My review for Reunited with the PI by Anna J. Stewart is a 2017 Harlequin Intrigue publication.
The story is multi-layered, with shady politicians, an emotional backstory involving Vince’s brother, and a personal loss that spurred Simone into putting her career over her marriage.
The plot is intelligent and the story is fast paced with plenty of twists and action. The romantic side worked just the way I like it, with plenty of buildup before the fireworks explode.
So, overall, I was very happy with the book from the traditional RS format, the sharp dialogue and the pacing. I think any fan of RS would enjoy this one!!

I had high praise in my previous review for the first book in Anna J. Stewart’s Honor Bound trilogy “More Than a Lawman” and it continues in book two “REUNITED WITH THE P.I. I got immediately sucked into each story and the lives of all the characters. The overall arc that ties all three books together, the suspense plot of each individual book and the main romance in each book flows seamlessly throughout the entire book in this author’s capable hands.
Reunited with the P.I. is a second chance romantic suspense. I feel the trilogy does need to be read in order even with each book focusing on a different H/h and suspense plot because there is a strong overall plot arc between the three heroines and their pasts that is prevalent in each book.
Simone Armstrong is a driven Assistant District Attorney nicknamed “The Avenging Angel” due to the fact that she does not lose and she always wears all white. She is about to go to trial, when she is notified that the witness that her whole case is built on has disappeared. She no longer knows who she can trust in her office. She knows she has to get outside help from a private investigator and the one she wants has major problems with her. She helped put his brother in prison and he is her ex-husband.
Vince Sutton is an ex-Marine, P.I. and now owns and runs his own sports bar and restaurant The Brass Eagle. The last person he expects to come to him with an appeal for help is his ex-wife. After the problems on his last case, he wants to tell her no, but she makes him a deal he can’t refuse. Even with the three year separation, Vince has never gotten over Simone. As he and Simone get drawn further into her present case and he finds out about the threats from a cold case, he vows to protect her, whether she wants it or not.
Simone is as complex a heroine as Eden was in the first book. Simone is driven to put as many bad guys away as possible to make up for her past guilt that she still carries. She does not let anyone in because she is afraid they will be hurt and she does not know how to handle not being in complete control of any situation. Vince comes from an abusive background and also has to deal with what he saw during the war. These two were so realistically written and the author did a great job of bringing them back together at an authentic pace while keeping the suspense growing and the sexual tension high.
I am really looking forward to reading the finale to this trilogy. Ms. Stewart knows how to write romantic suspense that pulls you in and brings you back for more!

Second book in the Honor Bound series. We had the investigative journalist Eden find the Iceman in book one with help from her good friend and cop Cole. This book follows up with Simone, the prosecutor in the DA's office. When Mara, a key witness in her case, goes missing Simone is willing to do what it takes to get her back. Even if it means asking her ex marine, ex PI and ex husband Vince for help. The two may have married and divorced in a hurry, but they have never really got over each other. As the danger builds from different sources and Vince rushes in to protect Simone, they rediscover their attraction to each other and this time they are both different and willing to work on it. Superb follow up book. Can't wait to see them catch Chole's murderer in the last of the book series.

An excellent follow up to the first book, Reunited with the P.I. is a mix of a second chance romance and a romantic suspense/thriller. While not quite as much action goes on to the main characters as in the first book, it's still there and even more so in the background characters. Another story that kept me on my toes as I tried to guess what was really going on, and a shocker when I finally found out. As with the first book in the series, there is the underlying story of the history that the three friends share and their determination to figure it out.
I love how, in addition to the romances in the stories, there is this overwhelming feeling of the strong friendship and bonds the three women share. I find it all too often that romances don't focus on the great friendships women can have instead of the jealousy and hatred some books bring out in their stories. Simone, Eden and Allie are there for each other even when it's difficult and say what needs to be said even if the other friend doesn't want to hear it.
Towards the end of the book, you can tell something is going on with Allie, so I'm eager to read her book in the series and see if they finally figure out the mystery of their shared history.

