Deadly Night, Silent Night was quite the interesting novella. The main characters, Rebecca and Alex, had a history of friendship. I really thought the romantic tension that built between these two characters was very nicely done.
Alex had loved Rebecca for years, yet she had married another man. That made for a great situation right there! As their friendship began to move toward love throughout the story, the romance was sweet yet full of strong emotions.
There was a great suspense thread in this novella. I kept trying to figure out who was behind everything that was going on and the author was able to completely surprise me! Now, there were times that Rebecca seemed to not realize the potential danger she was in, but that just made that possible danger feel a little bit more urgent. I enjoyed this exciting story.
An edge of your seat thriller as Rebecca and Alex try to find who is sabotaging her and her store. Well written, and I was intrigued from the beginning. Strong characters with Rebecca a little on the stubborn side. How far will this danger go? Who is doing this? You need to read this book to find out. Highly recommend.
Rebecca took over the store her father had started when he died. With her brother in the service, she was groomed to fill the spot. Loving her job, seeing the expansion to more stores, with the goal to move into other states. Someone is doing pranks just before the holidays there busiest time. Now it has turned deadly with the computers down, elevators not working and now the fire. Alex has know Rebecca and her brothers since they all were children, feelings for her are still there,,and now a widow. A gripping story from the first, with a message if cell phones don’t work, don’t get into elevators. A great story as well as series.
Widow Rebecca Howard is a workaholic, covering her grief by making her store a success. Her father had always wanted her to be a success, so, she's determined to make their family sporting goods store lucrative business. But, trouble has been brewing. Someone has been hacking their computer system and making threats on their store. Alex Kincaid has ghosts from his own past to overcome. He's good friends with Rebecca's twin brother and he's secretly had a crush on Rebecca when they were kids. Rebecca needs to rely on Alex's expertise to catch the criminal who is targeting her business. As they work together, their attraction deepens. I enjoyed this highly-charged, suspenseful novella. You'll be sitting on the edge of your seat as you read this story, and it will keep you guessing until the very end. A good Christmas read.
This is the eighth book in the Strong Women, Extraordinary Situations series. In this book we travel to Anchorage, Alaska and meet Rebecca Howard. She is the CEO of Outdoor Sports & Recreation which has a few stores in Alaska, but she is in hopes of expanding in the lower 48. When her twin brother, Clint, joined the military her father immediately started grooming her to take over the business one day. When her parents were killed in a plane crash she was immediately thrown into a position that required lots of dedication and focus. As the store is getting ready for a iditarod race and sponsorship celebration it is plagued with attempts to sabotage the store. Detective Alex Kincaid has been friends with Clint and Rebecca since childhood and has been known to rescue Rebecca once or twice, but these attempts concern him as more personal than merely trying to stop a celebration. This is a great story with elements of suspense, mystery, faith, and trust. Rebecca is a great character. She is a workaholic and doesn't seem to have any balance in her life. When faced with adversity she must face it head on and succeeds. Alex is a guy anyone would love to have in their corner. The plot is fast paced and engaging with unexpected twists and turns. This is a book I think anyone who love suspense would love. I voluntarily read and Advance Reader Copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This book must have (or should have) been a spin off of some other book. I haven't read whatever that other book might be and all the references to things that seemed to have happened in another story were really distracting to me. I have read all the books in this series and I even went back to double check whether this could have been somehow connected to a book in this series. No connection that I could see. It doesn't seem to be connected to the author's series about rescues and rescue dogs.
The title of this series was so off putting to me that I put off reading the first one. However, the series really is about strong women. One thing the series does have going for it is that the women aren't ninnies.
Plus, the fact that these were more like novellas also put me off. However, I was in the mood for quick, easy reading. These stories were all long enough to set forth a fleshed out story.
I am looking forward to the next book in the series when it is released. I have it on preorder.
The heroine of this book talks freely about her reliance upon God to overcome her fears. It is a big part of why I read Christian fiction. I enjoy reading stories of faith overcoming whatever the lead characters face. The majority of secular books miss that element but it makes books more enjoyable for me. However, the story has a lot of suspense, action, and romance working with the faith element. Rebecca Howard is striving with all she has in her to make sure the company her father started continues to grow on the course he had charted for it before his death and she took over running the company. But suddenly it seems everything is going wrong as they approach their twenty-fifth anniversary of the first store opening. The computers crash, credit records are hacked, power to the building is lost, a transformer is destroyed, gunshots are fired into the front window, and things just keep happening. Ultimately, things get real hairy as it seems the attacks become much more personal. Alex, who has been a friend of Rebecca and her twin brother since childhood, is the detective assigned to the case. He plays a vital role in the story, practically becoming a personal bodyguard for Rebecca. I recommend the book for anyone who enjoys a good faith-based story with suspense and romance. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.
The women in The Strong Women, Extraordinary Situations series by Author Margaret Daley are strong yet vulnerable. Deadly Night, Silent Night, book 8, is filled with suspense and revenge. Indeed, an adventure from beginning to end. Things are happening at Outdoor Sports and Recreation and owner, Rebecca Howard is working with childhood friend, Detective Alex Kinkaid to find out who is behind the sabotage. Alex is protective of Rebecca, is it his job or is he becoming personally involved? Can Rebecca quit trying to live up to her father’s legacy and start to live life the way she wants? The story will put you on the edge of your seat. Just when you think you can stop at the end of the chapter, you find yourself continuing to turn pages. Each book in the series is stand-alone so you can start anywhere but each will keep you guessing and rooting for the heroine!
This is an excellent romantic suspense by one of my favorite authors! Childhood friends (including a twin brother and sister), Alaskan winter, search and rescue dogs, plus a plot line with twists and turns made this hard to put down. I highly recommend.
Loved this one so much, 4,5 stars for sure. Rebecca had a lot of pressure on her and trying to be everything at the same time is not easy. Alex made her see that there's more from life than that. Alex was so protective, loved it. These couple was very cute and I loved them
Loved how this book starts, no slow start for this book and it is fast paced until the end. Faith inter woven throughout the book. Loved both characters. Always love a book that the killer is a mystery right the end.
This was a refreshing romance book. Mystery, romance and faith I couldn't stop reading until late into the night. I had to finish it in the morning. Ok. On to another in the series. Hugs, Betty

There's nothing like a suspense that revolves around the holidays! A huge snowstorm, an electrical blackout, computers down, being stuck in an elevator - even some rats in a crowded store! Ah, nothing says "Happy Holidays" like "Deadly Night, Silent Night"!!! This is another great book with a strong woman character! Someone is out to destroy Rebecca's successful Alaska outdoor & recreational store and for the life of her, she has no idea who it could be. Her childhood friend, Alex, is a cop, and he's going to stick close to her to find out who this person is because the threats keep escalating and soon they aren't just against the store but focus on Rebecca. He's not going to let anything happen to her on his watch. I really like the non-stop action in this book. You never knew what was going to happen next! It's a fast read and well worth it!
Rebecca is a amazing woman. Her father trained her to run the family business. After he passed away Rebecca put her whole life into the stores. When troubles start to happen her good friend Alex comes to her rescue. Watching the way Alex protects her is truly wonderful. This book is so good you won't be able to stop reading it. The author will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next. God is working throughout this book.
Rebecca owns a athletic supply chain store. Someone is trying to sabotage her business: cyber hacking, smoke bombs in building, power transformer with gunshot holes. Can the detective find out who before she becomes the victim?
