Suspicious Hearts #2

Waiting for Tuesday

Rate this book
All I ever wanted was a home — stability, hard walls, and roots so deep they could withstand the strongest storm. Through long hours and determination, I was finally on my way, signing contracts for my brick and mortar shop, and beginning to feel settled for the first time in my life.

But the night I met John Eaton I felt that stability crumble. His smile was a mixture of little boy and pure devil at the same time. Handsome and charming, I knew his type, knew the sort of games that came with men like him.

So I pushed. But he pulled harder. I tried to fight it, to shove away the connection that clawed at my heart, but it was too late. Roots dug in, grew deep, and twisted. John fell for me, and I for him. He was impossible to resist. I was his.

But a secret is a dangerous thing. Held too long, it can rip a life apart.

Destroy the man I loved.

Destroy us.

Waiting for Tuesday is a STAND ALONE NOVEL and part of the Suspicious Hearts series. Each book is written to be enjoyed on it's own, while following shared characters throughout the series.

Wow! This was quite an emotional and angsty read. It went in a direction I never saw coming. While part of the switch in storyline might be something I would normally stay away from when choosing a book, I have to admit Ms. Sullivan did an excellent job maneuvering her characters into place.

The first half kind of drove me crazy. There was so much push and pull which can be exhausting, but it’s easier to accept when the motivations are strong. I didn’t feel that that was the case in John and Tuesday’s initial relationship. The reasons for it just didn’t seem to be strong enough and often times within mere moments this couple were pushing when they had just been pulling and it was on both their parts. I almost gave up on them because they were really starting to annoy me.

However, once I passed the fifty percent mark, this story took off and I couldn’t be happier about the fact that I stuck it out. While I never really connected with Tuesday, I became deeply invested in John. And when he has his epiphany I was in tears.

This was well written and overall I enjoyed it and will definitely be checking out more from this author.

Breathtaking. Absolutely amazing. I loved this story so much. John was just HOT and he was so caring and loving. He didn’t think he could do relationships but when Tuesday walked into the club he was working as a bartender one night it all changed for the better. John could not quit thinking about her and then when he found out he would be the one remodeling her new business it was even better. Tuesday was shy and didn’t normally go out with guys. She had a one night stand with a guy that she didn’t even know his name and regretted it and then Becky talked her into going out to have drinks with her and she saw a commotion at the bar and the sexy bartender was being drooled on by lots of women. She could not help but think he was hot but she wanted to keep her distance too because she did not want another one night stand. Then when she is working on getting her building remodeled and finds out he is in charge she is not so happy about it. Then one thing leads to another and she has a smoldering hot kiss with this man and can’t quit thinking about him and the kiss. This is such a great story. They both had no relationship with their dads and they ended up going out and falling in love with each other and even though they had some things come up they were about to work through them together. Such a great story… LOVED!!!!!

Enjoyable

I'm really torn on this book. This is the third book I've read by this author and it was definitely the messiest in terms of typos and editing needed. I enjoyed the story, it was interesting, had depth and had some interesting turns. At the same time though,I feel like it lacked some of the magic her other books have had. In a way it felt like this book was rushed, the characters didn't seem as established in their traits as others.

Overall it was a good read but not as good as her other books (still better than most contemporary romance available)

I loved Waiting for Tuesday. This is the story of Tuesday and her struggles not just with her own fears but also with hurdles she never thought she'd have to jump. It made me cry and smile. A definite feel good book. I received a free copy for a honest review.

This is the first book I read from this author and it was breathtaking. This is the second book of the Suspicious Hearts series. This can be read as a stand alone. You meet other characters but you can understand the storyline without reading the first book. I could not put this down. I read this book in only twelve hours and I was amazed when I was done.

This is the story of Tuesday and John.

Tuesday is a different type of beauty. She is more of a casual type girl and not into fashion like her best friend Becky is. She just got out of a relationship and she is not ready to settle down yet. One night she does something that she is not proud of and she just wants to forget and move on with her life. She is about to live her dream y opening up her own store. When she was a little girl she and her mother moved around a lot and now she is trying to make a stable life for herself. Everything is going good until she meets John Eaton. She thinks she knows his type but is the really who John is? Will she stay away from John or will she open up and give him her heart? Will she get all her dreams to come true or is there something else in store for her?

