When opposites attract, the sparks ignite more than they bargained for...

Dylan Tehauno is a hotshot, an expert in preventing and fighting forest fires. He knows that the inferno that killed a tech billionaire was no accident--and he suspects that he and filmmaker Meadow Wrangler were supposed to die, too. When lawmakers identify Dylan as a prime suspect, he and Meadow decide to find the real arsonist themselves.

Dylan and Meadow have nothing in common. He's a proud Apache and a war hero, a self-made man. She's a rich girl with a tabloid past. But there's no denying the heat between them. Is there more to their attraction than physical desire? Will they survive long enough to find out?

Strap on your seatbelts and prepare to be taken on a journey where danger, romance and deadly encounters will have you shocked to the core because once you settle in with Firewolf by Jenna Kernan you will realize this breathless reading expedition won’t stop until you turn the very last page! The story took me out for a breathless, tumultuous ride. I was on the edge of my seat as Dylan Tehauno and Meadow Wrangler fought through a myriad of perilous situations after Dylan becomes the prime suspect in the murder of a tech billionaire. With the law and the enemy out to get them, Dylan and Meadow are forced to work together to prove their innocence by finding the real arsonist (talk about nail-biting suspense!).

Overall, the story was gripping, intense and raw. I felt the deep tension between Dylan and Meadow as they dodged the threats looming in their paths. I rooted for them both because I wanted to see justice served. In the end, the ways in which author Jenna Kernan bends the plot to propel the story forward kept me turning the pages and when all the loose ends were tied up I gave a victorious fist pump.

I gave a 1 star rating to both Turquoise Guardian and Eagle Warrior, the first two books in this mini-series. I don't like when a book can't stand on its own within a larger story-line. Jenna Kernan seems happy to let all the major plots in her books remain unresolved so that you have to read the next one, which is a cheap, lazy trick.

Some of the questions left dangling in the previous books get cleared up here. However, that doesn't make those two books any better! This time around, our hero is Dylan Tehauno, who has a ridiculously complicated cultural background, and this complexity extends to his job title. He's part of about three different crime fighting (I think, of maybe protector) tribes, also has a military background, but is now a fire security expert, or something. Our heroine is Meadow Wrangler, the blue-haired (!) party girl/heiress daughter of a millionaire documentary filmmaker. They're both in the line of fire, literally, when a billionaire's controversial house, which is blotting the ridgeline, explodes.

The owner of the house is billionaire Gerald Rustkin. At first we're told he probably died in the explosion. However, the story then changes to it being lawyer Cheney Williams as the only person at the property waiting for Dylan to arrive, as they were going to go over fire safety issues. Gerald Rustkin is never mentioned again and we never find out what happened to him!

Anyway, the explosion starts a bushfire, and Dylan and Meadow barely escape with their lives. Dylan suspects that the two of them were also meant to die in the resulting fire. They must figure out who was responsible for sending them into the danger zone. And I have to say, I'm not sure that was ever explained fully or properly. Dylan was sent there by his shaman Kenshaw Little Falcon (a really tiresome character I'd be happy to see the back of), because he wanted his contact, Cheney Williams, to reveal the location of eco-terrorist group BEAR's next target.

So why couldn't Kenshaw just ask Cheney himself? Why send Dylan into a fucking forest fire? My head hurts.

Meadow is sent there by her father to film footage, as she live streams everything. She was also filming dams (or something) for another documentary, and apparently that could give away the location of BEAR's next hit, so she had to die. It's suspected that her father, Theron Wrangler, is the head of BEAR. Turns out that his wife Lupe is the real boss, and isn't actually Meadow's mother, and that's why she hates Meadow. (Meadow was the product of an extra-marital affair). Lupe agreed to act as Meadow's birth mother in exchange for Theron pretending to be the real leader.

After a failed sting operation in which Meadow tries to get intel on what her father is up to (and how she learns the truth), she and Dylan are drugged and taken out into the line of fire once again. This is despite being wired, with the FBI listening in. The FBI never respond, even though Dylan uses the code word for rescue before their wires are removed. The sloppiness just never ends in this one, folks!

Did I mention that Dylan and Meadow are the suspects in blowing up the house in the first place? That, too! The authorities who believe this give no motives for believing this. You'd think that would be an important element of proving a crime. But, anyway. Kenshaw is actually a member of WOLF, the more "friendly" eco-terrorist group, and an informant for the FBI. On top of WOLF and BEAR, another group called PAN gets thrown into the mix.

Anyway, it turns out that the massacre at the mine in Turquoise Guardian was a cover up for the theft of the explosives that were used to blow up the millionaire's house. The gunman who performed the massacre was shot by another assassin (who was the father of Morgan Hooke, the heroine in Eagle Warrior), because BEAR wanted to hide any ties between their group and the massacre. And they picked an assassin who was dying so he couldn't say who hired him either.

