Even though Mokey and Red are two completely different Fraggles, they're best friends. When Mokey has to embark on a dangerous journey to Brushplant Cave for a new Brushplant, Red offers to protect her. Of course, Mokey remains safe, while Red becomes a victim of all the traps and scary creatures they meet on the way.
Fraggle Rock was by far my favorite television show as a young child. So when I got the opportunity to purchase a collection of these children's books, well I jumped at it.
This will be my first of many for the year, but for me, Red was always my favorite Fraggle. I especially loved her friendship with Mokey, so naturally, I had to start with this one. One of the many things I loved about this book was how it teaches young children that it's okay to be different. Mokey and Red have many differences and various different hobbies, but when they need each other most, they are always there. It shows us that it's okay to embrace those differences and support one another. It's a great message, and a fun story at that.
I can't wait to read the others in the collection. So must nostalgia awaits! I might just have to pull out my DVD's and give the series another watch.
*This is part of my ridiculous attempt to reach my GR reading goal by the end of the year.
Picked this up at half price books because it is about friendship, looked so cute, and was in great condition. And wow this was the sweetest story that honestly brought tears to my eyes. Mokey and Red forever.
I loved watching Fraggle Rock when I was a kid and found this op shopping with some others in the series. A great fun read. Mokey has to travel to one of the caves which is supposed to be a scary journey so Red offers to travel with her to keep her brave... friendship.
This book shows that everyone is different and that you don't have to be best friends with a person you is exactly like you, you can be best friends with someone who is exactly the opposite to you because sometimes they might be very helpful in certain situations. I also really liked the illustrations of the book.
I think this book is good for students, because it talks about best friends. Red helped Mokey through the adventure that he wanted to go on. This book just talks about how friends are suppose to be there for another. I just like the concept of the whole best friends, because bullying has been a big issue in the US.
For an early reader picture book this is fine. The pictures are delightful. However, when viewed through a lens without nostalgia, this is little more than a glorified commercial for the television show and has less narrative through-line than the opening credits.
