Chattanooga Supernaturals #4

Careful What You Ask For

Rate this book
When a wolf mates with a human, the child is nearly always a wolf. Briana was raised as a werewolf, but puberty hit and she never changed. She’s persuaded a few wolves to bite her, but it never took. At nineteen, she’s going to give it a final try. This time, she’ll ask someone who was bitten instead of being born to it, to see if it makes a difference.

She grew up welcome in the Pack until she was branded a human. Her developing teenage psyche was wounded by their rejection, and she holds nothing but ill will for the Pack and all it stands for. However, it’s fine for a human to glare at the Alpha and tell him he isn’t the boss of her. Trying it as a wolf is another story. She’s determined to make a go of it as a lone wolf, but Randall — the local Alpha — has other ideas, despite the fact she’s property of his brother’s motorcycle club.

Briana was raised to be a werewolf and she finally feels whole, but the transition is different for everyone. She understands supernatural politics, but she’s going to have to maneuver through the highest levels of them as a brand new wolf still struggling for control.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Candace Blevins writes urban fantasy, paranormal romance, epic fantasy contemporary BDSM romance, and two kick-ass motorcycle club series. She’s published more than fifty books. Candace lives with her husband of twenty-four years and their two teenaged daughters. The family’s beloved, goofy, retired racing greyhounds are usually at her side as she writes, quietly keeping her company. Or sometimes not so quietly.

Her urban fantasy series, Only Human, gives us a world where weredragons, werewolves, werelions, three different species of vampires, and a variety of other mythological beings exist.

Candace's various paranormal romance series are all sister series to the Only Human series, and give some secondary characters their happily ever after.

Her Dark(ish) Faerie Tale series gives us a close-up and personal look at Queen Mab, and her Dark Underbelly series is, as you’d expect, dark and (if you’re a little twisted) oh-so-yummy.

Her contemporary Safeword series gives us characters who happen to have some extreme kinks. Relationships can be difficult enough without throwing power exchange into the mix, and her books show characters who care enough about each other to fight to make the relationship work. Each couple in the Safeword series gives the reader a different take on the lifestyle.

Buy this book now! I've read this book about 8 times since I received it for beta review. Ms. Blevins writes another phenomena erotica with character development, world building and a great plot. This is as close as she gets to vanilla sex! Do not fret kinky readers, there is enough rough sex to keep you humming.

This story focuses on Briana who I thought was a throwaway character in a couple of other books. She is young (19) and desperately wants to be able to shift into her wolf. Her parents are wolves. Her brothers shift into wolves. She is the only stuck in human form even after trying to force the change through a shifter biting her. This is her last chance. She is trying to get a bitten shifter to bite her instead of a born one. Maybe this will be the one which makes her two forms finally come together.

Why is this so important? Ms. Blevins does an amazing job of showing the hurts of a young girl. Actually, any young child who is loved and part of a greater family only to be shut out when she isn't one of them. So far this is a no win situation because Randall, the pack alpha, does not want non-shifters to pine away where they can never achieve what other shifters can do. Forcing them to be in the human world is slowly bleeding them out. I get Briana's feelings of rejection. The subtle ways she is treated as an outsider or lesser class hurts her at a core level. Ms. Blevins shows how something as simple as which door she is allowed to enter into, because of her shifting status, can damage the relationship between her and the pack. This book really delves into the werewolf protocols and its world more. I liked it because we were able to see both sides. We are able to see Briana and how she's been treated. In the same breath, we can see what Randall needs to do to keep his pack safe and strong. Because another pack who doesn't follow the rules, provides an excellent contrast in lack of health and instability.

Whilst the main character is Briana, Randall's part is by no means small. He is only featured a few times and each one is key. This story out of all of them in this series makes me like Randall more. We get to see the human side of him and how he tries so hard to be fair. He needs to enforce rules even when he doesn't like them because of the greater good. On one hand we have the individual's needs and thoughts from Briana. On the other hand, we have the collective well being which Randall is responsible for keeping safe. When they clash, it seems the conflict may be too much to overcome. This is where Ms. Blevins excels her her plot. She creates an out that works for everyone. Everyone gets a little of what they want and need. Past hurts and slights are on their way to heal.

