Alyssa Satin Capucilli was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1957. She graduated from Sarah Lawrence College, and pursued her interest in dance, becoming a professional dancer and dance instructor. Though Capucilli had written stories, poems, and even puppet shows as a child, she didn't consider a career as a writer until after her own two children were born. To this day she sees herself as both a dancer and a writer, and the two professions complement each other nicely: dancing is, in her words, “telling stories in another way,” and readers of her children's books can attest to the rhythm of her language. Since 1994, she has written more than 15 books for children, and her work has been translated into French, Hebrew, Afrikaans, Greek, and Bulgarian.

Capucilli lives in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York, with her husband and children. They have a chocolate Labrador retriever named Huckleberry, who likes to watch the author at work.

Blanket of Love could be paired with blanket for a perfect baby shower gift! I especially like the reference of blankets throughout, ranging from a blanket of sun in a blanket of sky to a blanket of sand by a blanket of sea... The rhyming text is right one. The illustrations of various families in various settings add to the warmth of sentiment.

One of the books in the New Books for Newborns series, this book uses gentle rhymes and a soft rhythm to introduce all sorts of blankets to little listeners. There are blankets of grass, snow, sand, water, stars and much more as different families explore being outside together. The book ends at bedtime, indoors and cozy under a physical blanket. Gentle and loving, this is a lovely book.

A beautifully sweet book.

However, the illustrator chose to feature predominantly same-sex couples. Sadly, in the name of tolerance and all-inclusivity, the traditional family unit has been edged out in many baby/toddler/kids' books these days.

Book about different kinds of blankets (blankets of snow, actual blankets, etc) but the best part is the pictures have so many details you could find something new all the time you read the book
