No More Yawning!
It's monkeyshines at bedtime in a story as infectious as yawning! The second Florence and Arnold story, following NO MORE COOKIES.
Seven o' Time for Florence and her plush pal Arnold to hit the hay. Florence must be tired--her yawns are getting BIGGER by the minute. But neither little girl nor toy monkey can possibly go to bed. Not now. Now when there are good-night kisses to give and lullabies to sing and stories to tell and sheep to count! These two are driving Mom BANANAS with their stay-awake shenanigans, and soon she's yawning, too. Good thing she know the secret to falling asleep....A story as infectious as yawning--with a bonus section of sleep tips!

The tips for falling asleep, at the end of the book, are practical.
As for the story itself, it reminds me a whole lot of the author's earlier book, "No more cookies." Nonetheless...
FIVE STARS for tale with a mother who takes charge and actually gives gentle direction to her child.
Although it's true that (in my beliefs, at least) children come to us fresh from God,
what else is true?
Children come to us knowing nothing.

In this book, a little girl is trying to get to bed and fall asleep, but her stuffed monkey keeps trying to get her to stay awake and do different things together like drawing pictures and singing songs, and telling stories. How will she get her monkey to sleep so she can sleep too?

This review is being written by William's mom. William claims not to like this book, but all the evidence suggests otherwise.
William saw this book laying open on a couch in the corner of the children's section of the library. He immediately started reading it. Specifically, he was interested in the back section which has tips on falling asleep. He was so interested in this book that he continued to read it long enough for me to select all the other books I planned to checkout. I had to pry it loose from his hands to take it with us.
He read it in the car and a couple of times at home. He even quoted from this book and inquired about some of the things it said, which means he was thinking about it when he wasn't reading it.
But when I asked what to rate it, he said to give it one star. I think he was joking, because there was no indication that he disliked this book. So, I'm overriding his rating and giving it the five stars it deserves.

This book perfectly described bedtime with my 2 children (ages 4 & 8). At the end of the story, the author gives tips on falling asleep (no naps, exercise, soft music, no soda, darkness, and regular and relaxing routines.)

I love that it is really on the level of the child and that when the mom does lose her temper, she apologizes and they learn from that. Just seemed much more true to life than others and healthier. Yes, we lose tempers, then we fix it.

cute pictures but too many words...and not in a level above the girls reading range, just too many that weren't necessary.

She is a little like Junie B. Jones. She likes to stay up instead of going to sleep. I like her monkey and I like her pictures.

A little bit long getting to the point (just like getting kids into bed), but it is one of those books that's the story of your life.