What I really loved about this story is the healing of Briana. She is a young girl who has it all together. She made it on her own and even though she knows she has a few hang ups, she works through them. She is sexually exuberant and she accepts the consequences of her actions. I love her. She is one of my favourite characters now. Honestly, Ms. Blevins writes characters I love, even when I hate them a bit in other stories. The ability to show both sides, maybe even more than two sides to a person is her strong suit. These characters are multilayered who are relate-able. This series is filled with people who could be you or me. They aren't rich. They aren't perfect. And they aren't complete losers either. They are normal people (as normal as changing shapes can be) who want a better life. Briana wanted something more and she worked for it. She received a lot more than she asked for... which is amusing.

The sex in this story is FABULOUS! I must confess I am quite jaded when it comes to reading sex scenes. More and more, I skim through them and *yawn*. It isn't to say that most authors suck in their sex scenes. It's just that I've read too many sex scenes and they don't trip my trigger. Ms. Blevins is one of the few who still melt my panties. The men are dominant without yelling, "I'm an alpha dominant! Submit to me!" Instead, they take control and just make me melt into a puddle. I love most of her men even when they are kind of a jerk when they want a blow job. It is a love hate relationship at times for me. Probably because I'm not 100% submissive. The sex scenes in this story are smoking hawt and not to be missed. There is just the right amount. Whilst there is a bit of SM, there is more BD and D/s which I like. The cage had me over the moon. The chain was also pretty hawt. It seems having sex with a shift is a treat because he can be sized to order. *wink*

I highly recommend this paranormal erotic. For those who want a fun time with great characters and a plot, this is the book for you. It can be read as a standalone. Beware, if this is the first book in the series you pick up, you probably will pick up the rest of the series. It is that good.

Kitty's review posted at Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

The Chattanooga Supernaturals get more and more interesting as this series continues. And, as Ms. Blevins continues to combine all the characters from Rolling Thunder to Only Human, together, I can’t help but continuously wait for the next one to come out. But, Careful What You Ask For was a complete surprise to me … Patrick was not what I was expecting and Briana totally amazed me. This was a one sitting book for me because I couldn’t wait to see just where Patrick was going to lead Briana and how the other characters were going to accept it.

Briana finally got what she asked for … and then some. She’s a shifter. Now, she has to come to terms with how she will be accepted, with how Randall will take her desire to be a lone wolf, with how to handle her parents. Patrick is turning out to be her saving grace, her mentor and her master. One incident leads to another and Briana ends up a new wolf with more power than she thinks she is ready for. Patrick will be there for her no matter what she decides … to oath to him or stay a lone wolf. When part of the decision is practically taken away from her, Patrick is by her side and still not pushing for her to totally commit to him or his pack.

Patrick is not only an Alpha Wolf but he’s a Dominant. His women are his slaves. They sleep in a cage, they are always naked, they do what they are told. Why does he feel so differently about Briana? Why does he feel the need to share his life, his bed, with her? But, yet, need her submission? He knew, the first time he saw her, that he would make her his. It’s up to him to guide her through controlling her wolf and into his world. If she wants that. He knows that she has been with many men but has no knowledge if she’s ever been in his world. He can’t wait to introduce her to his way of love. He is looking forward to seeing where they are going. He’s not expecting the Briana that stands up for him, his pack, herself and does so with finesse and style. He’s in love with her and it’s up to him to stand beside her and help her navigate her way through Pack politics, MC politics and her parents.

I love that Candace brought everyone together. Brianna (aka Britches) started off in the Rolling Thunder series and is ending up in the Chattanooga series. She has such a fantastic was of crossing over her series and it is always seamless. She also brings us into the BDSM world, lets us feel and understand just what her characters are going through … the dominant making decisions and the submissive accepting those decisions. I loved that she didn’t make Briana a total slave and gave her the choice of accepting or declining the lifestyle … both BDSM and Pack. She made Patrick strong enough to stand up to Briana’s wolf but gentle enough to love her the way he should. He was the total package … dominant, loving, caring, considerate and Briana, in the end, knew just what her life would be like as she accepted her place alongside Patrick.

**Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for honest review.**

This female character needs serious therapy. I mean years and years of therapy.

I'm not sure that I've ever cringed so much when reading a novel. And I've read and enjoyed several BDSM themed books. Most, though, use the pain/pleasure and dominance in the bedroom, further strengthening a couple's bond outside of the bedroom. They inflict pain and pleasure then walk out feeling closer and more empowered.

This story, however, wasn't like that. The male lead was dominating of the female in every single facet of her life. She had no freedom to make any choices and couldn't even use the bathroom or wear clothes without permission. Couldn't feed herself, either. This all was OUTSIDE of the bedroom antics. Her entire life was in someone else's control. She was essentially a man's slave, even though the man pretended that he disliked slavery (hypocritical, I know).