John Eaton is a very handsome and charming man. He knows what he wants and he always gets what he wants. He has a smile that will make any woman weak in the knees. He has a loving family and friends but he still does not fell complete until he sees Tuesday. He feels the chemistry immediately but Tuesday knows his game and she will not have it. He loves to play games but will he win this one? He also is hiding a dark part of himself that he just can't forgive himself for. Will he open up to Tuesday about his past or will the past come and find him? Will John win his girl or will secretes tear them apart for good?

I loved this book and all of the characters. Tuesday and John will be your next favorite couple. You will be rooting for them all the way through. They will have to go through some hard times but they are strong. This story made me laugh, and got me frustrated and also had tears in my eyes. This book has shocking secrete that you will never see coming. This story will have you thinking that life never happens the way you want it to. I hope this author puts out a book about her best friend Becky. I would love to see if a man can make her settle down. I'll be one of the firsts to buy it.

4.5 stars!!

Here's how reading Waiting For Tuesday is going to go: First, you're going to be excited. Then, you'll be a little bit pissed...maybe a lot. Then, you'll be a little sad. Next will come happy and believing in fairytales. After that, your heart is going to squeeze and an ache will spread out into your chest. Then, you're going to cry.

Not a simple 'that's so sad' little tear.

Full on, ugly 'don't-read-this-part-in-public' cry. Granted, it could have been that I was super tired from reading until 1 am & forcing myself to put the book down so I could get 4 hours of sleep, but whatever.

I'm not even kidding. You're going to go through all those emotions reading this book. It's SO good. And you're not going to believe that twist! Holy cow! Talk about a cliche breaker.

Tuesday and John are so sweet and funny together. And so heartbreaking. They're one of those couples you're going to root for from page one (okay...maybe page 10).

My ONLY complaint, & the reason I'm taking half a star, is that John didn't get more page time.

I liked getting to know John! He has a lot of back story and way more to him them what you see in Home To You. (PS I was grateful to have glimpses of Jake and Katie! I loved their story and was glad to get a couple snips of them in this one) He's strong minded and his generally light demeanor balances the stress that Tuesday constantly puts out. Their meet cute was fun and their instant switch from flirtatious glances to arguing was interesting to read. It wasn't what I was expecting after reading about her one night stand, I figured they would let the attraction win out. But it made it all the more interesting later on. You got to see them unfold more before they let the physical attraction take over. Made it more relatable rather than the insta love. I liked Tuesday's drive to be an entrepreneur and she was a person all her own. Her background didn't define her but molded her to make her a unique character. I was not expecting the turn and was happy with the overall plot and gained more respect for each of the characters throughout. I liked how John's character played out more than I would have thought (if I were to know in the beginning). It was an important and impactful message.

Tuesday is as unique as her name. Raised by a hippie mother, she is surprisingly interested in being more grounded and is determined and ready to pursue her dream of a brick and mortar store.
She's sunk all of her savings into this and is stressed beyond belief. After a one night stand sneaks out of her place, she's reminded once again why she doesn't pursue those types of relationships. So meeting John, a hottie bartender, was a great thought for a second but not something she was interested in beyond looking.
But when John turns out to not really be a bartender, but the head contractor who is in charge of making her dream shop a reality, he becomes a lot harder to resist. There is obvious attraction, even though they are pretty much opposites.
After seeing Tuesday at her most vulnerable, John's simple attraction becomes more. As they both stop fighting each other, they realize they have potential to be a lot more. They fell hard and fast. However, in order to have a future together, they have to face the past that's threatening to interfere. John has some demons in his that he never addressed. All while Tuesday's choices are coming back and shaking her whole world and plan upside down.

