Rate this book
The first book of the Fierce Saga features Riley Harper, a troubled and tired floater agent with the FBI, on assignment in Seattle to assist the local Police Department in finding a serial killer. When her partner, Officer Peter Drake, goes missing, Riley believes the case is much bigger than a simple killing spree. After officials declare her partner to be dead, Agent Harper embarks on a mission to find Officer Drake, despite being ordered to stand down. When she stumbles upon clues that hint at a massive shadow organization working behind the scenes, Riley teams up with a deadly female assassin and a complicated mental patient to further her own investigation. Scorned by the Bureau, Agent Harper goes rogue to find out more about this secret group known only to a few as THE M.O.R.S. INITIATIVE. This edition features a black and white preview of the graphic novel adaption.

Every year I read Watchmen because it is my favorite book. It's worth the re-read. Last year, I came across this author at NYCC. He sold me on the concept of this book and I missed the opportunity to read it then. Fast forward to two months later, he is a guest on my podcast. I read this book out of necessity for preparation for his episode. Wow this book is phenomenal. I was not expecting what I got. This book is a fun thrill ride with action, emotion, depth and humor. I can not recommend this book enough. It's right up there for Watchmen for me. Joins the yearly reread club. This was the best book I picked up last year. Again, own this book, it's worth every penny.

I saw this guy had a booth at NYCC and so I checked out some other reviews on his works. This title had a fair deal of indie talk so I checked it out. YAY! I was not disappointed. I like the female characters, as they are oddly strong for a male author to have written them. I dig this book a lot and might have to check out the graphic novel adaption, but first I bought the sequel. After the author asked for reviews from his fans, I started an account on here to do my part. go read this book.

This book is super fun. I can tell the author has an open mind about things. While there isn't an LGBTQ character in it, I don't necessarily judge the book on the lack of that either. There are scenes which nod to that, and I can tell some of the elements are analogies. I hope the author can move forward with some of these things, but I appreciate the spot he started in. Outside of that, I enjoyed the story concept and thought it was a little short. Looking forward to book 2 in the series.

I was lucky enough to check out a local book convention this past weekend and came across an indie author named Josh Howell. He was selling this book, along with the graphic novel version. He was asking reasonable prices and had a combo deal, so I bought both. I LOVE THIS BOOK! I enjoyed the comic, but this brings more depth to the story and has some things that the comic didn't cover. It is written to work as a standalone, but there is potential for a sequel. I WANT A SEQUEL! Can this be made into a movie as well please? I don't review books really, but he asked that if I liked it, go review it. So here I am. Good read for sure.

Joshua Howell’s newest book, The Fierce are Fading (also a graphic novel), was a breath of fresh air for me. It was a different type of science fiction that I didn’t even know I had been longing for. Today’s pop culture science fiction is all about aliens and the apocalypse but Howell has successfully strayed from the norm.

This book has very little filler and gets straight to the point in the first chapter. The story isn’t predictable in the slightest and predictability is one of the biggest qualms I have with pop culture science fiction. Howell managed to keep me guessing at every turn. (Hint guess all you like, but you won’t guess what happens!)

His character development is spot on. Each character is unique with their
own back story. The flash backs illuminate characters’ decisions and behavior.

If you like descriptive horror scenes, sexy assassins, unfathomable monsters, conspiracy theories, cults, and unlimited action, this is a book for you.

I bought this book, as well as the graphic novel version, from the author's small press booth at New York Comic Con. He was one of the few booths that offered a full length novel as well as the full length graphic novel. I loved the comic, but the novel gives SO MUCH MORE! He called it his "director's cut," and I completely agree. It has a ton of added content, a different ending, and it develops the characters so well. There are a lot of things going on in this book, but it is a very balanced read in my opinion. I didn't get lost or confused at any point, and was hooked from the first page. Also, I love the chapter titles! Great read. Can't wait for his next book.

This novel is a ton of fun. As an old school fan of X-Files, Twin Peaks and Twilight Zone, I was 100% on board with the premise of this book. It reads like a noir crime thriller where at first you don't really know how all these things are going to link up, but then they do spectacularly. The book does not have a slow spot, or a boring spot in the middle. It starts crazy and continues in a sprint to the end. I would highly recommend this to anyone. I randomly met the author at a local small town comic convention and bought this and the graphic novel. This is a really cool book, through and through.

Ok. So I enjoyed the comic, but the novel brings so much more to the table. You get some more insight on all of the characters, including the villain. You get an alternate, and better ending than the comic, and you get the chance to breathe and embrace the world that Howell has built. I'm excited about what could come if this becomes a series, however, it works as a single read as well. I don't know if a sequel has been announced, but I'm glad to have found this book!

I have a preference for longer stories, but this made to be a good book to read on the train. I was bit confused by a couple of the story issues, but it was an entertaining scifi read.

I was a little cautious about reading this because I'm not the biggest sci-fi fan, but I do like mysteries and thrillers. I really liked this and would recommend it to anyone.
