Fostered by Love #1

The Wonder of His Love

Rate this book

THE WONDER OF HIS LOVE is book one of the Christian romance novella series, FOSTERED BY LOVE by Kimberly Rae Jordan. Noella, Erin, Tennyson and Forrest might have aged out of the foster system, but they didn't age out of each other's lives. Follow these four foster siblings as they move past their troubled beginnings to find love.

Please note: THE WONDER OF HIS LOVE is also part of the boxed set: CANDY CANE KISSES (ASIN: B01HPP4Q34)

Noella Crawford watched as her mom fell in love over and over again, only to have the men take advantage of her love and leave her broke and brokenhearted. When her mom eventually abandons her daughter in order to keep the love of her latest man, Noella is determined to never repeat her mom's mistakes.

After devoting several years of her life to university and then setting up a bakery business with her foster sister, Noella is finally ready to turn her attentions to a relationship. But she has two very high standards that any man she dates must meet: he must match or exceed her own financial position, and he must be driven to succeed in whatever field he has chosen for his career. And love is optional.

If there is one person who might cause her to re-evaluate her requirements and the love part, however, it's Finlay Kinnaird. Except he's a mechanic. And lives in a trailer park.

After leaving his Scottish home six years earlier, Finlay Kinnaird has floated around Canada for several years before finally putting down roots. In the year since Finn first met Noella through her foster brother, he has found himself drawn to her quiet, yet intense, personality. Even though it appears to be with a bit of reluctance, Noella agrees when Finn asks her out. Unfortunately, on their very first date, Finn discovers that they have very different views on love, marriage and finances, and he's not sure they can work past them.

Compromise and trust are the only way things will work between them, but is that even possible when Finn longs for the type of relationship his parents have while Noella fears becoming her mother? As Christmas looms ahead of them, will they find a way to experience the wonder of love? Or will this be a season of heartache for them both?

Stayed tuned for THE SWEETNESS OF HER LOVE the second Christian romance novella in the FOSTERED BY LOVE series coming in November 2016.

I became a fan of Kimberly Rae Jordan while reading the Callaghans & McFaddens series. Not only does she write clean romances, but she also does so with great skill. Fans of Christian fiction will be well rewarded by reading Ms. Jordan’s works. The Wonder of His Love is the first book of the Fostered by Love series and predates the Callaghans & McFaddens series. I discovered that yet another round – Black Thorpe Security – predates both. It is likely not by chance that some key players in the Callaghans & McFaddens show up in the pages of this offering. As a result, I find myself reading these series in reverse order. Consequently, I knew the moment Noella indicated a romantic interest in Bennett – a protagonist in the Callaghans & McFaddens – that it would never happen because I already knew Bennett’s story. I speculate that readers might be well served by reading these series, as well as the books in these series, in sequence.

As in her other works, the characters are well developed and the story well written. Not unlike many eBooks, more editorial errors slip through than the author would like, but these are not significant distractions. The setting for all the books I have read by Ms. Jordan is Winnipeg, Manitoba so non-Canadian readers will learn something of Canadian culture through this and other publications. Additionally, Ms. Jordan continues to tell the tale of real people in real-life situations.

Abandoned by her mom, Noella Crawford is sent to a foster home. Her mom was terrible with their finances, and she's seen her mother be taken advantage of, financially, by men. Noella is determined not to repeat her mother's mistakes. When she meets Scotsman Finlay Kinnaird she's attracted to him. However, Finlay is only a mechanic, plus he lives in a trailer park, and Noella is the successful owner of a bakery. No way does she want to lose her heart to a financially unstable man, but, there's just something warm and caring about Finlay...what should she do?
This is a nice, engaging Christmas read. I loved reading how Noella struggled with her issues with finances and romance.

