The fight back against Quar and the Kandorians begins as the Kryptonite rain falls!

The Master Race #6 is an ok issue for the Kandorians getting their arrogant butts handed to them alone, but there’s a few stupid storytelling choices made along the way that irritated me.

A couple of bits like Carrie saying “Balls nasty!” twice (please don’t make that her catchphrase!) and the Bat-camera conveniently placed are silly, but Bruce telling Clark not to go after Quar when he’s on the run was tactically ridiculous.

Quar’s had them on the ropes this whole time, you can’t let someone that dangerous get away because of some ego-stroking bullshit, Bruce! It does lead to a sucker-punch ending though so I guess that’s why Frank Miller and Brian Azzarello let it play out like that.

Carrie’s vague storyline is also turning out to be less than thrilling. I feel like she should be dead at least twice over by this point - after all she’s been going up against super-powered beings and she’s just an ordinary human! The backup feature with her and Lara wasn’t interesting either. Miller’s art on these shorts continues to be pretty rough.

There are some fun moments in this issue and some less than stellar ones too but generally the story is unfolding quite well - Act 2 of The Master Race ends on quite the cliffhanger and I’m looking forward to seeing how things will be wrapped up in the final act.

This comeback issue is all about kicking evil Kryptonian butts by everybody, uhh, except for Batman and Superman who literally just stood there and fought a single Kandor villain. Superman, up until now hasn't done anything and he might as well not be in these six issues.

For a while there, Batman is right, seeing those Kandorians defeated is satisfying to see, after all they've done. But what happens next are very dumb.

First, Batman doesn't let go of villains and say "let them lick their wounds and feel the fear" or something like that. He fights until the enemy us defeated. Second, it is unnatural for those Kandorians to retreat when the effects of the Kryptonite rain starts to taper off. Kryptonians have super healing! They don't need to regroup and plan the next attack. That is stalling.

I hoped that after the fifth book, things will start to get interesting but book six is a letdown.

I did write the last review on an installment of this series the 8th of July which is a very long time ago which made me wonder what took DC so long.

Miller picks up his story with the Batman and Superman finally kicking back against the good Folks of Krypton who got tired living in a bottle and decided to take over earth and walk among men as Gods. It takes some hero's as Batman & Superman an the ant-like folk from earth to push back the Übermenschen from Krypton. But perhaps the price paid is rather steep.

A well anticipated comic that was long overdue and I am bloody curious where they go from here.

Not bad, but not really great! Lack a bit of everything to reach the next level. Hopefully the next one will come back to what this series was in the previous issues!

This series too a while to get into but now it is going strong. Love the characters, the setting, and the whole storyline. Still two more issues to go. Looking forward to those for sure.

It took so long for these books to come out that I totally forgot about the series until now. That being said, I had a vague idea of what was going on seeing that I completely forgot the first 5 books, but to be fair it's a pretty forgettable storyline to this point. The ending left it in a place of interest, but if it wasn't Batman abc it wasn't Frank Miller, I would have bailed on this arc a long time ago. By the way, "Balls nasty" has to be the dumbest punchline ever!
