Jocelyn Belle is a shy and reclusive - yet very kinky - introvert whose only outlets for exploring her wild taboos are through her successful writing career, and the online kink community, where her anonymity gives her the confidence to be her kinky self. Yet, in the real world, people turn her into a bumbling, stuttering hot mess.
Jocelyn has a very difficult time speaking face to face - especially with guys she’s interested in - so she satisfies her naughty physical urges via clandestine cyber trysts, chatting online with interesting men she’ll never meet in the flesh, from all across the globe.
Suffering from severe social anxiety and depression, Jocelyn gets fed up with her situation and makes a life altering decision, courageously hopping way outside of her comfort zone, and the sheltering confines of her self-imposed prison - her home - to take a part time job, dancing on stage, at Hardwood's Burlesque.
Jocelyn’s amazing journey places her straight in the path of the burlesque’s marvelously meddlesome owner, Mimi, who introduces her to Ryan Mastersen. Ryan is the financial backer for the burlesque, a fan of her writing, and - bar none - the most magically delicious man she's ever set eyes upon. Their chemistry is instantaneous and undeniable.
Will Jizzie finally get to explore her deepest fantasies in the flesh?
Kat Crimson uses her wit and wiles to infiltrate the minds of her characters creating a new wave of Cerebral Erotic Romance, which engages the brains, the hearts and the loins of her readers in equal measure, adding depth and dimension to what was once widely considered to be a genre comprised wholly of talentless perverts. Simply not true.
Kat Crimson is a warrior for the cause, on a mission to prove that erotica can arouse the mind as much as the middle bits and that kink can be quality.
Kat's debut, full-length erotic romance, 'Jizziebelle: Belle of Burlesque' was recently released, and is the first book in her brand new Hardwood's Harlots Series.
This book was such a lovely surprise. I have to admit I was a little worried what with the silly title and all. I received it as a freebie awhile back and just got around to reading it when I was cleaning up my KindleApp. I've read a lot of crappy freebies with stilted dialogue, poorly developed characters and unsexy sex but this was definitely NOT one of those. I was only going to read a little bit to see if it was worth keeping but ended up reading the whole thing in one sitting. The characters were likable and fun and well developed, the story sexy and addictive. This author knows how to write erotica unlike the six others I deleted off the Ipad yesterday. If you want an erotic novel that isn't crap, this one is for you but sorry it's no longer free.
Kat Crimson is one of the most pleasant surprises of contemporary erotica and a great new voice. Her first novel of the future Hardwood's Harlots series is a great example of how smut writing and reading can be an experience that arouses a lot more than our intimate organs. Don't get me wrong. This author sure knows how to write hot, steamy, explicit sex scenes that can get you to fan yourself even if you are not a 70-years old decent church goer with a secret stash of old timey Harlequin romances. Reading Jizziebelle, The Belle of Burlesque caused my blood to boil during more than one of the kinkier moments. However, Kat offers so much more than well written, graphic erotica. Her characters are developed, likeable and easy to relate with. While going through the story I felt close connection even with the minor players in the novel. They felt like real people of flesh and blood rather than cardboard copies that one can frequently stumble upon in contemporary fiction. The writing style is gorgeous and very intense. I could easily imagine all the action, settings and the world created by Kat as if I were watching a live spectacle. From the exquisitely described dance show at the Hardwood burlesque to the steamy encounters between our leading characters, laced with erotic chemistry as well as mutual understanding and acceptance of their kinky nature Jizziebelle, The Belle of Burlesque is a book that would remain with you long time after you finish the last pages. Jocelyn Belle, our shy yet kinky heroine, won my heart from the very first page. Her painfully timid nature, social awkwardness and struggles with communication resonated with me to a point that I wondered whether the author hasn't been stalking me. I think many of us quiet girls can find a lot in common with that reclusive erotica writer who lives her deepest erotic fantasies on paper and screen. That is what I loved the best about her. I'm fed up with the clichés that shyness equals naivety, complete ignorance when it comes to sex, your body's functions and asexuality until you meet the right guy who turns your panties into soaked rag. Ms. Belle may have her issues but she is neither prude, nor ingenue and is no stranger to unusual sexual desires. Her erotic flexibility was another great point of the character. She doesn't limit herself or her wishes into a certain category and is open to all sort of fetishes and kink practices. Jocelyn was locked in the tower of her own fears and a voluntary prisoner in her home till she decided that enough is enough. It was very refreshing that she decided to change her life, face her demons, get