The female lead could have uttered a safe word and left the situation but she had spent so much time being used and abused by (several) men that she didn't have a single ounce of self-respect and actually wanted to endure the pain in order to please this guy. I mean, come on. This is supposed to be sexy? No, thanks. I want my couples to have at least a small amount of respect for one another. Spank and torture/tease each other all you want but allow a woman to feed herself for heaven's sake.

When the couple finally has a normal bout of love making in which an actual emotional connection could be made, the author just flies over it and doesn't bother elaborating on those scarce moments, even after explicitly detailing all of the other, more risque, scenes. The moment to redeem the relationship was swept away... Such a pity.

There is no love story, here. It's just a story of a woman's willpower being worn down enough to where she gives herself over to a man and becomes his slave. Period. I never saw her develop caring feelings for him and even admits to him that she is only submitting to him because it's inevitable. Ugh. Just... no.

It's a shame, really, because I was intrigued by several of the secondary characters and might have been interested in reading about them. Unfortunately, I'm now afraid to try because I'm not sure I can take another relationship of this dynamic.

In closing...
If dark reads with no real happy ending are your thing, jump at this one! If you want your couple to develop even a remote emotional connection, this might not be the book for you. One very sad and lonely sun...

Spoiler Ahead This was book 3 in"The Chattanooga Supernaturals"Briana/Britches who we met in book 7 of "RTMC"was raised as a werewolf, but puberty hit and she never changed. She's persuaded a few wolves to bite her, but it never took. At nineteen, she's going to give it a final try. This time, she'll ask someone who was bitten instead of being born to it, to see if it makes a difference. When Maggie bites her it works she has found her wolf. When Briana realizes that Maggie is being made to do things that she didn't want to by the local pack Alpha she calls to the MC and they come. Briana has some issues with Randall the Alpha of the pack that she was born into because she was kicked out of it when she didn't turn. When Randall shows up at Maggie's farmhouse he brings with him Patrick who is also a wolf he also works for Aaron and is thinking of joining the pack. This was a really good book. Patrick is also a Dom and he wants to make Briana his pet. When the local Alpha starts trouble Patrick challenge's him and when hr sends people to attack before the fight Briana kills one of the men she eats part of him she is in trouble he choice is to join the pack or die. Patrick is heavy into BDSM and the scenes that he and Briana had were hot. This book had a lot of side characters from the other books in it. I also loved how the guys from Drake security had Patrick's back and helped Briana. These two became the Alpha pair as Patrick won the challenge. This was really good book. This book was well written like all of Candace's books with no errors in grammar or spelling. If you like reading paranormal BDSM than I recommend that you read this book it is part of a series but it can be read as a standalone.

Careful What You Ask For, at least for me, was one comfort zone demolishing read, but since it’s part of the Chattanooga Supernaturals series, that wasn’t a surprise. This in no way means I didn’t enjoy the book, it just means I had to close my eyes while reading a couple of times, or just plain skim over some spots. Ms. Blevins writes BDSM, and this series is more into the S/M side. The Rolling Thunder MC is my favorite series of hers, but I’m a fan of them all. What makes it good for me is the fact she writes characters that draw me in with interesting plots that keep me coming back for more despite the fact that some series are more into the harder core kinkery.

Candace’s heroines are the strong willed, kick ass type that I adore and Briana was no different. I loved that she loves sex and made no apologies for belonging to the Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Club. In her mind, she got all the sex she wanted in a safe way. When her final attempt to become the werewolf she was raised to be is successful, she finds herself in the midst of one hell of a minefield of supernatural politics. She has no intention of joining the local pack, the one she was raised in and felt had rejected her once they decided she was human. She wants to be a lone wolf, getting her need for companionship taken care of by the MC. The local pack leader has other intentions, and when events happen that open the door for her to have to join, he was on it.

Whether you love them or want to shoot them, Ms. Blevins writes some amazing male characters. With all the craziness going on in this book we got to see several of our favorite characters shine. Briana was not looking for a leading man, but she got one and had no idea what to do with him. Between being turned, ending up in the middle of a pack dispute, and navigating not only pack politics but supernatural politics with potentially deadly consequences if she stepped the wrong way, she got way more than the wolf she so desperately wanted.