FIVE STARS
Waiting for Tuesday by Taylor Sullian is totally five star worthy. A great story about a man who had a rough and rocky start who meets a girl who was raised in a gypsy lifestyle and how they couldnt deny the attraction between them to the point that they couldnt stay apart no matter the curve ball that life threw at them.
Tuesday Patel just bought a store and has hired a contractor to come and remodel it for her to make into her actual store for the products she has been selling on Etsy for the last 3 years. A purist at heart she has created her own line of creams and lotions, lip balms and soaps. She is now putting it all together into a space that houses a store in the front and a production area in the back so that she can fullfill orders and make new supply.
John Eaton was abused as a very young boy. He spent a short amount of time in a foster home before being rescued by the Eaton family who his father ended up giving the rights to adopt him. Raised with 3 big sisters John loved his family but never saw himself as a "relationship" man. Helping out at his Uncle Dom's bar one night he sees this woman with masses of wild hair and he cant help but stare. There is a pull there and he doesnt understand it.
Jake Johnson is the owner of the construction company that Tuesday hired to do the work on her store. Jake and his wife are expecting a baby and she was put on bed rest so Jake is taking some time off to stay with her and has assigned John the job of managing the work on Tuesdays store.
After their encounter at the bar Tuesday isnt sure it is such a good idea and is furious. John tracks her down and explains things and gets her to agree to let him do the work. Now she is having to deal with him every day. But will they be able to deny the attraction? Can they do this without giving in to their desires?
Just as things are getting serious a bomb hits and nearly destroys everything. NO SPOILERS. I am going to stop here. It was a great book. Brought tears to my eyes in few places. It was well written and the characters were formed fabulously.

Waiting For Tuesday - Taylor Sullivan – 4 Stars

Waiting For Tuesday by Taylor Sullivan is the story of a woman named Tuesday who is more hippie than chic and loves to wear a good pair of overalls while mixing her own soaps and lotions. She is working towards her dream of opening her own store, setting down roots, staying in one place, making a permanent existence after being raised by a free-spirited mom.
John is a contractor by trade who is a knight in shining armor, nurturer, a protector, a good friend and a soul with a past he ignores. He was raised by a loving, kind family and knows what he wants out of life or does he?
THEN there is Tuesday’s friend Becky. She actually might be the “Becky with the good hair” Becky. She’s the best friend, the confidant, the one who will see Tuesday through thick and thin and still be honest about everything.
Here is one of my favorite exchanges between Becky and Tuesday:
“Exactly”, Becky uttered. “And who cares if you’re a slut anyway? There are lots of perfectly happy sluts in the world. It could be fun”? ... “Like who?” “Umm, Joey Tribiani. Total Slut…All the women on Sex and the City, Mrs. Roper. Blanche Deveraux,”… “Are you comparing me to one of the little old ladies from The Golden Girls?” Hehehe, I adore Becky!
John and Tuesday meet while he is bartending at a friend’s bar, then it turns out he is doing construction on her new business and sparks fly. John doesn’t do relationships and Tuesday has only had a one night stand in the last 13 months (year and a half according to Becky who may not be good at math). Their relationship is sweet and funny and steamy and breathtaking and heartbreaking and sad and everything in between.
I was a little nervous at the end because I only had about 5% left to read and wasn’t sure the story was going to resolve itself. But it did, perfectly.
This is a standalone book and is NOT a cliffhanger (thank goodness, not sure my heart could have taken it). Is it too much to hope that Becky will have her own story soon?

Taylor Sullivan just added herself to my “must reads” list after reading Waiting for Tuesday, the second in her Suspicious Hearts series. Lucky for me, Waiting for Tuesday can be read as a stand alone novel, as I was not aware it was part of a series until I finished reading. The story revolves around Tuesday, the daughter of a “hippie” with a wondering soul and a traveler’s heart and a father that disappeared before her birth. Having never known one place as home, she joins her best friend in LA, to plant some roots and live her dream of owning a brick and mortar boutique selling her homemade items. John is everything Tuesday tells herself she doesn't need: too charming, too handsome, too spontaneous, and just too good to to be true. Yet John's past is just as full of questions and empty promises as Tuesday's. However, once they both begin to let each other in and to trust themselves, a terrible secret threatens to tear them apart.

I loved this book. Ms. Sullivan’s writing and descriptions were completely engrossing and I was pulled in from page one. Reading it pulled me right into the pages and lives of Tuesday and John as the story played out. I was totally caught off guard by what the secret was, and how it played out. It was a twist that I wasn't expecting at all. However, it added so much growth and depth to the story, that it made the ending that much sweeter. My only reason for giving this book 4 stars, instead of 5, is because I felt like I needed to know more about Tuesday, how she resolved some of the issues with her past. I could see all of the facets and depth in John’s character, but I didn't get that completely rounded feeling from Tuesday's character. That being said, this was still one of the best contemporary romances that I've read this year. Two thumbs up! I definitely need to go pick up book one of this series, and can't wait for book three!

