Vivienne Petrovna has an ordinary genius life at the Ultara Academy, but then something about her begins to change. A presence of a beautiful, yet mysterious girl comes into her school and insists on having her after she discovers one of life's biggest shocks. Going through a strange evolution called Awakening, Vivienne thinks it's the least of her trouble until she's found out about her family secret and starts to realize the whole world is not what it seems. There are other predatory creatures living among humans- and worse, they want to destroy her.
I got into writing novels by a dare. I've always loved reading about strong female characters in books, but it's hard to find LGBT characters, so I decided to take it upon myself to become a wordsmith. My works may not be the most professional or grammatically correct, but I'm not an English major, I just want to share a story. I like to think of myself as a writer version of a mad scientist. I don't stick to one genre as I might or might not have a monkey in my mind. So far, my books are supernatural, science-fiction, fantasy, chicklit, and a bit of dystopian, steampunk, and historical fiction.
This book had an interesting storyline. I liked the whole awakening thing and being able to walk in daylight and everything... and geniuses or not, for such young girls they sure are physically capable of kicking arse.
I could tell that a lot of effort went into the translation to English for the book, so a big thumbs up for that, and a thank you to the author for giving me a chance to read her book.

This story is about Vivienne, who goes to an institute for geniuses, the Ultara Academy, which is also an all-girls boarding school, although she's an 'exception' and doesn't sleep on campus as her best friends and pretty much everyone else. There are many aspects about her past she doesn't know about, especially concerning her late father, but soon after the arrival of her two new and kind of strange classmates, she discovers she's not as ordinary or human as she thought, and so that becomes her mission, to find out more about herself and why there are vampires wanting to kill her.
I have to say (and I feel kind of bad criticizing this, since my English is not so great), this really needed editing. There were quite a few grammatical errors, missing words, and odd phrasings (some examples: ), however I still enjoyed the book.
Even though I think it had its flaws, I found the story very entertaining, with enough action, funny moments, some steamy scenes, vampires, and even a succubus!, and I really liked the characters, including her two best friends, two fun characters who are also gay (as most of the girls at that school, by the way!), and her love interest, even if at first I found their relationship kind of weird (it didn't have a great start, in my opinion. I wasn't a fan of her obsessive behavior towards Vivienne), but eventually I liked them together and their chemistry.
So even with the few issues I had, I consider this an entertaining urban fantasy.
In my opinion, this book has a potential to be a bestseller in YA genre. It's one of those hidden gems you come across randomly and end up loving it to death and wish you could have read it sooner. I love this book. It has all sorts of surprise elements that are good and well executed. I'm a science nerd, and the characters in this book made the nerd in my jump in excitement or collapse in laughter. There are so many epic moments that stay with me long after I finished it. This story is a joy to all readers. It doesn't focus only just romance, but friendship and bravery. As an LGBT reader, this book is a must read.
She likes to create bizarre stories with unexpected plots and thinks of herself as a writer version of a mad scientist. She enjoys creating a non-judgmental world where people’s suppressed sexuality and fantasies can roam freely. If she isn't writing her stories, she's daydreaming about her stories.
Five girls who exceed the level of genius go to a highly competitive school with like minded geniuses. Only two of them are half vampire and half human. Guess which side is the strongest? A tale of mastering their strengths and abilities against others who want to kill them. So starts the tale that should end in H.E.A. ! Enjoy!
This is what makes me want to attend an all-girl school! The school in this story feels like a paradise for lesbians. I had a great time reading this story. It's funny and packed with actions and suspense, but not once the story confused me. It might not perfect in grammar and language use, but I did feel like I was watching a movie. The characters really brought this story alive with their dynamic personalities. I love the side characters almost as much as the main characters.
The build-up for each scene is amazing, esp the last part. Because it's a lesbian story written by the same author, I expected the sex scenes, but this one doesn't show much sex, which sometimes ruins the book if there's too much of that. She put just enough in there to where it strengthens the love. And the friendship is probably the main goal since each character was an important element in the plots. The writer created their spirit so well. I can say that this story made my imagination go wild.
THIS WAS LIKE THE BEST BOOK IVE EVER READ IM CRYING MY LIFE MAKES NO SENSE ANYMORE WITHOUT THIS. How will I ever find a book like this again? I can't express enough how much I love this story. It is genuinely fantastic, and I am so happy to have read it. This was a lovely story about what one can endure and how one can find happiness in the end.
This is a sweet story of three genius girls in an all-girl school. I love the mix of science and supernatural in this book. The author clearly knows a lot about the knowledge of the world. Not to mention, it's so hilarious. The three best friends are just lovely. Their badassary made me swoon! I wish there were more books like this. My favorite character aside from the main character Vivienne is Alyssa. She's just too adorable! I had such a great time laughing while reading this book. It's so underratted.
I had a great time reading this book. It should be a movie! I love each character. They are just lovable, funny and overall kick-ass amazing. Even it's a lesbian story, it has just enough interesting elements of surprise and romance to where it strengthens the whole story. That author did a great job creating each character, their spirit and talents and their friendship. I will say this book is a fun, heart-racing action packed read. I could see it like a 3D movie, it's like you're there. I enjoyed the humor, it's light and silly yet also very enlightening. The writer did a good job in piecing everything all in one book. So this is a really good book I will say I'm honored to read a book by such an amazing young LGBT writer.
I love the book!!! With some editing it would have moved to the top of my to read list. Once I started it I didn't want to put it down.t
I chose this rating because it was in such bad need of an editor. Most of it I scanned and let my imagination fill in because it just didn't make since with the misuse of words.
Made this story hard to follow. I liked the premise, but the English translation was horrible. The author needs either a better translation program or a great editor.