over her phobias and that need wasn't triggered by a man. Over the course of the novel she made some fantastic character development. The best way to beat your shyness? Have the entire world see you and your shocking red strap-on in a fabulous burlesque show under the stage name Jizziebelle. One of the best things about the novel was the wonderful atmosphere of friendship and support in Hardwood's Burlesque. Maybe it wasn't entirely realistic but don't we read fiction for the escapism? It was a relief to read a novel without the omnipresent girl on girl hate, nasty competition and back stabbing. Everyone was so cool that I really envied Jizzie for her job and co-workers. Like I mentioned before we are given generous dose from the beauty, glamor and creativity each of those dancers put in their performances. Truly inspiring! And this is when things turn even more dreamy for our girl – after finding confidence, inspiration, new friends and home Jizzie/Jocelyn also meets her match in the face of Ryan Mastersen. I really loved his character even if at times he appeared too damned perfect – sinfully delicious, dominant yet flexible in his bedroom behavior, smart, funny, sensitive and a die hard fan of Jizzie's writing. Their sexual intensity and compatibility were off the charts. But they also shared mental and emotional connection that truly touched my cynical heart. Ryan wanted to get to know and reveal real Joss beneath all the layers of insecurity, fear and self-consciousness. In terms she responded by trying to give him the best of her, by finding the courage to ignore everything that has been holding her back. Overall, it was a truly beautiful love story in which the kinky dirty sex was an ingredient that made the experience more delicious. Aren't we all dreaming of someone who would allow us to be our natural selves? While I really loved the book and the characters I felt that the intimacy and the entire relationship was a bit rushed. True, Ryan had the advantage of knowing her kinky mind and preferences because he read her books. But given how shy and insecure Jizzie was I found it hard to believe that she'd get over her issues in such a short span of time and they'd get to such level of mutual trust and understanding within a few days. I wish that the relationship had taken more time, that the conflicts were not so easy to resolve. This didn't hurt my enjoyment of the book but I felt it could have been a bit stronger if their experience wasn't so tightly packed. It also would have been good if the separate pieces of the novel were not so compartmentalized. The story would have gotten even juicier if Ryan and Joss's love had blended more into the life of the burlesque. But apart from those minor preferences of mine I'd highly recommend that book to anyone who loves their erotica with a good plot, character development and high quality writing. 5 burning stars for Kat Crimson and I look forward to Part 2 of the series for these amazing Burlesque gals.
I adored this novel. It was my first time reading a Kat Crimson novel and it didn't fail to disappoint my heat thermometer! It was erotic, sweet and intriguing. I loved how the story started off with a taste of the main character's writing and inner desires, which connected wonderfully in the middle of the story. I loved Joss. She was innocent, shy, and feisty, which is a very dynamic combination. And Ryan was smoking hot! He's the dream...dominate, honest, romantic and wears his heart on his sleeve.
All in all, it was the ultimate fantasy for any woman in tune with her sensuality. I personally love Burlesque and have my own fantasy of dancing at a club like Hardwood's, so this was right up my alley. And I loved how half the novel was set in a certain place I will not name(no spoilers) and took place over only a few days, yet it felt natural and intimate. I know it's my dream weekend! Le sigh...
Great job Kat!!!
I was given this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Sizzling hot, sexy, and a really good story to boot. Very well written with great descriptions and character development, oh and did I mention hot? Highly recommended.
My Review: Because I haven’t explored too much in the erotica genre, I feel like it requires a different rating system than how I’d rate other books. So I will evaluate based on writing, characters, plot, romance, and steaminess.
Writing: .5 There were a few mistakes that the editor should have picked up on. The prologue had a few mixed tenses, there were several misspelled or misused words, and then there were the odd comma placements. In the beginning there were several repetitive expressions, but you later discover that the constant winking has a backstory. Overall, it wasn’t anything to completely jolt me out of the narrative. They were fairly minor mistakes. In fact, there were a few great quotes:
“It was also about the raw sexual potency inherent in women with an earthier, more natural beauty. How their unvarnished, unspoiled and untainted loveliness – free from artifice or illusion – infuses them with an almost supernatural sensual energy that allows them to draw men in like flies to the spider’s web.” “It’s all fiction and fantasy, even if there are no unicorns and wizards.” “If anyone who wrote anything, only ever wrote truthful things about their own lives, then every book would be an autobiography.”
