A must-have for fans of travel in Spain

DK Eyewitness' TOP 10: ANDALUCIA & COSTA DEL SOL is a great addition to the travel library for any lover of the delights of Spanish travel but it must be said that it isn't detailed enough to serve as a primary source of information for a visit to any of the favourite Andalucian cities - Seville, Malaga, Cadiz, Ronda, or Granada, for example. It can be used as a wonderful supplement to a more primary source of first-time tourist information such as DK Eyewitness' SEVILLE & ANDALUSIA.

What it does marvelously well is provide additional information on specific aspects of Spanish travel - types of tapas, for example; types and brands of Spanish sherries, brandies and wines; possibilities for differently themed cafés, bars, and tapas restaurants. It will also provide you with targeted ideas if you're looking for a particular variety of tourist experience - palaces and castles; churches; villages; hikes and nature reserves; beaches; road trips; museums and galleries. But be warned, these ideas are scattered throughout the length and breadth of the Andalusian region and to see more than a very small handful would take several vacations or several weeks.

Subject to the caution about its limitations, this title and any other in DK Eyewitness' TOP 10 series come highly recommended.

Great little pocket book to accompany you on your travels, lots of useful facts about attractions, places to stay, places to eat etc.. It includes a handy map at the back - perfect for those wanting to plan out their travel route - and two pages of useful spanish phrases. When thinking about Andalucia and the Costa del Sol, I had pinpointed the major towns I planned on visiting, namely Seville, Cordoba, Ronda, Granada, Nerja, and Malaga. These had always been on my Spain To Do list but after reading through this book once, there are many more villages I am looking forward to adding to my list that sound very intriguing. I hope by this time next year this book will be well worn from being carried around Spain in my bag!

Pocket (largish) sized guide to Andalucia, which immediately poses a problem as it's geographically and culturally a very large area. Very much an "edited highlights" volume, and when space is short it's often a very similar potted description for each of the numerous white towns, hilltop, white houses, beautiful churches, which doesn't use the limited space available efficiently. Some good (but small print) street maps of Seville and Granada. Sort of thing which these days is probably best loaded on a tablet or smartphone, but a good general introduction to this wonderful part of Spain

As you might expect from the title, 'Top 10 Andalucia and Costa Del Sol' this is not the most comprehensive guide, rather it gives the Top 10 of various things in Andalucia and the Costa Del Sol. It was useful for some things (Estapona really is a quieter beach on the Costa Del Sol) but there were some things missing (the beautiful, historic town of Olvera isn't even mentioned). I also think it is perhaps geared towards younger travellers rather than families, although there is one top 10 for children! The most useful thing for me was the map! I borrowed this book from the library ahead of a trip to my in-laws house in a small Andalucian village- I don't think I would borrow it again for any future trips.

Decent enough as an illustrated taster before you go and inspiration, but not a substitute for detail and insights of a 'real' guidebook. Nevertheless, our copy was priced fairly so not begrudged. Note that 'free map' is just a reprint of the foldout cover.

Nice try. A top 10 list of many things. What makes the list? What classifies a place as a 5th or a 7th? Magic. At least tripadvisor is free with an adblocker.
