn't sure what kind of story would come about with Mason's background, but it was perfect, and he was perfect(ly broken)! My first book by this author, and I'm looking forward to future projects from her!

Read on behalf of a Book Lovers Emporium.

I loved this book. From start to finish I enjoyed every word of it. The way the author writes is easy to follow and she makes the chapters exciting enough so you just have to read one more. I finished this book in a mater of hours.

We met Abigail who had lived on a farm with a cult since running away from her foster home six years previous. She has been brainwashed onto believing that sex is evil and that monsters made her feel the way she does. We also meet Mason, who at first seems really suspicious until we get further along into the story. He and Abigail meet outside a BDSM club and slowly he shows her that sex isn't evil or dirty and that it can be enjoyed immensely.

Fantastic book containing BDSM, romance, action, abuse and much more.

Ran away when she was sixteen, Abigail Lamb was befriend by a cult leader named Brady Booker, head of Good Souls. Good Souls taught Abigail to sub press her sexuality. When Good Souls was raided by the police, Abigail felt like she had no family. Her psychiatrist told Abigail that she was in a cult and it was alright to explore a relationship with a man. Abigail followed the psychiatrist advice. Abigail meets Mason outside a BDSM club. Mason is an ex-cop who is trying to correct a past mistake. Abigail is a way to correct the mistake, but is it worth losing Abigail in the process?!?

Sansa Rayne keeps the reader glued to the pages. The story was intense and had me guessing what happens next. Can't wait to read more from this author!!

I would not call this a romance. This was a weird BDSM thriller that had hints of romance but it was really BDSM sex.

It was a thriller about a woman who ends up in a cult for 6 years that gets raided and she has to re-assimilate into regular society -- in NYC of all places. She meets Mason at a club she tries to get into (her court-mandated psychologist suggests that it's time to meet new people) and it's a BDSM club. The leader of the cult (who has escaped capture) used BDSM techniques on her and she liked it. Mason isn't who he seems and the leader eventually comes back for her. It all works out, but it's sloppy.

THIS WASN'T SICK IN THE LEAST....AT LEAST NOT IN THE DEPRAVED WAY. DEPENDS ON HOW YOU LOOK AT IT. IF YOU CONSIDER PEOPLE WHO ENJOY BDSM, CONTROL AND HAVING GONE THROUGH SOME CULT SHIT...THEN MAYBE IT CAN BE CONSIDERED SICK.

BUT, IF LIKE ME YOU THINK IT'S A STORY THAT'S MORE THAN BORDERLINE CRAZY?

IT AIN'T. SO DON'T GET YOUR HOPES HIGH IF YOU LIKE READING DARK, EROTICA WITH TWISTED CHARACTERS AS IN PSYCHOPATHIC SOCIOPATH.

I'M NOT GOING TO DELVE INTO THE STORY, I DON'T THINK IT'S WORTH MY TIME TO TALK ABOUT THIS STORY AT ALL. THE PLOT WAS MEDIOCRE TO ME, NOT EVEN CAPTIVATING OR INTERESTING. THE CHARACTERS WERE BLAND, THEY LACKED ANY WOW FACTOR TO REEL ME IN.

This was a really interesting read! A bit different from most books, a little dark in areas, but really fascinating!

You see the main character coming out of a cult, and struggling to deal with the fact that she was brainwashed, trying to come to terms with what is true and real, and what isn't, and what she really believes.

I think this was a fantastic first book for this author, and I'll definitely keep my eyes on her to see what she publishes next!

This book was fantastic , yes there are things in this book that we may not like but truth is . Human trafficking is a real thing in life and cults so with that being said ! You really need to read this book . With Mason and Abbi there's a story there you can only understand if you read it ... with Abbi spending six years in a cult somewhere she called home to now find out everything she believed is all wrong .. Mason was determined to right a wrong but once he got to know Abbi he wanted so much more ...

4.5 Stars! I kind of really dug this book. It was so interesting with the brainwashing from the cult to realizing the appeal of BDSM. I liked both characters and found the healing through Mason giving Abigail what she needed to be very sensual and erotic. It's been a while since I've read a book quite like this one and have to say...it touches me in all of those naughty places. Full review coming on The Smut-Brarians.

Sansa Rayne’s new book Good Sick is set in New York, and tells the story of Abigail Lamb a 24 year old woman rescued from the Good Souls cult, and Mason, a former cop who has given up everything to try to fix a past mistake at all cost.
This is my first read from Sansa and I loved the detail she put into each of her characters, the hot steamy BDSM scenes, and the overall story. I’d really love to read sequel to Abigail and Mason's story or maybe a spin off of one of the other characters.

Sansa Rayne, a brand new author did an awesome job on her first book. Although, not as dark as my normal reads. It was very well written, had some grammatical error and such. Overall, loved the story she brought to life with Mason and Abigail. Seeing their ups and downs throughout the story. Had a couple dark scenes in it, but very tastefully done. Definitely, give this Author a go and read her first book. I look forward to reading more of hers to come.

This was a good fast read. It kept me on my toes and I did not want to put it down. This story is about Abbi who just got rescued from living in a cult with a sadistic leader. She thinks her desires of pain equaling pleasure is a sin and tries to to hide it. However, fate would have it that she runs into Mason who just so happens to be a very dominant figure with an alternative motive. Together Abbi and Mason discover what is really important.