Simone Armstrong, assistant DA, has always been driven to succeed, no matter the cost; it even provoked her husband, Vince Sutton, to leave her. Simone is about to prosecute the biggest case of her career, when she is notified that her star witness has gone missing. Simone requests one week’s postponement, and asks Vince to help her. Vince, a former P.I., now a pub owner, is reluctant, but he hasn’t lost his touch. However, he has a favour to ask in exchange for his services.
What a fantastic story! Vince and Simone are very independent people, they never really stopped loving each other, but Simone never tried hard enough; she never had time for Vince, he always came second to her career. Ms. Stewart has written an extraordinarily compelling romance that is as riveting as the suspense. Vince is a good man, and even though he is still wildly attracted to Simone, she really hurt him in more ways than one. It’s a very precarious reunion, and Simone must revalue her priorities. She has a hard time of letting people in, especially when she is working a case that becomes more intricate as time goes by. There is also a secondary story arc that runs through the series, where Simone and her two best friends – Allie and Eden – are still looking for the murderer of their childhood friend Chloe. A case from twenty years ago, that is not so cold anymore; Simone has received a “memento”…
Ms. Stewart weaves both suspense stories with the romance masterfully, there is not a dull moment; it is (literally!) a nail-biter of a book and I never stopped reading. I loved the interactions between the characters; Simone, Eden, and Allie sounded like true friends; the dialogues are impeccable, the descriptions are crisp and clear; the writing is flawless. The romance felt entirely believable, and it was a delight to see two characters acting like mature adults when dealing with their relationship, where it was going, if anywhere, which was mostly up to Simone. I cannot wait for the next instalment where the mystery surrounding Chloe’s murder will be resolved! REUNITED WITH THE P.I. is an excellent romantic suspense!

This is a really good story about two people with a shared history who must work together in order to bring a fraudster to justice. What they both hadn't bargained on, however, is the danger their search for a missing key witness erupts. A cat and mouse dance ensues that'll keep you in suspense. The opening of the book instantly hooked me and once I slipped deeper into the story, I connected with Vince Sutton and Simone Armstrong.
The plot had sounded straightforward from the blurb but the lives of the main characters unravel when danger stalks up their alley. In the book, Vince and Simone will do whatever it takes to get the case done and over with. But could they risk something more precious doing it?
By the way, Vince is a strong and determined man, who is also protective of the people he cares about. We see more of his protective nature in the story when he is with Simone. Of course they both have personal issues but each holds their own when it comes to justice being served. Simone, on the other hand is prim, proper and uptight. She knows what she wants and she'll get it her way. The connection she shares with Vince is at times strained but that underlying chemistry lingering there between them as they work side-by-side builds the foundation of their romance. When their case is over, will they be able to forget their past and form a relationship stronger than the one they had before? In the end, Reunited with the P.I. by Anna J. Stewart was an engaging story. The author does a fine job establishing the conflict and keeping it consistent. All in all, a good solid read.

When I started reading this book, there was a subplot that sounded so familiar. When Simone and her childhood friends Eden and Allie were nine, they witnessed a horrific event that would forever change their lives: during a sleepover they were camping in the backyard with their other friend, Chloe. During the night, she left the tent to use the bathroom and was never seen alive again. Her killer was never caught. Chloe’s murder shaped the women they would become: Simone became an attorney known as The Avenging Angel; Eden became an investigative journalist; and Allie a psychologist. It was only after reading for a little while that I realised why I knew the story about Chloe – I read book three (Allie) in this this trilogy last year! In true goober fashion, I’ve gone backwards.
Simone is attempting to bring a man named Paul Denton to justice. He’s an accountant who’s been charged with a slew of naughty things and it’s believed he’s a middle man for a cartel. Simone has a key witness, Mara, who is instrumental in Simone’s case if she’s to win it. Simone has opposition at the DA’s office, men who want her to offer Denton a plea deal, but she refuses.
When Mara suddenly disappears just before the trial starts, Simone doesn’t know who to trust. So she turns to Vince Sutton, a former PI who also happens to be her ex-husband. Their marriage ended because of a lack of communication and Simone’s determination to put her job first. Vince isn’t sure he wants to help, but when Simone makes him an offer he can’t refuse, he’s drawn in.
While Simone and Vince are trying to locate Mara before the trial starts, she’s also dealing with something painful – Chloe’s killer has been reaching out to the trio of friends and taunting them. With Simone being threatened, time running out and her job on the line, she’s going to have to rely on her ex and her friends to stay alive and stay sane.
I really enjoyed this book. I adored Vince, who clearly was still in love with his ex-wife. Simone was an interesting character with lots of layers; sometimes I wanted to hug her, other times just shake her (as did Vince!). If she had just communicated with Vince more their marriage would never have ended. Will they decide to try the whole marriage thing again? You’ll just have to read and find out. But don’t read them backwards, like I did!
And check out that cover – the model for Vince is fierce! I wouldn’t want to meet him in a dark alley….