Characters: 1.5 (Because I liked both characters) The main character, Jocelyn Belle, was a female character I rarely come across. She’s encumbered with social anxieties that prohibit her from exploring the world outside of her home and socializing with other people. Her fears cause her to stutter when she speaks and avoid crowds at all cost. Even something as innocuous as dining at a restaurant will leave her a quivering mess. As someone who suffers from such social anxieties (but not nearly as much as Jocelyn does) I found myself easily relating to her. Not only is she afflicted with these fears, but she’s also the one with the tormented past. It was nice to see the roles reversed, instead of having a dark, brooding male who is the one haunted by his past. Jocelyn’s also not your typical virginal heroine. In fact, she has some rather kinky fantasies which she indulges in her writing or with members of an online kink community. None of her past boyfriends accepted her for who she is, which I find shocking that none of them were interested in her kinky fantasies.
The male lead, Ryan Mastersen, was also a pleasant surprise. Of course he’s gorgeous (which seems to be a staple in most romance novels), but it was his character which drew me in. He’s dominant, but not in the annoying or creepy way some authors portray. He was also kind, gentle, and very open—characteristics that contrast sharply with the typical brooding male. Although he’s had a rather pleasant childhood and a supportive family, he’s been cheated on by every single one of his girlfriends. Another fact I find hard to digest, because he seems like a great guy.
Plot: .5 Jocelyn decides to break away from her self-imposed prison (her home) by auditioning for a job at Hardwood’s burlesque, which instigates the story. In every other situation, she’s awkward. Yet on the stage, she’s able to discard her anxieties and find momentary confidence. It was interesting, and I enjoyed watching her struggle and grow as a character. But as soon as she meets Ryan, the story swerves abruptly to revolve around their sexual explorations. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing—especially since it is erotica—but I personally would have liked more from the plot.
Romance: .5 I enjoyed the interactions between Jocelyn and Ryan. They were passionate, compassionate, and very supportive of one another. But I personally revel in the sexual tension that is slowly built up over a few chapters or so. With this novel, they started engaging in sex the moment they met. There was also a brief moment where their relationship hanged on the balance when Ryan sees a text from one of Jocelyn’s online kink members. But, like I said, it was very brief and resolved rather quickly. I personally would have liked the complication to be explored, which would have opened the plot further. Yet I REALLY liked them as a couple. My only issue is that they only just met, and within a couple of days they become so attuned to each other and grew exponentially—something that would take most couples a long time, especially given her social anxieties and his previously unfaithful partners.
“We had a powerful connection and undeniable chemistry.” “I will always want more of you. I’ve never felt so possessive, of anyone, in my life.” “I want to claim you.” “Joss, I’m not exactly small.”
Pretty standard and a little cliché. But I did appreciate the intimacy of their relationship.
“How a relationship balances, is different for every couple.”
Steaminess: 1 The descriptions were very vivid, and the novel contains various sexual acts. Some of these contained pegging, sensual pegging, strap-on sex, rimming, anal sex, sensual domination, spanking, and creampie sex. I have to admit, I wasn’t aware of some of these terms going into the novel. And even though the novel held such deeds, Jocelyn’s approach was something that resonated with me.
“It wasn’t a fem-dom thing for me. For me, the allure came from the intimacy of the act, and the trust it took for someone, who was typically in the dominant role, to submit themselves to someone’s care.” “My dominant side was more of a sensual one.” “My goal was mutual pleasure in whatever way it happened to come about.”
It wasn’t just about satisfying one’s fantasy, it became more about expanding their intimacy through these sexual acts. In the final chapter, Jocelyn not only succeeds in performing both of their fantasies, but she also acquires the confidence she previously lacked. It showed personal growth and trust between the characters.
“He knew I needed the confidence that would come from pushing outside of my comfort zone for someone else.”
On another note, for erotica fans, I doubt these scenes will disappoint. And it was nice to see a shift in control, instilling a mutual give and take within the relationship.
Holy hell this is one of the hottest books I have read, and I am looking forward to more from this author and series.
Finding content like this is damn near impossible, so much of the pegging content gets over-powered by the humliation and domination aspect of the encounter. Finding a true sensual sharing like this is rare. Authors take note, this side of the male and female sexual act needs more care and ability to write, Ms. Crimson should be used as an example of how to do it right.
I love this little world the author has created at the Hardwood's Harlots Burlesque. The characters are strong, memorable and full of surprises. The story is nicely written and flows with ease.
