One of the first books that my children loved to be read over and over. It is beautifully illustrated and teaches the children to look and find things in the pictures. My grandchildren now love to look through the book often. A classic by the wonderful Eloise Wilkin.
I'm ambivalent about this one. Because my husband and I read it way way too many times out loud and we still know some parts by heart, even more than 20 years later.
"Look up in the tree top, what does baby see? It's a little bird, singing chee-chee-chee."
Groan.
But obviously we read it a lot. Our daughter must have loved it. It was one of her first books that was read to her a lot, if not the first.
Hate it, one star. Did its job perfectly as a beloved and much read very simple first book, five stars. Okay, split the difference and make it 3 stars.
One more from our Eloise Wilkins treasury. Looking at all these images makes me wan to relax more as a mother and let my children wander and explore. Just cannot image letting my baby crawl in the grass. Sigh.