She takes action by hiring her ex-husband, Vince, who used to be a P.I. but needs a lot of persuasion to take on a case again. They married young and divorced quickly but have never really gotten over each other. Vince doesn't really want to take on the case but Simone convinces him but "sweetening" the pot by using his brother (I wont give that away!). As they work together, a lot of their problems during their marriage get "talked about" - which didn't have DURING their marriage so that's a good thing! About the case though, they find all kinds of things that are very surprising and lead in ways they never suspected! There is a lot of action too because people don't want Simone & Vince to look into this case and want to silence them. Simone's friends are helping her too so it was great to see them again from the first book! I really enjoyed these characters and the conclusion is great!

Excellent book. When Assistant District Attorney Simone Armstrong is in over her head she needs some help only one person can do for her, her ex-husband Vince. But the only thing is her ex refuses. He does however have a condition and when she agrees he holds her too it. There’s chemistry between them. It’s never gone away. Can they work together? Well it should be interesting to say the least, and it is. The more they dig around for answers, and try to find her missing witness the more they find things aren’t what they seem in this case she’s working on.
Vince knows her better then anyone. So when he finds out she’s been keeping something from him he will not let her out of his sights.
Fast paced, edge of your seat, and hot sizzling sparks between these two. They however can’t or won’t allow it to interrupt with the case. The past is the past, but can they move to a future.

After reading, More Than a Lawman, the first book in Anna J. Stewart's Honor Band series, I was eager to read the second book, Reunited With the P. I. The first book introduced 3 main characters: Eden, Simone, and Allie, three friends whose childhood friend was murdered. With the murder now a cold case, Eden, Simone, and Allie chose to live their lives pursuing jobs designed to help victims. After telling Eden's story in book 1, Stewart tells Simone's story in book 2. I liked Simone because she was an imperfect character. I also liked her ex-husband--Vince and the secondary characters. This book was a romantic suspense and I enjoyed following the mystery. As in the first book, I also loved reading the references to Northern CA! Stewart made it very easy to visualize what was going on and peak my curiosity to see what happens in book 3.

Reunited With The P.I. by Anna J. Stewart is a fabulous read. This is my first book by this author, but won't be my last. Ms. Stewart has delivered a well-written book and loaded it with a phenomenal cast of characters. I'd give Ms. Stewart an A+ for her characters, their interaction and dialog. Simone is a lawyer with the D.A.'s office and is forced to enlist the help of Vince, who happens to be her ex-husband. Their story is packed with drama, action, suspense, humor and spice. This story managed to grab me from page one and didn't turn me free until the last page was finished. I totally adore the characters and love this story. Reunited With The P.I. is book 2 in the Honor Bound Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

I was hooked on the Honor Bound series after reading book one, and book two did not disappoint. There is so much to like in this story. The cast is exceptional, and Vince is a welcomed addition. His character is captivating. He grabs your attention immediately. He’s also perfect for Simone. As ex’s, they already have chemistry, but they steam the pages as they reconnect. The author is a master at story telling. The plot is suspenseful as it weaves through a current mystery while leaving breadcrumbs on a previous cold case. A page-turning read I highly recommend. Simone Armstrong, working in the DA's office, is trying to take down a major player in corruption. When her key witness goes missing, Simone needs Vince Sutton -- her ex-husband and ex-top notch private investigator, to find the witness. With Simone and Vince working together, it's easy to see how their love never died, but will it survive working closely together -- especially when Simone isn't willing to sit back and let Vince do the investigating alone.
This is the 2nd in the Honor Bound suspense series by Anna J. Stewart and I can't wait for the 3rd and final book to come out.

This book sucked me in from the start, and I couldn't put it down. There was just the right amount of suspense and intrigue, and I loved every minute of this book. I highly recommend it!

Reunited with the P.I. is full of surprises where situations and people aren't always what they seem. When Simone Armstrong's key witness for her high-profile case goes missing, she isn't sure who she can trust. She convinces her ex-husband, P.I. Vince Sutton, to help her locate the witness, but soon discovers that it is hard to ignore the chemistry that still exists between them. I really love the Honor Bound trilogy and I'm looking forward to the final book to see if they catch Chloe's killer.