Definitely not an insta-love book, there was an insta-attraction with the couple wanting to explore things in a slow, careful manner. Unfortunately, things beyond their control force them to make decisions at a lightening fast pace. While things progress, Briana gets introduced to BDSM and loved it, no matter how much a pain in the ass (and other places) it could be at times. Again, I don’t mind BDSM books, but I’m more comfortable with the B/D than the S/M, and I found myself scrunching up my nose and saying “hmm” and “ouch” more than once. There were also times these two had a certain chemistry going on that gave me a decidedly better reaction so that made up for things.

The grit, action, rich characters, and the romance made reading Careful What You Ask For worth any comfort zone blowing issues I had. I’m looking forward to seeing how she expands my horizons in her next book.

While definitely part of the Chattanooga Supernaturals series, this venture encompasses the Kirsten O'Shea Universe, the RTMC series, and even has a wee bit of a Safeword-series vibe to it. And it functions beautifully as it expands the scope of the Supernatural world, its rules and its politics, all via the relationship of a couple of very unexpected characters. It is a touch more BDSM-intense than most books in the series, but its classic Blevins in its match for both who and what the main characters are.

Never on my personal radar as a "book's-worth", Briana and her mate more than hold their own. They grab this story by the Pack hairs and don't let go. Briana-otherwise-known-as-"Britches" gives her all in a last ditch effort to find her latent wolf, and in a mature-beyond-her-years fashion that more than fits, she rises to a myriad challenges. Her mate seems to come out of nowhere to help bear some of Randall's burdens and yet, his back story also prepares him as...what? Heir Apparent? He certainly has all the Alpha qualities necessary, and some bonus skills as well...so time will tell. Their coming together may appear to be just another relationship meant to be, but readers might speculate if there isn't also a greater, future purpose that is predestined.

All I know is that every time I get one question answered in this series, there are more complexities introduced. Yet far from being a frustration, this adds layers of hugely addicting mystery and depth. I loved the input from all the major players, and how they mentored these two along, but this was still very much Briana and her mate's coming-of-age.

This was an intense ride, with all sorts of things going on, and a lot of emotions brimming below the surface. Power struggles and politics play heavily into how things roll out, and Briana and Patrick have their hands forced more than once because of these factors

At the root is Briana and Patrick, and their attraction to each other, and the power exchange they experience. Patrick knows exactly what he wants, but then he has to adjust because his exactly changes as his feelings for Briana grow. Briana thought she knew what she wanted, but Patrick pushes her in ways she never thought she'd enjoy, yet she does.

Their relationship is pushed ahead at a fast pace, but both recognize that it was where they would likely end up anyways. They are mature and deliberate in their actions, as much as they are wild and unreserved in their relationship!

You make call this book: guidelines on how to be a good Queen "B" or in this case Alpha "B".

O!M!G! there are sooooo many things that I loved about this book, that this review could be a book by itself :) but to keep it useful and on point, its a book about self-growth, making hard but right choices and kicking ass while your at it. And Candace is the woman to give it all to you !!
This book has all the yummy characters that we LOVE!!! as big Candace fans and, you wouldn't believe it but after more than 18 books about all things supernaturals - 9 of them about wolves in particular, there would be no more news when it comes to wolves. But, believe me, with my memory and re-reading habit, this book still left me with "Really??" and "Hmmm, will you look at that..." moments and that is just one of the things I love about Candace and her story line and her background info in these books.

Here we get to meet Briana who had a hard time becoming a wolf and maturing into one with all the drama kicking the fan big time (and believe me, Candace knows how to make justified drama that is sooooooo good, you wouldn't belive !!!). And we get to meet Patrick who is a badass which is a hard earned title considering all the characters that Candace has in these books (talk about clash of bad and asses LOL) and you will love every page of their story.
There are lot of quotes that I feel in love in this book, most of them will be banned by the online prude-dictators, but let me tell you - you will cry, laugh, be shocked and knocked on your ass more then once (I suggest sitting while reading this!) but this book is worth every sec of your time. Its a novel where the female characters is not weak or a damsel in distress but is strong to begin with and only gets more stronger and grows as a person and as a supernatural. The guy is just the added bonus (and with yuuuum set of skills *insert evil laugh here* !!).

So go and enjoy and have your naughty way with this story, as the Mistress Candace intended you to have (she will kick my butt for this, but I just had to! some of you will understand !).
Now, go and read this !!!!!

The blurb did not prepare me for this book. I expected something different but I liked what I got. The main character, Briana, is definitely a new wolf struggling with control but the story is also a romance. A BDSM romance.