This is bizarre on several levels. Morgan Hooke was a target in the previous book because BEAR thought she could identify the shooters. But they chose a dying man! The mystery would die with him! Next, if you want to hide the fact you're stealing explosives from a mine, why the fuck would you stage a massacre at said mine?!? Wouldn't that just draw more attention to the mine?!? Good grief, the books in this mini-series are so STUPID. On top of that, BEAR is the only known eco-terrorist group that actively seeks human casualties, so who the fuck else are the authorities going to suspect when an eco-terrorist act results in human casualties?

By the end of the book, Dylan and Meadow are hiding out on reservation land where they can't be arrested. They're still the prime suspects in the house explosion and Lupe Wrangler is still out there, plotting BEAR's next move to blow up the dam. That's not a resolution to me. Our hero and heroine are essentially trapped, still looking over their shoulders. SO WHAT WAS THE FUCKING POINT OF THIS FUCKING STUPID BOOK?!? Excuse my language. You can tell this one frustrated me. A lot.

So far, Jenna Kernan is not impressing me with her Intrigue contributions. Her books don't resolve anything, and even individually, they have no internal logic. I guess I'll have to wait and see if everything does get explained and resolved in The Warrior's Way, the final book in the mini-series. But it will be a while before I tackle it. After three 1 star Intrigue books in a row, I'm taking a break!

This romantic suspense had an exciting beginning with plenty of action and an interesting relationship development between two opposite personalities but I guessed who bad guys were halfway through and their abilities were unrealistic plus too many irrelevant characters mentioned. Apache firefighter Dylan helps film-maker Meadow when they are caught in an inferno.

Jenna Kernan’s books just keep getting better and better. This is my favorite series of her’s so far! Kernan takes you on a fast-paced journey filled with suspense, non-stop dangerous circumstances, and a cute romance.

I found myself empathizing with both of the characters. I especially loved Dylan’s character. Even though he isn’t against sex before marriage, he doesn’t take casual sex lightly. He believes in waiting for the woman who he will marry and have a future one day with. He is also the kind of guy who follows the rules and doesn’t do anything reckless and crazy. He’s an honorable man and I love that about him. Meadow doesn’t understand any of this at first because she’s the complete opposite. She’s the rich Anglo party girl who is used to getting her way. She’s used to men wanting her only for sex or for her money.

Since we’re on this topic, there is sex in the novel. Luckily it’s only a page or two here and there which can easily be skipped over without it affecting the rest of the story.

This story will keep the pages turning until you’ve reached the very end. Kernan keeps you on your toes. Just as you thought you knew what was going on, there was an unexpected twist and turn.

Overall, the story was gripping, intense, and heart-wrenching. I found myself at times laughing, crying, and cheering the characters on throughout the whole story. I enjoyed where Kernan went with this story.

Highly recommended.

This was a great addition to the Apache Protectors: Tribal Thunder series. While reading this steady paced story that is filled with danger, mystery, some surprises, and, of course, some sex thrown in, you are also learning about the Apache people. This is a well written series and I am looking forward to......yet dreading.....the final book that wraps everything up. As I finish each book by Jenna Kernan I am just a bit happier to have found another favorite author.

Very good book. This book was action packed from the beginning, and the tension rarely let up. Dylan was on the way to do a fire inspection of a billionaire's new house when he ran across Meadow. She was filming the house, something she'd been doing since construction started, as part of a documentary. After a slight altercation he continued on his way, just in time to see the house explode. As a firefighter and Hotshot, he knew he had only moments to get back to Meadow to save her life. The intensity of the fire scene was incredible. I could practically feel the heat and smell the smoke as the author described Dylan's efforts to protect Meadow and himself from the fire. The description of his actions made me feel as if I was there.

As part of the Tribal Thunder unit, Dylan is aware of the attacks by a group of eco-terrorists (Turquoise Guardian and Eagle Warrior). When he first meets Meadow and finds out who she is, he isn't certain if she can be trusted. He also has a feeling that he and Meadow were not supposed to survive the fire, a feeling borne out when they are attacked by supposed rescuers. As he and Meadow are pursued, accused of starting the fire, they are determined to find out the truth of what happened and who was behind it. There are multiple twists and turns as Dylan and Meadow escape several attempts to silence them. There were several times when I really wasn't sure how they were going to get out of trouble and I was on the edge of my seat until they did.

I loved the relationship that grew between Dylan and Meadow. It is definitely one of opposites attracting. Dylan is a pretty straight arrow, a man who follows the rules and doesn't do anything that is reckless. He's seen two of his friends fall in love, and realizes that he wants that kind of happiness for himself. Meadow is the youngest in her family and has been in trouble of some kind for most of her life. Many of her exploits have been chronicled in the tabloids. Different as they are, there are sparks that fly between them from the very beginning. Dylan finds it hard to believe that he is drawn so completely to protect her, and that his heart so quickly wants to make her his. But he's pretty well convinced that she would never want to be with him. Meadow has been searching for her place in the world. I ached for the way she felt so unloved by her family. There are some interesting twists that are revealed as Meadow searches for the truth behind the attacks.