Reunited with the P.I. is book two in the Honor Bound series and although there are characters and places are in common, it is a standalone book. The story kept me reading straight thru – and there were times my heart was pounding or I was yelling at the characters to “watch out!” or laughing at the interaction between them. Simone Armstrong is an assistant district attorney who needs the help of her P.I. ex-husband, Vince Sutton, to find a missing key witness to an upcoming trial…except these two have MAJOR baggage in their past that they have to work thru in order to work together, solve their case, and stay alive. Annnnnnnd find their way back to one another. Let me just say, wow. I loved this story. Vince really was the best; I found him to be the right balance of alpha, to keep Simone from going overboard, and softie, that will win your heart. That’s all you’ll get from me – I highly recommend you read it for yourself!

A nice balance of romance and suspense, Reunited With The PI, is a second chance story. Simone asks her PI ex-husband to help her locate a missing witness. Simone was pretty closed off at the beginning of the story and I loved watching her open up to Vince. Vince is a great character. He has a ton of baggage but he loves Simone so much. I loved how they reconnected! This is the second in a series about three friends. I am looking forward reading more from this author!

After reading the first book in this Honor Bound series, I was anxiously awaiting the next installment. I am happy to say that I was not disappointed. This book is Anna J Stewart’s second suspense novel and is a great second entry. While it can be read on a stand-alone basis, the experience is definitely enriched by having read the first story.
Prosecuting attorney Simone needs help. The key witness in her case has disappeared and her boss, the DA has only given her a few days to find her witness, Mara. Unsure if she can trust others in the DA’s office, Simone turns to the one person she trusts to help her, ex-P.I. Vince. Now, I just have to sit back and wait (not so patiently) for the final installment in the trilogy where, hopefully, they will catch Chloe’s killer who has been stalking the three friends. 5 stars.

REUNITED WITH THE PI is my new favorite books by Anna J Stewart. I have been waiting for more storyline for Simone and Vince since they met years ago, married just weeks later and then divorced. We just got a taste of their story. I knew that couldn't be the end for them. You understand they both have mixed feelings and then you throw in the mix that Simone is the assistant district attorney who put his brother in jail. Regardless of their twisted past, they still respect and trust each other. I especially love second chance stories and this one I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

A great follow up in the series! We met Simone in her friend Eden's story that kicked off the series. She's a whirlwind of a prosecutor and doesn't let up when she's on to something. It was sweet seeing her re-connect with her ex and watch the sparks fly!
Vince Sutton might have been wrapped around his ex-wife, Simone's finger once upon a time, but he has no inclination to step back into the investigative world to help her out now. He is perfectly happy to pretend she no longer exists from the sidelines ... until she throws down the gauntlet and makes him an offer she knows he can't refuse!

Wow. That's my first thought after reading REUNITED WITH THE P.I. This is part of the Honor Bound series and follows MORE THAN A LAWMAN. However you do not have to read MORE THAN A LAWMAN to follow Reunited with the P.I. I will say that I think there are things within this story that will draw you to read the first book and to continue reading this series, there's more going on than just a romance! Fans of Harlequin's Romantic Suspense line know these are great suspenseful books, but REUNITED WITH THE P.I. also has a lot of emotional pull. The characters are well written and realistic. The story pulls you in from page one and doesn't let go, even after the last page is turned. I've been thinking about this story for days. I want more honestly. I want to see these characters again. I can't wait for Simone's friend Allie to get her own story. And now I want to read MORE THAN A LAWMAN. There is a mystery written within REUNITED WITH THE P.I. that will leave you on the edge of your seat. This series, Honor Bound, does have a connected story-line that unites the characters and stories. One that will have you eager to read all the stories and ready for the next story to arrive. Highly recommend Anna J. Stewart's REUNITED WITH THE P.I. to anyone seeking a great romance with a suspenseful story and characters that leave you feeling as if you know them. This was one of those perfect reads that had it all and left you wanting more. Now if only Ms. Stewart would write faster so I can get my hands on the next story I'd be good. A perfect Keeper Shelf story!

I was given the opportunity to read this for an honest review. This book was another suspenseful couldn't put down story. The characters come alive and made me feel like I was watching a movie not reading a book. Imagine having to go back and ask for help from your ex husband you never stopped loving and pull him back into a business he gave up. But you need the best so you humble yourself and go to his business . Now picture the ex who grudgingly accepts your request only to find out what trouble really is. The fireworks and twists and turns keep you guessing . I can't wait for the next book
