3. "The Golden Songbook" is a collection of songs and singing games. The entire book is beautifully illustrated and contains many different songs both popular and not so popular. Many of the songs include motions or directions for game play while singing. For example, "London Bridge" has directions for an active game that can be played by the students while singing.
4. This book is from my home library. Many of the songs are outdated and not relevant to the children of today but a good number would work wonderfully in a classroom, especially the ones with built in games and motions.
5. A) A lot of the songs in this book could be used as quick mind break. Many of the songs include game directions and movements to be done while singing. This could be a great opportunity for students to get up, let out their wiggles, and rest their brains... while having a little bit of fun.
B) One of the songs included in the book is "Polly Put the Kettle On". This song could be altered to contain the name of students and each morning a few students could be featured. So, instead of singing "Polly put the kettle on" the class would sing "Lydia put the kettle on".