Briana's just 19. She still suffers from the scars of rejection, when Pack Alpha Randall turned her human self away when she did not change into a wolf. She feels like a wolf inside and craves this change. Craves it. Obsessively. She goes to great lengths to find it and she does. After being bitten, and finally changing, she wants to remain a lone wolf but soon has two Alphas desiring an oath from her. Complicated.

Her love interest is one of these Alphas and he is a bit of a sadist. We get to navigate the layers of their relationship with them. It's incredibly interesting and, at times, erotic. Briana needs to learn control and she found a mate who demands control. This impacts her relationship with the Rolling Thunder MC - the club and the bikers became her family when the pack she grew up with rejected her. Her entire life transforms when she meets her mate - spiritually, sexually, emotionally and physically. *No spoilers here. You need to experience it for yourself.

I loved seeing the characters from the other books in the Chattanooga Supernaturals series and from the Rolling Thunder MC series, but there are touches in the book from characters in the author's other series as well. I am impressed with the fact that despite the complexity of the story at times, it's seemless. I read a few paragraphs twice thinking, how the eff did the author come up with that and how does she keep it all straight?

You don't have to read the other books in this series to enjoy this story but it would certainly add another level of emotion and connection to the story if you do. The writing, not in any way ordinary. The story, at times complex, other times simple, but never boring. I read every. single. word.

I LOVED this story. So much.
I was not expecting this to be such a beautiful love story.
Yes there was kink, yes there were supernaturals but mostly it was a beautiful love story of 2 amazing people.
If you have read the rest of the series and the RTMC books - do yourself a favour - read this story.

Briana wanted to be a wolf so badly, she was born into a family of wolves, her mother turned by her father. She could feel her wolf but she wouldn't come out. Pushed out by the pack so she could learn to embrace her humanity, she gave it a last shot.
After seeing something not right, she spoke up and ended up with a male to watch over her and to help he learn control of her wolf - she was doing fantastic but she needed a little more help
With a lot of learning, a lot of boundaries and a lot of learning on Briana's behalf - love blossomed.

And yes there was KINK and holy heck was it HOT!

He also turned out to be the love of Briana's life.

Make sure you read this story

Amazing I’m wowed. I didn’t have a problem at all giving Careful What You Ask For five stars.
Reading the books before this one only sets the foundation for a continuous awesome stories.
A intermingle of shifters, the fact that we get to see previous characters we fell in love with
Makes it that much more fun.

This has to be my favorite book in the series. (smiles). Patrick whew O.M.G. he is pretty much a dream wrapped in a dual package of human and wolf. I really loved his thought process and how he explained things ahead of time. His patience to me was unending. I think he earned the place he is in by intelligence, know how, care and power.

Brianna took me a minute to warm up to, it wasn’t because of her past (nope you have to remember on your own)but something was just off to me for her, but almost through the book it just dinged. Her strength and her fight to be herself and maintain her own life was blue ribbon worthy.

I really really love the Amakosi, I think the Abbott is all about dreamy, Randall hmmm he needs a female in his life to shake him up a bit.

A amazing read, I loved everything about it. I recommend it and I’m more than sure you will enjoy.

First I have to say, "WARNING!!! HOT-HOT-HOT!" BDSM with Supernaturals-my e-reader melted to my fingertips. Ms. Blevins talent shines her character development and descriptive storyline make each of this series a stand alone novel, only made richer as we layer each book together as we read. In this story we get a clear view into the the werewolf pack politics, as a young woman (Bianca) has grown up in the pack as a daughter of a werewolf/human, whom everyone assumes will turn into werewolf with puberty. As the time came and Bianca didn't turn, she is turned away from the Pack. This story follows Bianca's final attempt to become the werewolf she knows she is. I highly recommend this book-take a trip to Chattanooga, visit the Supernaturals. Ms. Blevins knows how to entertain!

I LOVE this cover! When reading a book by Candace Blevins I go into it with an Your Kink Is Not My Kink But Your Kink Is Ok mentality. I love how she allows me an insight into how folks feel and what about the activity does it for them. In Careful What You Ask For the author skirted a few of my hot buttons and introduced me to some I didn’t know I had. Even with that in mind the story was intriguing and the characters believable. I enjoyed watching Briana grow and become one with her wolf. Patrick was an interesting character and he too grew into his new role. I liked that as big and bad as he is he wasn’t adverse to asking for assistance. This book can be read standalone but is better if you have the background of the previous books.