2.5 stars.

It was fine... What can I say?

Let's start with the good things:
The characters are cool. They are distinguishable, are capable of the readers love and understanding, have their reasoning, and full of flaws.

John is lovable, though when I understood who he is in relation to the first book in the series I was surprised he could be charming without the horny side effect. He was cool.

Tuesday was fine, too. She was bubbly, vibrant, sweet... I could emphasize with her... Until the big reveal.

The side characters were fine, weren't really worth mentioning because they are like ghosts in this story, not really there. Lisa, John's sister, for example, is there only to enhance the plot when dumping an irrelevant information.

The reminders to the first book were cute and fun.

John and Tuesday's relationship was really fun to read about.

The writing is good.

Less good:
The only obstacles are created by not communicating and getting too 'in their on heads'. They show these characters as being so wonderful, and then the problems are about communication, after the fact that along the book until some points they are very honest and open about so many things that make others uncomfortable saying. So why now?

It was very slow, and I felt as though it did not have so much meet as a love story. We don't really know our characters at all, and some of their connection was lacking because of it.

The reveal was kind of sad for me. She did her best to make a good ending, and I understood she wanted something new to spice her book, but it didn't work for me.

It hadn't wowed me. In all aspects. It took me so long to read it, it isn't a good sign. In the other hand, I didn't put it down for a while for me to rest from it, and this is pretty good.

If you know the genre and want another one to read - take it.

Waiting For Tuesday tells us the story of a girl named Tuesday who is desperately seeking some stability in her life. Born to a hippie mom and a dad who left, Tuesday and her mom traveled her entire child life.

Tuesday has found her calling making soaps, perfumes, and other good smelling supplies for women. She has a successful Etsy store but wants more, so she purchases a small shop to put down some roots for the first time in her life. Though she wants her store to become really successful, her real dream is to have a family by her side. She wants nothing more than to become a mom.

Because of this, when she meets a dangerous man named John Eaton, she runs. John is just too good looking to be any good so, after their first meeting (and initial chemistry), she jets and vows to never see him again.

That becomes really hard when a few weeks later, he is the man in charge of fixing up her shop! Determined to keep her distance, she stays in the other half of her shop while he fixes the other. However, their chemistry is hard to deny and they start spending some time together.

The two really start to fall for each other when a mistake threatens to break them apart! Readers will root for Tuesday. You will want her shop to succeed and, then for her to find love and become a mom. You will distrust John also but, as the book continues, you will really find out that he is a stand up man who deserves Tuesday.

I really enjoyed this book. The characters are very believable and likeable. I really rooted for them, hoping that they would make it through the mistake!

Waiting For Tuesday by Taylor Sullivan is the second book in the Suspicious Hearts series, but can be read as a standalone. I read this book as a standalone and never felt like I was missing something or left out.
Tuesday grew up living the life of a hippy with her mother. Traveling all over and not ever really having a home has made her desperate for a place to call her own and to set up roots. These feelings have lead to her wanting to open a shop for her business instead of doing everything online. When her project manager has a family emergency she ends up having to work with someone who did not make a great first impression.
John is living his life not looking to get close to anyone. A relationship is the last thing on his mind. When his friend ask for a favor he says yes automatically, but he never thought the owner of the shop would be the one person who could change his whole outlook on life.
With Tuesday wanting to settle and plant roots, and John still running from his past how can these two find a way to make it work? Will secrets they are hiding ruin them?
I started this book and could not put it down! I literally finished in hours. There were times when I just felt the pain that Tuesday felt, feeling like she never belonged in one place and just wanting stability in her life. The character development and the way we see them bond and grow is phenomenal and I really just enjoyed it. The mystery of the secrets just keeps you reading on and curious about what the next turn will yield. I highly recommend this book to anyone as it is truly a great story!

Waiting For Tuesday
A Suspicious Heart Novel
By Taylor Sullivan
☆☆☆☆☆
This is a novel. Full length story with a Happily Ever After.

Tuesday a hippie child. Her mother was as well, she started it all. She has always had a nose for mixing things together, and presenting new smells. Also cares about her health and eating healthy foods. Tuesday is starting up her shop, to expand her in house business. She has started from the ground up, to fulfill her dreams. No time for relationships, none worth talking about anyway. Til she meets Donovan.

