His Bear's Necessity

Rate this book
Growing up, was tough for Jed Creswell, his family struggled for money, and sometimes he had to be a little creative to help put food in his younger sibling’s stomachs. But that’s the past, and for the last few years, he’s been working away from Bear Bluff. Now he’s returned, a reformed character who is determined to work hard and put his brother and sisters through college, so they get a better start in life.

That is until he meets Amanda, his mate, from that moment on he is torn, between the family he has, and the family of his own he wants, with the woman he is going to spend the rest of his life with.

Amanda wants a new life in the town her grandma moved to, when she fell in love with a bear shifter. What she doesn’t need, is a man in her life, she’s done with them. She doesn’t trust them, and doesn’t need them.

However, when her boss, Dylan Taylor, takes on a new employee, Jed Creswell, the way he looks at Amanda leaves her in no doubt he thinks she’s his mate. Growing up with the stories her grandma used to tell her about what it was like to have a bear shifter as a mate, Amanda is tempted into giving Jed a chance.

Until Amanda’s past catches up with her, and she doesn’t know if it would be better for everyone if she moved on again.
She soon realizes Jed is not going to let that happen, not when she’s his bear’s necessity.

This book was a character development for Dylan as well.
It showed what a wonderful thing Steph did with him by letting him in.
He in return lets Jed in despite their past differences.
And of course Jed pays him by earning his trust and working with his full potential.
Jed was indeed a changed person.
He may not have returned as a millionaire like Dylan, but he came back with a stronger sense of duty, and love for his family along with with a stronger moral which meant Dylan could trust him with his life now.
Also, because they were all with flawed past, which made it way easier for them to understand where Amanda was coming from, without passing any judgment and they were all instantly protective of her.
And I think both Jed and Amanda were wonderful people.
Jed accepting his limits with his finances and accepting Amanda's offer doesn't emasculate him rather makes him stronger.
And also it took tremendous strength to accept her help to settle his siblings but he did anyway because they are equals and partners and it is ok for her to want to help his family because it's hers too.
And at the end she accepted that as well offering their first investment to Tilly for cheaper, she understood that's what family did.
This was an amazing read.

3.5 - Stars - Jed and aAmanda's story was just O.K. for me. In the description it states Jed struggled between helping his family versus his mate. It was not as heavy as the description makes it sound. Yes he was concerned. but not so much, because right away he felt as long as he was with his mate they would figure it out.

The story was fast and short...too short. It was a quick feel good story. I loved Jed from the beginning. He is a bear shifter alway willing to do whatever it takes to help provide for his family, even if some of the choices he made got him into trouble when younger.

They were hot together, but not as hot as Step and Dylan from book one. The concept of the story was a very good one, but unfortunately the development of it was not seen completely through. There were also grammatical errors in this one. I really like this series and I look forward to the next one after reading an expert. I really hope the author fully develops the execution of the plot, because it sounds like it is going to pull at your heartstrings, so I am sincerely rooting for it.

She's stupid!

I'm sorry maybe I'm a mean person because I couldn't take all the blame for that jewelry going missing no matter if he stole to feed a kid or not. Sorry, I'm not going to mess up my life for someone like that but then again I'm not having sex in a jewelry store in the first place that's just begging to be robbed.

A good book!

All in all I found this a pretty good book to read. I rather enjoyed the fact that he was poor, instead of our good, but often-used millionaire or billionaire! This book is a good building block in the series, and I'm sure it will be even better with every new character added.

Second chances

Jed had a rough life growing up. Never enough food or other things he resorted to stealing what was needed for his family. Until he was caught and was given a chance to do things right. Back in his hometown, he finds a job that he needs and his mate he never expected. Amanda was running from her past. Determined to be a part of something bigger than herself she moved to the house her grandmother gave her. Little did she know everything she was set against would be exactly what she needed. Another great addition to the series. Can't wait to read the next one.

Reviewed at Shifter Haven

She’d been young and impressionable. She’d paid the price – she’d done the time. Now Amanda was looking for a fresh start, away from the troubles of her past. She had inherited her grandmother’s cabin in Bear Bluff, so it was there that her new beginning took flight. Technically she didn’t need the job to survive, but she did need the job for the interaction with other people, to prove to herself that she was worthy of trust and friendship once again. She hasn’t been completely honest with her new boss and she’s hoping that when she does tell him about her past that he’ll see the valuable employee she’s been… before he decides to fire her or not. What she wasn’t expecting is to find one handsome bear shifter overcome at the side of the office building… as she was as she stood in the doorway. She may be human, but she did have shifters in the family and what she and this stranger were experiencing right now sure sounded like he just found his mate… her.

Jed was looking for a second chance in his home town of Bear Bluff. Now he’s praying that Dylan will look beyond their past as youngsters and give him a chance at a steady job. As he’d approached the small office building he felt… her. His mate was in that building and there was no way in the world that he was ready to find her, but fate had other ideas.

Both Jed and Amanda had pasts that they’d overcome. Starting a future together seemed simple to Jed, for Amanda the future was tinged with fear that her ex would come and ruin her new start, her future. And when he does exactly that, she has one very determined bear and a community at her side. But, truth is, she didn’t need them since she managed to stand up to him herself… knowing she’d be backed up all the way by those that loved her exactly as she is… past and all.

