Technically I would rate it 3.5. It was a little humorous and had some interesting references to a previous work I have never read. Overall, I felt that most of the recipes were overly complicated. I love cooking and am not afraid of a slew of pots and pans after preparing a meal. However, I was expecting a little more simplicity. The author’s instructions for Kedgeree includes the use of 4 different pots and pans. It just really doesn’t seem suited to the title of the book and without any other cooking credentials (that I’m aware of as they are not mentioned in the book), I’m not sure why I would choose his complicated recipes over a more well-known chef’s book.
To be fair, there were some references to hydration but the rest just seemed like “hey you feel bad because you overindulged why not eat this thing I like to make”.