I luuvv the Chattanooga Supernaturals. All of them. Patrick and Briana (Britches) are totally hot together and I really enjoyed getting more on the non-RTMC werewolf community. Cameos by Abbott and Drake are always a big plus. The BDSM in a little intense for me or this would be a regular re-read of the 5-star category. Patrick's definitely more in the Bash mold than the Duke mold, but it works for Briana, so it works for me.

I can't wait for the next one in the series.

Briana was raised to be a wolf. Her dad was a wolf and her mom a human. She should have changed when she came of age, but to her disappointment, her wolf didn't come. She was turned away from the pack and forced to live on her own as human. She became property of the Rolling Thunder MC while she tries desperately to make her wolf come forward. After many attempts she finally succeeds. Now Randall, her pack alpha wants her back. She has severe abandonment issues and just can't trust him, especially once she meets her mate.
I loved Briana. She was determined to  get what she wanted no matter how long she had to try and the lengths she had to go to. She would find a way to bring her wolf out. She was amazingly strong and had excellent self control for a new wolf. Briana handled her situation well and was able to do so much more than a newly changing wolf could. I understand her feelings of being turned away no matter what the explanation to her was. How can you be raised one way all your life just to have to live completely different overnight?
Patrick was a sadist, used to keeping his women in cages and not having free roam in his house. When he offers to take Briana to his place to help her acclimate, he may have plans for her as well. He knows he wants her and the attraction is mutual. He may be a lone wolf but he plans on being pack, and that may be a deal breaker for Briana.
Wow...I was not prepared for all the goodness in this book! I was obviously expecting paranormal and shifters. I wasn't expecting the BDSM (shifter style) and the MC thrown in. I loved the plot and the story was well developed. This was my first book by Blevins and can definitely be read as a stand alone. It was an excellent introduction for me into her work. I enjoyed the different aspects of this story and following Briana through her journey. She had a lot of obstacles to overcome and decisions to make but she had a good head on her shoulders. The chemistry between the pair was intense and electric. It made for a interesting read and I highly recommend this one!

I somewhere along the way lost track of this series. This was a nice opportunity to catch up with all the characters from not only this series, but also the RTMC group as well. It took a little while for me to connect with Briana, but at some point her character just clicked for me. She was tough, but still somewhat broken from past hurts. At first Patrick seemed a bit distant too, but I loved how he slowly opened up to Briana and his pack.

I really liked the focus on the different pack dynamics. Although Randall has been in several other books this was the first time I've really gotten a feel for how the packs work. Of course this leaves me crossing my fingers that Randall someday gets his own book...after Bud of course... I'm still waiting on that one.

This is the first Candace Blevins book that I have read in a while. It took me a scene or two to readjust to the level of structure and intensity that makes up her D/s scenes. Once Patrick and Briana really connected it just all came together and the intensity was perfect for the two of them.

I am really looking forward to reading more from this series as well as the author's other series.

I received a copy of this book from the author.

I voluntarily reviewed a review copy of this book.

Briana has been raised wolf only her wolf has never appeared. That leaves her bitter toward her home pack as well as her parents. But she gives it one last shot to bring her wolf out and when she finally succeeds, she isn't as ready as she thought for the changers in her life. The first major change is Patrick. She meets Patrick when she calls the MC in for help with a situation she is ill equipped to handle, being a new wolf. I enjoyed seeing Briana come into her own. She may be young but Ms. Blevins makes you forget her youth for the most part. There are moments when her inexperience is glaringly obvious but the are few. I loved seeing Briana navigate her growing feelings for Patrick. He didn't know her when she was "just" human so with him she gets a clean slate, even if he wants more than she thinks she is ready to give. I loved that Patrick gives her what time he can. He isn't looking for who Briana has become to him but he is willing to roll with the changes. I thought this story by Ms. Blevins is well articulated. This was my first story in this series and I was able to keep up. I loved Briana, Patrick and friends and look forward to not only starting from the beginning but also seeing where Ms. Blevins will take us next in this world.

Patrick & Briana

Briana hasn't found her wolf, she never changed when puberty came. And the pack shunned her. This hurt her very much & though she tried to find her wolf, she was bitten a few times, she knew she wanted to be a lone wolf. Meeting Patrick changed those feelings some. He was to become Alpha of the Ringgold Pack. So what did that mean for them? Plus Patrick played hard! He wanted a "pet" not just a submissive. Could Briana step into that role? Did she want to? Did she want to be Pack? They had hard decisions & only a short time to choose.

Enjoy!! Time to learn about Ghost!

