The geologic history of the earth and stories from the evolutions of geophysical discoveries through time and how they have contributed to our ever-evolving knowledge of earth processes, but simple enough that I dream of reading this to my future child as a bedtime story. I wish I could upload photo reactions bc the last sentence “In the end its remains, and with them our own, will spread throughout the galaxy whence they came, dust to dust” made my lip quiver and eyes water. ALL THAT OVER A BOOK ABOUT EARTH SCIENCE? Yes.

Great overview of the subject for the uninitiated. Great writing makes the material very accessible.

The book tried to explain the tectonic theory for general public. The author wrote the history of the theory since the beginning of the idea to the recent development. The object wasn't an easy object to explain in everyday words. But the author had succeed her 'report' on the development of plate tectonic theory in such detail yet comprehensible. It would be more interesting if she added some figures.

Absolutely fascinating. While I was reading it I was thinking, "I can't believe I'm reading this."

The stories are much richer than in this book, but no one else has attempted to take on the history of the modern earth sciences across the many divisions.
