Fantastic book on advertising, all about the 1960s and the creative advertising revolution that took place. Talks about agencies, especially DDB but also a few other big creative names and start-ups. Love the history.
But where this book really shines is in preserving and displaying the greatest ads, including both print and commercial advertisements. I loved analyzing the best of the best and seeing how trends evolved over the highly productive decade. This was a really integral book for learning about advertising.
Good inspiration for all of those copywriters and art directors out there. Sure, the ideas are a bit dated, but the inspiration is totally there. I was completely motivated by this book after reading that it empowered me to try to create something new, something fresh and something different at my current job. And it worked. If you're in the industry, you'll love the history and the stories behind some of the first, initial ground-breaking ad work. This is a great companion piece to Creativity Inc. by Ed Catmull. Two different roads to creative excellence. In fact, read this book and Creativity Inc. at the exact same time. At the very least, it will motivate your creativity.