The erotic moments in this story are a delectable variety of kinky, tender, passionate and panty-melting. Kat Crimson is one of the best kink writers out there. She knows how to give the readers the feels.
I got this book from Instafreebie and voluntarily left a review.
I enjoyed the beginning of the book and the theme behind the story. I felt that the sex scenes were not that hot, a lot of the feeling came from the male lead. I found him to be domineering and a little creepy. Some of his actions during their two days together felt like a set up for a novel about domestic abuse and this came back to haunt all the interactions between the characters.
This review does have vague spoilers but I promise you it's not worth avoiding because this read was sad.
This book actually started off pretty nice, but then really disappointed me??? The writing style was a little more 'casual' than I'd like. Right off the bat, it felt like a LiveJournal entry on someone's blog. (I don't know why I'm using such a dated reference but whatever.) The sexual prose was corny. Like yes this is just a smut book but it was CORNY. Like how does anyone find this hot, CORNY.
But I gave it a little slack because the Cabaret setting genuinely was cool and the opening prologue was nice. There was a nice little setup even though it's clearly kind of bare bones. The book entices you with having, perhaps, a small "plot" and some appeal from the characters. Not much, of course, we all know what we came here for.
BUT THEN... after three sentences exchanged between the hero and heroine... and they just start having sex in the dressing room...? Like uncontrollable, fucking omegaverse "I cannot resist you" sex, in the dressing room? Y'all ? Just ? Met ?
I wouldn't even say I'm a fan of slow burn but Good God. The Hero and Heroine literally just say "HI" and start FUCKING, this is not an exaggeration. And over the course of two days full of sex and nothing else (I mean nothing else.), the hero and heroine feel like they're falling in love? I? Hello? And we're supposed to be touched by this. No, no, no, you decided to make this just a nonsense smut fest so you can't also have 'deep' character growth and the ~poignant~ personal revelations of being vulnerable and whatnot. Like LOL? IT'S BEEN TWO DAYS... If you wanna lean into just vapid smut, then just do that. Maybe just have them entertain the idea of being a couple... but love? LOVE? They aren't even FRIENDS, let alone LOVERS.
After that, I just skimmed it for the pegging scene and fucking left. This book fell from a 5 (a very shallow 5, admittedly) to a 1 at the 30% point.
I feel bad, like I can't be this critical of a erotic book but it kind of set itself up. 😭 Don't begin the read acting as if we should care about any of this then, help??
I have a tendency to get a wee bit cynical when reading erotica. With the plethora of erotica available these days, it takes some skill to snag my attention and make me continue reading. Jizziebelle did just that!
Jizziebelle is an erotica author and an introvert--two things that I can relate to. The story opens with one of Jizziebelle's own erotica tales, and from the first couple paragraphs, I was hooked. It was different, sexy, BOLD. From that point on, I was in love with Jizziebelle.
She's quirky, funny, and sexy. And although she's shy, you'll never be bored. Especially when you discover what's hiding underneath her tutu. *wink*
I also loved that this story has strong secondary characters and an interesting plot. The other people surrounding Jizzie aren't cardboard cutouts placed to frame the sex. Nope, they're interesting, funny, and I'd love to hang out with them. And isn't that the hallmark of good fiction?!
Overall, Jizziebelle offers a good plot with interesting characters and super hot sex. Hot enough to melt your screen. And if you're reading in bed... you'll be glad you chose to. Loved this book!
(I was offered this ARC in exchange for an honest review)
This book was erotic, intense and kept me on my toes. I really enjoyed this book. It was definitely kindle melting worthy. It's the first book that I have ever read on the subject of burlesque dancing. I thought the author did a great job using this for The theme of the book.
~~~~~~~~~~Shar's ★★★★ Review~~~~~~~~~~
Jocelyn and Ryan meet at the burlesque house where Jocelyn (Jizziebelle) dances and where Ryan is a silent partner. The build up in their relationship is VERY quick and very intense. The sex scenes are very hot and not your typical erotica style. If you're not into pegging or rimming, then this is not the story for you. I would have liked to have more description on the burlesque hall and the details of Jizziebelle's dances. Characters are all likable and understandable. History of both main characters is given but without much depth. Given the length of the book, that is not totally surprising, however. The writing is easy to follow and read.
This can be read as a stand alone and does have an HEA.