For the most part, I liked Patrick and Briana's story. Some parts not too much as he gives her a safe world then says stuff like I know you don't want to use it just, try to get through it for me. He says he wants her strong but treats her like a slave, chains her to the bed at night then spanks her regardless every morning and almost every night. I laughed out loud when Bree told her dad he shouldn't have to try to control her mom too much so she would be strong because that is the same thing Patrick is doing to her. But in the end, she is the one who is the fool and won't safeword and lets him degrade her. I don't think I will ever understand that. How someone lets people mistreat and degrade them. This Author apparently is into this lifestyle as almost all her books are like this.

Briana as a child born to one wolf shifter and one human parent, she had expected to shift into a wolf at puberty. When it didn’t happen for her, life got complicated. Briana finally becoming a wolf and navigating what is expected of her and learning that the world does not completely revolve around her and her hurt feelings. I did like her perseverance and determination and willingness to work for what she wanted.

Be prepared for intense BDSM action (because wolf shifters can heal just about anything with a single shift) that might exceed human limits. I recommend this book.

Careful

I have the book a five star rating. The book is about Briana and Patrick not Briana and Randall like the blurb implied.

The relationship between Patrick and Brianna was incredible. They didn't jump straight into a relationship, instead wanted to take the time to develop what they were experiencing, not an instalove story. There was a beautiful mix between all the authors series; Safeword, RTMC and Supernatural series. It was hard for me to put the book down and I enjoyed every minute of the story.

This is a very satisfactory book (aren’t they all!) particularly because it blends a lot of the characters and culture from the RTMC series into this one (which is technically part of the Immortals series), while adding in a bit of S&M to spice things up! The story itself follows a woman through the process of achieving werewolf status, with a lot of “back story” on the details of that process, which I admit I would like to have had before! I’m not complaining about the other books; it is more like finally receiving answers to questions you never realized that you had! I guess I’ll just have to re-read the others (oh woe…or not!) to find out what I missed the first time.
We have seen Briana in Gonzo’s book, but she is not a significant part of the story, and if Patrick is mentioned in other books it is as an employee of Aaron’s, not as a major character, so getting to know them was a pleasure. If I had to come up with a criticism of the RTMC books it would be that I think some of the guys act like jerks (IMHO) which I understand is kind of the norm for the MC genre, but which Patrick most distinctly is not. I think I would call him a “gentleman sadist!”
This book absolutely could be read as a stand-alone, but you will miss some of its richness. Of all the books I could recommend that you read before this it would be the (as of October 2016) two-book series Only Human and An Unhuman Journey. You will meet, and get a good sense of, almost all of the immortals of significance who appear in this book. Of course, to be thorough, I could recommend that you read all of Candace’s Motorcycle Club (RTMC) books and the other Immortals books (“The Dragon King,” “Riding the Storm,” “Acceptable Risk” and a couple of novellas), but that would take a while. If you read this one, you will probably go back and get the other ones anyway!

"Careful what you Ask For" by Candace Blevins. This book was an odd pairing of almost every genre of writing. Shifters, check. Motorcycle club, check. Major alphas, check. BDSM, triple check. I think the only thing it was missing was historical romance, but oddly I think it worked. It was like watching a major accident without injuries, you really want to see what happens but your not proud of yourself for watching. It was also so very different then almost every other shifter story or series I have read. Briana is a recently turned wolf shifter who's trying to get control of her wolf. She was supposed to be only 19, but I found her to much more maturer than that. Patrick is a newly re-located lone wolf, who is looking to become alpha of a struggling pack. While first protecting and then assisting Briana gain control of her wolf, they fall in love and begin to rule the new pack together. There was a lot going on in this story and a lot of players. This is the third in this series, but I hadn't read any of the earlier books or the MC series, so some of the inter-relationships may have made more sense if I had. I'd also say that if your sensitive to BDSM you may want to reconsider this story, because although much of the sex was hot it got kinda cringe worthy at times. I rate this story 4 hearts. This story left me feeling like there was more to come and more that I was missing from other stories, but I'm not sure if I'll go searching for the others.

Careful What You Ask For is the perfect name for this novel. Hot, steamy, sexually explicit, BDSM goodness wrapped up in a paranormal package as you would expect from Candace Blevins.

The premise is that Briana, part human, part wolf is bitten by a werewolf to become fully wolf. She has done this before. It didn't take then, but it does this time. What I imagined when reading the blurb and what transpired didn't really coincide for me. I expected a different type of story. Now fans of Candace's don't get riled. The writing is exactly what I imagined. Characters were well developed, though the comments about Brianna being nineteen over and over were tiresome, because reference kept being made to how she acted so much older. Doesn't matter. She was over eighteen. Everything was legal. In every state. I thought it took away from the story rather than add to it, but these are my thoughts and others can disagree.