John is a construction employee and bartender. Grew up in a loving home, after he was adopted. Holding a lot of hurt as well as hate for the man he remembers hurting and leaving him. In helping his buddy Jake, he accepts a job as crew boss. Taking over the job site for Jake.while Jake takes care of some family issues. Meets Tuesday his client and hates her already. But we all know how a love hate relationship can end up.

Great story filled with many emotions. Get out the tissues, cause after to laugh you are bound to cry as well. True to life experiences. Just the way only Taylor Sullivan likes to write them. Her book is filled with love, compassion, trust, honesty and disappointments. She includes everything needed to make for a true relationship. Every challenge imaginable and how to work through them. I love her writing style. I hope to see more books from her. Way to write it Taylor Sullivan.

Didn't finish

I think this book might have some good things going for it. Our characters seem likeable, but... It just didn't work for me. At all.

I'm boooooored... I thought I ought to finish it - they'd gotten together and I just really don't see much more interesting happening - no matter their background (that they keep hinting about in a really annoying way). But then I realised I'd only passed the 50% and OMG there's no way I'm gonna finish this :-/

I think part of it is that the characters seem to over-complicate things and I'm just not buying it. The second is that they went from hating each other to being totally in lust in a few pages - it's this progression that's the best part, I don't want it done that fast! The book also seem to skip out on what is happening and instead described that suddenly they flirted a lot, but we never witness it... Finally, I'm so so tired of hearing about how enormously gorgeous he is and her being pretty much "ugly" in overalls etc. I never once heard him describe her in a way where I believe that he thinks she's hot...

Anyway, I remember liking the first book in the series (though I cannot for the life of me remember what happened), but this really wasn't worth my money - sorry.

DNF
This book is just weird. It starts with the heroine hiding in a cupboard from the stranger she picked up but can't remember fucking because she got blackout drunk. When he does a runner from the kook in the wardrobe, she gets emotional about not forming a relationship with him, despite not remembering anything about him-including his name. WTF!

Then her friend convinces her to go out to a bar and this is where I started to dislike her. She is attracted to the bartender. She described him as a man "Who enjoyed life a little too much. The type of living I was trying to break away from." Really? She doesn't want to enjoy life? Probably why she is such a bitch to the man who is kind and helpful just because he is attractive. It doesn't get any better. She keeps being rude to him. When she finds out he is to renovate her shop she is beyond rude. If it was a man behaving like she did you would label him an asshole in a heartbeat.

I am so sick of reading characters who are so miserable. I want to read about women who dance at the party and jump in the deep end. So, moving on.

If this isn’t the definition of an emotional roller coaster, I don’t know what is. While I liked Tuesday and found her charming and charismatic, it was John I became heavily invested in. What a difference from the man we met in “Home To You.” To see who he truly is as a man who loves rawly and deeply with his entire being had my heart in knots the entire book.

I loved how their relationship progressed fast. There was no bullshit, just pure passion from the get go. I was hooked on their love story.

However…

To say her pregnancy was a total plot twist is an understatement. I did NOT see if coming, and all I could think is “where the hell is this story going?” It happened so fast, seemingly out of the blue.

But to the very end (minus still not knowing what the hell was wrong with Em, and that bugs the shit out of me) this book was written beautifully. John’s epiphany at the end had me in tears. I would recommend this book as a stand alone, but I do think reading “Home To You” will help you appreciate John even more.

An excellent second book in the Suspicious Hearts series! The characters were fantastic, they had a lot of depth and character and were very likeable and relatable. The plot was well executed and the twist on the standard employee-to-lover theme was unexpected but I enjoyed it very much.

I would love to see further books in the series be written but I can't see anything on the Authors page that suggests there are more to come. So I beg of Taylor Sullivan, please, please give us Em's story, I have a feeling its going to be thrilling.

How can i describe the book?
It was okay.
It's a quick read. But i just didn't liked Tuesday, her whole character made me so uncomfortable.. the beginning of the book was really nice, but after that it just goes down.

But John was a nice character, especially when he meets his Dad i really did loved that scene.

Overall it's a quick read but nothing special.

This started great, with characters that demanded your attention and left you curious, but it was just not my thing by the middle of it. The whole “we both have father issues” didn’t work for me and I think it didn’t do anything for the story, just gave the main couple a push to be together. It was just an OK book.