First in the series called Hardwoods Harlots. Jocelyn Belle is an erotic’s author who is a shy and reclusive person who hides behind her online chats. She decides to change her life and goes to Hardwood's Burlesque for an interview where she is offered a job and becomes Jizziebelle, The Belle of Burlesque . Ryan Masterson is a man born into old money but he has a wild side with his full sleeves of tattoos decorating his arms he likes to invests in places ,and one of them is Hardwood's Burlesque he also likes the writing of Jocelyn Belle . When they meet things get hot and heavy! I loved the inter-action between them and the others in the book. I enjoyed the story and hope there is going to be another book in the series. I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Like the duality of the horoscope sign - Gemini, the otherwise shy and reclusive heroine, Jocelyn Belle morphs into the kinky introverted Jizziebelle. As Jocelyn who hid from the world from behind her computer to being Jizziebelle, the hardcore performer at Hardwood's Burlesque, this is a story, I'm sure many women can identify with. Hot sex are bound to follow when Jizziebelle meets her match in the form of Ryan Mastersen, the financial backer of Hardwood's. This book has an intriguing storyline, explicit sexual encounters and a story of accepting the duality of one's life. This is definately a novel I'll recommend to readers who enjoy unbridled erotica. Well done Kat Crimson! Keep up the enticing writing.
Erotically Lively, Passionate, Exuberant ~ A ***HOT *** One!
The cloak of anonymity is one that guards only our identities, not our passions, not our desires, and certainly not our true selves. It also shrouds our crippling introverted shyness from onlookers. Unless, and until, she has that one breakout, life-changing moment, our heroine Jocelyn, is destined to live in the shadows. Jocelyn meets that moment head-on with full delicious force abandoning her reclusive persona for a more embracing, exploratory one. You will dance in her joy, but watch you do not get scorched ‘cause this is a ***HOT *** one! Lively, passionate, exuberant. Great erotica in a debut novel.
This book was such a page turner! You can’t help but feel for Jocelyn - because the girl’s a mess! She lacks confidence and is so insecure she’s virtually holed herself up at home with little more entertainment than her computer. But oh, the things she gets up to! In her online world, it’s a whole different ball game! Shy, reclusive Jocelyn gradually finds her wings in this story and the outcome is nothing short of breathtaking - Ryan made me dribble in the worst way LOL!
All I can say is MORE MORE MORE. When is the next book out Ms Crimson?
Loads of steam! Steamy read that is an awesome intro book for a promising series. Jizzie is a stage name for an erotica writer who supplements her income right now as a night club dancer at Ryan's establishment. With a few strings pulled by Mimi, the two actually meet and connect in a very unlikely but highly probable manner. Although Jizzie and Ryan find their happy for now and the story ends with Ryan's unprofessed intention to marry her, I'm already hooked on the series and wondering about the matchmaker Mimi. Go, Kat! More Kat! Please? Pretty please?
I was happily gifted Jizziebelle, The Belle of Burlesque: Steamy Romance Exploring Vivid Sensual Erotica, through a promo in exchange for an honest review. I have to say I was intrigued by the sizzling kinky tale about Jocelyn's journey. Book 1 is quite arousing and had me turning those pages to see what she was going to do next. I can't wait for Book 2. I highly recommend to those who love the graphic dark side of TABOO sex! I give author Kat Crimson five stars.
What a fun, hot, sexy ride! This was my first read by Kat Crimson, and I really enjoyed her style. Her narrator, Jocelyn, was very likable, and the sex was super hot. I also enjoyed the intimacy shared between Jocelyn and Ryan. Their romance was steamy, the last couple of scenes in particular, (which by the way, will have fans of anal rejoicing!). The story made me smile throughout!
Oh, and I am totally in love with the cover art :-D
A Kat Crimson novel...can life get any better? Jocelyn is the kind of girl I can relate too, which makes this book even more sexy. I definitely have this on my read and re-read list. I doubt I will tire of this erotic work of art anytime soon.
Love Jizziebelle and Sin. Can't wait to for the 2nd book to come out. Trust me you will not sleep until you finished reading. Couldn't put it down. Good job Kat Crimson and Thank you =)
Loved the way the story starts off - and it only gets better. Hot, quirky characters that resonate and have real chemistry. Sexy scenes and good writing. I'll be looking for more.