Sex scenes are hot. Although I have to say some things made my eyebrows raise and my nose go up. I'm not gonna lie, I did a hmm or two before I was done reading.

This is an incredible world Ms. Blevins has created. Careful What You Ask For was the first book I had read from the series. Obviously I walked in during the middle of a family argument so to speak. Although I never felt like the odd-man out, there were not clear details of past relationship statuses between the main characters. I always felt as if I were playing catch-up, or I was missing something. For this reason and the others listed above, I give it 3.5 stars.

Briana ‘Britches’ grew up feeling rejection from her pack because at the time her wolf should have turned, it didn’t, and thereby branded a human. The MC took her in and watched over her But still something was missing so she resorts to having a wolf bite her to see if she could get her wolf to finally make her feel whole.

She tries several times but no bite helps her turn, until her last resort does work. In doing so though, she meets a very strong male wolf who stays with her to help her out, as a newly turned wolf can be very uncontrollable. Throughout the rest of the rest these two become very close and try to make a relationship work, but pack politics are pretty much law and we get to see a lot of the inner workings within a pack and its leader.

Briana and her love interest have an intense love affair, filled with kinkiness but can it lead to love? I really enjoyed reading Briana’s story, and certainly enjoyed reading about her love interest. Totally loved have characters from the other series show up, it’s like old friends come visiting. Pick up this book and get immersed in a complex story that will have you turning page after page as you can’t wait to find out what happens next…

We first met Briana in the Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Club series. I can’t say I much liked the Briana we met at the club, but I love Blevins’ books and couldn’t wait to get my hands on this one. Briana is quite a bit different than what I expected. Blevins gives the reader plenty of explanation as to why Briana isn’t just a slut, as we all suspected from our earlier peeks at her. I’m not sure I totally believe Briana’s character, though. She was way too grown-up for the tender age of 19. Yes, I realize she’s been through a lot. I still didn’t buy her level of maturity.

Briana’s love interest, Patrick, was an interesting guy. Completely and totally hot. But also way into the BDSM scene. He’s somewhat of a sadist as well. Most of the sex scenes were hot, but they are also on the edge of what I enjoy BDSM-wise. If you’re not heavy into BDSM, you may want to skip this one.

Aside from the love story, watching Briana and Patrick deal with pack politics was interesting. I enjoyed this part of the story the most. Watching Briana grapple with accepting past hurts and how Patrick struggles to protect her and not undermine his power position kept me flipping impatiently through the story.

If you love shifter romances and haven’t read Blevins yet, what are you waiting for?

I am not an avid reader of paranormal romance, I only dabble in it occasionally. However, I am an avid Candace Blevins fan and try to read everything she writes.
I loved this story as it combines paranormal, erotica and BDSM.

After being rejected by the pack when she does not turn wolf when she comes of age, Briana is bitter. She sets out to choose her own destiny by finding someone who can help her turn and if successful she is determined to become a lone wolf.

Patrick is Alpha, Dominant and a sadist. He's a protector, mentor and a leader. He meets Briana when he is assigned to protect her and mentor her through her first full moon run. Intrigued by her young wolf and her natural submissive nature, he sets out to train her in submission and her supernatural self. Their journey to becoming an Alpha couple was thoroughly enjoying.

I loved the wonderfully vivid creatures and scenarios created out of Ms Blevins' imagination. The duality of the human/wolf personalities and how they were separate yet integrated was fascinating. The story was intriguing, compelling and extremely satisfying reading.

“Careful What You Ask For” is the tale of Brianna (Britches) and her “need” to become wolf. The background is laid out quickly in the first chapters, so won’t provide any spoilers here. It’s a great story and typical of the stories I’ve read by Candace Blevins.

Likes: Brianna is an incredibly strong character. At only 19, she has her act together in ways that would make most 20-somethings jealous. Brianna’s inner thoughts as she works through what it is to be wolf, human, hybrid was a great way to show the strength and maturity of someone who was willingly bitten. Patrick is a great addition to the RTMC family and like Brianna, he has a depth of maturity that I really enjoyed. Together, they are an amazing power couple.

Once again, this is another great story. The usual warnings with Blevins stories is that they’re often BDSM heavy and this is no exception. So if that squicks you, then move on. Otherwise, be prepared to be scintillated until your toes curl.
