Say Yes #2

Say Yes to the Soccer Player

Rate this book
Settling into college is easy, settling into a relationship is another story! Jenny Jeffries loves her first year of the late nights in the dorms, the parties, and the freedom that comes with being away from home for the first time. The girls who flirt with her are nice too, except she can't work up the courage to actually talk to any of them. Just standing next to an attractive female causes Jenny's brain to shut down, which means that she's still single. When Beth Kirkland, the star forward for the university’s women’s soccer team, uses the same drive she has on the soccer field to get Jenny's attention, Jenny turns to her friends for help. She gets advice from her best friend, who is in a committed relationship with Jenny's one-time worst enemy, and another friend looking for the perfect guy among a sea of lesbians. She gets lots of advice, some better than others. Has Jenny finally found the relationship she’s always been looking for? Or will forces outside of their control end their romance before it can even begin?

My second venture into this well done series in what is the worst named books I have ever read. Abby Crofton has again written a lovely pg story of young love, with some of the same characters from the first book. Interestingly our narrator Jenny, was a minor character in the first book and the nemesis of Haley, who narrated the first book. I like how Haley and Kate are now a couple, Kate and Jenny are still best friends now that they are all in Uni, Jenny and Haley have not become friends, but tolerate each other for Kate's benefit.

The characters are well drawn, the story believable and overall a very good read. 4 stars.

I wasn't sure I was going to like this 'cause Jenny, although amusing, was really hard to like in the first book. She's really mean to Haley. Reading this book though, it just seemed like the animosity between Haley and Jenny was just habit.

Although I did like the first book, I liked this one a little bit more because it had a decent ending to it. The people in the Say Yes series are growing on me.

A cute story, unfortunately it had little else to offer.

When I read romance, I more or less expect at this point that most of the conflict is going to internal, maybe a little dramatic, but there really was none. Jenny gets over her "can't talk to girls" thing within a few chapters, then it's just the awkward beginnings of a relationship for the rest of a book. Maybe if it took them a little longer to get together? Or there was some kind of challenge? Or even just if the characters felt a little more distinct from one another?

I don't know, it wasn't a terrible read, I was just a little too indifferent to everything in it to find any enjoyment from it other than the enjoyment of distraction and the act of reading.

Another great and cute story by Abby Crofton! I enjoyed the plot and the delivery. The dialogue was good and flowed really well. I liked seeing a different side of Jenny and her nervous habit around girls she found attractive.

The characters were great and I loved seeing Haley, Kate, and Marie again! It was good to see that they stayed best friends and I loved seeing their interactions. I loved reading Jenny's inner dialogue and thought process. I really felt for her when she was having a hard time talking to Beth. Boy, I definitely understand the feeling of your brain short-circuiting when there's a cute girl in sight. I also felt for Beth when she got injured, that must have been tough. I loved seeing the relationship develop and seeing a softer side to Jenny.

I enjoyed reading this book very much!!

Picking up where the previous book left off, this one is from Jenny's point of view and follows her relationship with a woman named Beth. Haley, Kate, and Marie from the first novel appear as well (as does Haley's annoying sister, Eddy).

I have to knock a couple stars off, because most of the friends are annoying, nosey, and intrusive (including Kate, who I adored in the first book). Crashing a date, constantly asking for information, trying to steal a cell phone, etc. It got really frustrating. Also, the professor's name was dumb.

Charming story

This was a charming story! These characters are so endearing. Very well done! My only complaint is not knowing if Beth has the surgery and has a successful recovery to her injury and how that related to her relationship with Jenny. Will there be a third segment with either Alma or Alice??

If you like a feel good story this ones for you

A coming of age love story and I do mean love story. If your looking for a sex story this book is not for you. There is kissing yes but that’s it. It’s a story about four friends and how they survive college and their love lives.

A very shy young lady gets the help she needs.

A story that has you thinking, could this be you? A couple of college friends takes it upon their own to help their very reluctant friend win the injured player back into the living. Enjoy!

I enjoy Abby Crofton. This is not quite up to 'Say Yes to the Cheerleader' but is still pretty damn good.

First book I've read this year. Been really busy. Booooo!

Honestly, I like the first one better.
Jen annoys me for whatever reason she's really not a likable character and with her POV on this book 1 star down.
She still hates Haley. I could understand that sometimes people gets to you but hello they hang out now and towards the end Haley's the one who helped her to get Beth back. So why?
Thank God for Beth she's also awkward sometimes like Jen but she's straight forward and sweet.

Like the first book this is just easy going nothing major happened, so If you're looking for a YA laid back book with less angst I would recommend this.

I want more of Kate and Haley they're too cute.

Crofton is clearly talented at writing sweet, believable, charming, and lovable stories. I read the previous book, so I was excited to see Jenny finding someone. Crofton did not dissapoint. Beth was sweet, and her tenacity was endearing. I don't think anyone could dislike Beth, and how in touch with her feelings she is. Jenny was just as lovable. Her apprehension and nervousness were well written. As readers, we got to see how kind she is underneath her wry exterior. I look forward to reading the other books in the series. I just hope that the author gives Marie someone as well. It breaks my heart to see her alone.

When is the next one?

We need to have a book so M finds her true love. Yes she Straight but the rest are still gay so it can still be a LGBTQ book. We can't just leave her alone