Jocelyn is an erotica writer who is also extremely timid in nature and a very socially awkward introvert who, on an alcohol fueled evening, applies to be a dancer at Hardwood's Burlesque. She awakes the next morning to a phone call then an interview in which she surprises herself by accepting the job. Ryan, a silent partner in Hardwood's Burlesque, is memorized watching Jocelyn perform and goes to her dressing room after a show to meet her. Their connection is immediate and electric. There is a desire and intensity neither have felt before, nor have the power to deny. What follows is an erotic, sensual, sinfully delicious, sometimes kinky, sometimes romantic, extremely sexy couple of days back at Ryan’s place. While I loved the book and the connection with the characters, it felt like it moved rather quickly from the moment they were introduced to the level of intimacy, trust, and love they shared. Since everything between them takes place in a matter of days, I’d call this more of an HFN than an HEA. I hope to see more about them interweaved in the books in this series to follow. I would love to learn more about them, see more of their relationship because I did love their connection, the way they instinctively knew each other’s body, the way they kept everything open and honest. I will assure you of this, you will definitely get aroused reading this! HOLY HOTNESS, BATMAN!!
Shy girl unleashes her inner dancer with some hot and sensual burlesque dancing. She starts work at local burlesque club where the family of dancers take her under their wing. She catches the eye of the owner Ryan who knows she has a secret other persona of a writer of erotica. And there begins a very very raunchy affair as they reenact his favourite kinky scenes from her book. Enjoyed the main character Joss coming out of her shell as she goes from introvert to sexovert! The other characters particularly the lady owner Mimi of the club are very endearing. If you like your reads hot hot hot then this is the book for you.
This is a short read but it is sexy and I mean... HOT!!!
review by cassandra Great read about how dancing helps Joss overcome her fear of the outside world, and how she finds love and lust in the process. I loved her character and saw a lot of myself in her.
Only downside to this book is how short it was, maybe the author will write another with Jocelyn and Ryan ... I really hope so, fab couple with a chemistry you can really feel. 4 stars from me.
This is a weak two stars. This story is weak. I didn’t like the beginning part in chapter 1 feeling so personal, like it was the author and not a character description. This story was bogged down with details, but then the relationship/interaction between the two main characters was really fast. At about 50-60% if was really itching to skim to get to something interesting. Even the sexual intercourse parts were boring even though a bit over the top. At 70% I couldn’t take it anymore I skimmed, ai skipped the pegging and don’t even care. I went and read the last chapter (having only skimmed two chapters). Bore. I read the epilogue, bore. I was going to read Dot Matrix (Dottie’s story) before I started reading this, but now——NO. I can’t do it if it’s anything like this. I wish Kat would make more of her stories available in Kindle Unlimited. Her rockstar series and best friends to lovers series are better.
Kat Crimson’s Jizziebelle, The Belle of Burlesque is far more than a steamy read it’s a story about courage, identity, and self-expression. Jocelyn’s transformation from an anxious, introverted writer to the confident Jizziebelle on stage is beautifully written. The author captures the vulnerability of stepping outside one’s comfort zone with honesty and heart.
The burlesque setting glitters with sensual energy but also becomes a symbol of liberation. Jocelyn’s interactions with Mimi and Ryan are layered playful, emotional, and full of chemistry. Kat Crimson writes desire with both sensitivity and fire.
By the final chapters, I was cheering for Jocelyn not just to find love, but to truly love herself. This story delivers empowerment wrapped in velvet and lace.
One of my few 100% smut books. Loved every minute, a true example of how you don’t underestimate the quiet ones. The most quiet, most shy people could be the most spicy people, super sexually charged. Ryan fell for Jocelyn because of her written works online. Combined with her stage persona, he was surprised to see just how shy she was. Finding out she had such a negative self image and reading how Ryan built her up, telling her how beautiful he thinks she is. The epilogue was probably my favorite you find out Mimi made it so that Ryan and Jocelyn would meet, Mimi essentially played matchmaker and it didn’t sound like it was the first time.
Found this to be an entertaining and very engagingly-written story. By taking a courageous leap in the dark and performing a saucy burlesque dance, Jocelyn overcomes her anxities and social phobias. Among the other performers, she finds a supportive community in which she can grow. Then she meets an attractive and intriguing man who has read her erotic fantasy writing. They make an instant connection and things get really, really steamy as they explore fantasies and red-hot sex. Jocelyn, self-aware and introspective, is an interesting character, and her narrative worked well for me.
I received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review. Jocelyn has a hard time relating to people but she can express herself thru dancing. She meets Ryan at a burlesque show and there is an instant sexual attraction. After spending an entire weekend of sex they proclaim there love for each other. The bulk of the book involves that one weekend. This is a very sexy, highly erotic book.