I discovered this Christian Christmas series set in Canada, and I'm smitten! I love that the premise of the Fostered by Love collection is of four children who are raised together in a foster family who become their own found family. Noella kicks off the stories, and it's remarkable to see how diligent and driven she is with her co-owned bakery after all she has had to overcome. Finn is the perfect counterpart to her as he attempts to show Noella her value apart from work and finances. The sibling dynamics are special, revealing how God sets the lonely in families in a variety of ways.

The messages of hope, forgiveness, and trust shine brightly in this Christmas novella. Finn is a delight, and his grandma is even more of a charming character. I love how everyone is able to grow in their spiritual maturity based on the wisdom of others. Readers looking for a quick escape to Winnipeg will experience the pure winter cold, alongside some hockey, Tim Hortons, and reminders of God's provision and care during a Christmas season filled with His wonder.

💞 Noella and Finn 💞

I loved this story! Short, but oh so sweet and tender. Noella grew up with a single mom who made several bad choices in men. As a teenager, Noella went into foster care, and determined to herself to not end up like mom.

Finn is a transplant from Scotland and is good friends with Noella and her foster siblings. He has been smitten with her almost from the start. However, she remains distant with her pledge, of which he has no clue about. Can this Scotsman thaw the ice around her heart?

I loved Finn and could hear his Scottish brogue while reading! Looking forward to Erin's story next ❤️

My review got lost in the ether so I am trying to rewrite it. This was a nice novella-sized introduction to a series surrounding people in and from foster care. Noella was abandoned by her mother and survived foster care by forming bonds with others including Eve and they started a bakery to support themselves. Finn comes from a rich family in Scotland but arrives in Canada to start on his own. What she sees is a mechanic who lives in a trailer which triggers her insecurity over money. What she doesn't know is that he owns the garage and the trailer park along with other ventures. Suffice it to say that it takes a real honest conversation to get them back on track. I am looking forward to more in this series.

This is one of the best series of this type I have read. Foster children and their lives as children into adults made this a bit different, as each of the main characters still brought their own childhoods and the gift of good foster parents into the stories. Sometimes a series has a weak book within it - but these 4 books are solid writing, good characters and plots, as well as providing a reason to read on.

Take the time - read all four - it is with the time.

Misunderstandings

Because of the way Noella grew up, she was understandably rather naïve about how men and women handled financial affairs when they began considering marriage. She received some good advice from her foster sister, Erin, and things began smoothing out between her and Finn, just in time for her to meet his precious Gran. I love good endings.

A fresh, wholesome novella about new love and the nuances that come along with its acknowledgement. The story of Finn and Noella was realistic in that I could see this really happening. Two people falling in love from two completely different lifestyles and facing their realities honestly to make something of what is growing between them. This was a warm fuzzy read.

Lovely

A really lovely outcome for someone scarred by abandonment. Love the ' family/siblings'. Is so good to read of loving, caring relationships where siblings 'look out for each other'. Nice to see things work out well, as the character heals from her fears. Nice that can read the next book in line now too😊

Torn

This book left me torn because I really hated how the main character Noella treated the guy Finn. Finn loved her and saw a future with her. She didn't trust him, she wanted much more

Very touching... and slightly ironic

Novella had been deeply hurt by her mother's abandonment. It gave her a skewed perspective on relationships. Film's love was healing, and helped her to see herself differently.

Great love story!

Loved the characters Noella and Finn. Noella had a hard time trusting that anyone could love her because she grew up in a foster home. Finn was the local mechanic. Could they find love?

Trust love

Book one in this series is about a foster girl who has been in love with Finn for nearly a year when he finally asks her out she has to deal with opening her heart and trusting again after her mum left her when she was 17.
A sweet read in a small town.

Great story

An immigrant meets a girl that was in foster care after being deserted by her mother.
She is doing okay with her business partnership & is fearful that she might fall into traps like her mother did.

Even when foster care is good, it is as a result of brokenness. I thought this book did a good job of portraying that brokenness and the growth that can happen in spite of it.