His Bear’s Necessity is a fun, fast paced Shifter romance that is completely satisfying. We get to meet up with the couple from the first story in this series, and that makes a difference to the overall enjoyment of this couple’s story. They have a community that cares and takes care of their own. That’s always a plus in any series I invest in. I enjoyed this one very much. I believe you would too, especially if you like a story that is based on deep family love, and a situation that is completely relatable and believable. I’d recommend this story and series for any Shifter romance reader. It captures your attention and your emotions.

I read this story through my Kindle Unlimited subscription. For ten dollars a month you get access to thousands of really great stories across all genre, and the authors get paid for you reading the story through to the 100% mark. It’s a win-win. Probably the best 10 bucks I spend a month.

Harmony Raines is my very favorite author and boy can she write about BEARS!!! In her Return to Bear Bluff series “His Bear’s Necessity” is the second book and a very good one. Harmony really knows how make her bear shifters come to life. I have not read all of her books, but I have read all of the Bear Bluff, Bear Creel, and Biker Bear series. I love Bear Shifters. Jed Creswell grew up poor and he had to get creative at times to help feed his younger brother and sisters because of a tragedy that left his father crippled and not able to work. Once the Sheriff caught him he got Jed a job out of town to help him get back on the right track. Now Jed is back in Bear Bluff and wanting to do right by his younger siblings. The one thing that Jed wasn’t counting on was getting a job working for Dylan Taylor especially since he had stolen Dylan’s lunch money when they were younger. Dylan was forgiving since it was used to feed his sister. Nor did he expect to find his fated mate on that day. Now that he knows who his fated mate is, he is torn between her and his family. Amanda Peaks moved to Bear Bluff because she wanted a new start, and she had inherited a log cabin and some money from her grandmother. So, she changed her name to Amanda Orson, which is her grandmother’s surname. She knew about Bear Bluff and the bear shifters that lived there because her grandmother’s second husband was a bear shifter, so she knew when she met Jed for the first time that he thought she was his mate. She hides her past from Jed and Dylan hoping they never cross each other. When her past catches up with her she thinks it may be best to run again, but Jed thinks she needs to stay put and let him take care of her past. Will Amanda run again? Or will she stay and fight for her freedom with Jed?

No Spoilers. Advanced Reader Copy read voluntarily.

I was pleased that this book had a storyline other than bear meets girl, mating bond kicks in and everyone lives happily ever after.

Read and enjoy the rest of the plot.

4.5 stars. A great second book in this series.
Well, book 1 grabbed me with everything that was going on and a great group of characters and this book is just as good. I am so wanting to see how this series progresses.
We meet Amanda and Jed at the end of book one. Oh my goodness, I fell in love with Dylan but Jed is running a close second if not tying for first place in my heart.
He made my heart ache with how wonderful he was to his family and how he admitted his past mistakes but would do it all again if he had to.
What a super sweetheart and what a lovely family Amanda now finds herself a part off.
I felt so sorry for Amanda when she tells us of her past but I laughed so much at the way Amanda dealt with Mason when he came back trying to cause more problems. Brilliant.
You can read this as a standalone but reading book 1 first will definitely be helpful.

Steph's and her mother, some would say, are down on their luck. Steph is driving back from the lumber mill with a load when her truck dies. She is on a back road and there is no traffic. Until..She..Heard..A motorcycle coming with her mate on it.
Dylan has not been to Bear Bluff in ten years. Grandpa always comes to the city to see him. Then he feels an electric charge, a knowing. His mate is near, with a broken down truck. It's a good thing he's handy.
He follows her back to the farm and says he will see her in the morning. He finds out the next morning why the place is in need of so much repair and why there are very few animals. You can find out by reading the book.
As they work and play together they get to know each other, do they like what they find out? Can they share their honey with each other? Will Dylan's big secret tear them apart? I volunteered to review this book with entirely my own opinion.

This is a wonderful, heartwarming and intriguing book to read and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. What you will find in this book is: a woman on the run from her past (Amanda), a man/bear shifter with family commitments (Jeb), drama, intrigue, attractions, memories of betrayal, trust, realization of a mate, a note, a blast from the past, attempted blackmail, threats of reprisal, a pepper spray incident, emotional feelings, love and erotic scenes. The story-line and plot is well thought out and written. The characters are well developed with personalities and have feelings of love and desire. I would recommend this book to people that like to read a well written Bear Shifter Romance with a HEA.

Will you let your past destroy your future

Jed and Amanda are mate's and are what each h other are looking for but what each other doesn't want st this time in their life. But life or should I say fate has a funny way of throwing a curve ball at you. When you think you finally got a second chance something always come up and in Amanda's case it comes in the form of her old boyfriend Mason. He just wants to possess and destroy her and her life. But Jed will not have not part of that. And his bear will have no mercy on the guy who wants to hurt his mate or anyone he cares about. You have to read this book. A must read. Everyone has skeletons in their closest. Are you willing to let yours destroy your new relationship?