I loved the protectiveness that grew between Meadow and Dylan. Both wanted what was best for the other, and believed that they were not it. There's a sweet scene between Meadow and Dylan's mother at the end that shows Meadow that maybe she's not such a bad person after all. I loved the ending and seeing Meadow want to prove her love, and Dylan's ability to understand why she feels that way.

I loved seeing characters from previous books. Carter and Amber are still in Witness Protection. Ray is working with the hotshots and fills in for Dylan as captain while Dylan is on the run. Jack Bear Den is there every step of the way to try to keep Dylan and Meadow safe. I loved seeing the lengths he went to in order to do so. FBI agent Luke Forrest is also front and center as he works to find the terrorists while still staying within his Apache beliefs.

Firewolf by Jenna Kernan.
This book has it all action, romance and suspense. "Firewolf" is my favorite. It grabs you from the start as we follow Dylan and Meadow's story. They have nothing in common, but after an explosive fire, Dylan's firefighting experience kicks in and all he can do and think of is keeping Meadow safe and protect her. Definitely a page turner. "Firewolf" is the third book in the Apache Protectors: Tribal Thunder series and highly recommend.

Firewolf-Apache Protectors: Tribal Thunder
Jenna Kernan
I received this book from the author for an honest review.
This is the third in a four book series and the third book I have read by Ms. Kernan. It is also my favorite. Dylan is a hotshot (expert in fighting /preventing forest fires) and Meadow is a rich former party girl. An explosion causes a massive fire that threatens their lives. Dylan believes that the fire that surrounded them and killed a tech billionaire was also supposed to kill them. They team up to discover who the arsonist is. This book starts with a bang and doesn’t let you go. I swear I could feel the heat from the fire they were trapped in. Rarely does a book start so extreme and continue the same intensity until the end. But this one does.
Both Dylan and Meadow are very likeable. Manly man meets sassy lady without going too far and causing eye rolls. The story also brings in people from the previous two books and mystery gets closer to an answer.

Firewolf is the third in the Apache Protectors: Tribal Thunder series and is another hit by author Jenna Kernan. She is a relatively new author for me and I am so glad I discovered her books! The story is very fast paced and grabs you from page one, making it a quick, fun read. Firewolf gives us Dylan and Meadow’s story who couldn’t be more different but who are brought together by extreme life and death circumstances. This book has everything I want in a book from suspense, danger, action, and romance. I highly recommend this series but would read them in order. Even though they work as stand-alone books, there are parts of the story that travel through the series. I am so looking forward to the last one in this series but will be very sad to see it end.

Danger abounds as we're drawn into a volatile situation from the start of this story, and taken along on a wild ride of racing to catch the bad guys before they manage to silence them in any way possible! We see many familiar faces from the past stories in this series, and head towards the finish line of getting the answers they've been searching for since the Lilac Mine massacre.

Filmmaker Meadow Wrangler has spent most of her adult life as tabloid fodder. She's rich and spoiled and has been made to feel that she doesn't match up all of her life, so she goes with the flow and makes sure if she's going to go down as gossip, it's going to be exciting! When she meets Apache Dylan Tehauno, sparks fly ... in more ways than one!

Lucky for her, Dylan is an experienced hotshot and able to get them to safety when an inferno breaks out! After fighting for their safety, they learn they are the prime suspects for the blaze! Will the connections he has with his tribe be enough to keep them safe until they can find the proof they need to clear their names?

Another awesome book by Jenna Kernan! This is the third book in the Apache Protectors: Tribal Thunder series. They are stand alone books, but I would recommend reading them in order so you can know the whole storyline. This book has danger, action, suspense, and romance! This book follows Dylan and Meadow on their journey. They are very different and don't have anything in common. But after an explosive fire, Dylan who is a Hotshot, just wants to keep Meadow safe and protected. You will also see some familiar faces from the past stories in this series in this book. This is a great book and I definitely recommend it!

Firewolf starts off with a bang... literally! The story of Dylan Tehauno and Meadow Wrangler explodes on the page at a fiery pace and keeps that pace as page after page of suspense and action follow. I've become quite fond of the whole Tehauno family and I was excited for Dylan to have his story told. Dylan is a hotshot and those skills are put to the test right out of the gate. I don't want to spoil any of the plot twists and turns, just know that I devoured this book, it was so hard to put down. I enjoyed the sparks flying on the mountain and between Dylan and Meadow. Well done, Jenna Kernan! You've written another amazing book and brought these characters to life!

This is another amazing story in a series that is proving to be unforgettable. The characters are complex and engrossing and move each book and the overall arc of the series along at a fast pace. With each clue that is revealed that shows what is going on behind the whole series it pulls the reader in more and more. This is proving to be series that will go on may keeper shelves. While each book can be read as a standalone readers will get a lot more out of the series if they read the books in order. It will also have readers wanting the next book right now. It will be interesting to see just where this series will end up and just what is ultimately happening and how it will end.
