Heather Shepherd really loves her bestie, Amy Givens. Amy is intelligent, a great employee, snarky in a fun way, a great friend.....and a murder suspect. Heather's doughnut shop is undergoing a renovation and expansion, so the crew is doing deliveries and online orders only. Amy dutifully goes on a delivery run. Two extra thick chocolate milkshakes for Junior Buckle. Junior is a bit on the hefty side. Not just from doughnuts and milkshakes....but also because of his lifestyle. He's a video gamer. Well, he was a video gamer. After drinking his milkshake that morning, Junior Buckle is dead. Game Over. After passing her licensing exam to be an official private investigator, Heather comes in on the case as a consultant for the local police department, working alongside her husband, Ryan, a detective on the force. Who poisoned Junior Buckle? Heather knows it wasn't Amy and she is determined to prove it!

Caramel Glazed Murder is the 19th book in the Donut Hole Mystery series. The book are light, cozy mysteries of novella length. This series is great for a quick, cozy fix. The plots are usually simple and the story moves along at a quick pace. The doughnut shop theme is cute and enjoyable. Each book features a different type of doughnut on the front cover.

Pros: This series is entertaining and fun to read. Because they are short, the books are a quick, simple mystery fix. The characters are quirky and interesting. And doughnuts! mmmmmmmm :)

Cons: Lots of typos and other mistakes in this self-published series. For the most part, the errors are minor but it does pull me out of the story when I come across wrong words, misspelled words and mistakes. This is not a series to read for complex plots. At times, the story lines can seem a bit too simple, but it would be hard to wrap up a mystery in a hundred pages if it was more complex.

In the end, I read this series because I like the characters and the stories are great palate cleansers in between more complex novels. Sometimes I want to read a story just for entertainment, to relax and just enjoy reading. This series is perfect for that! I do end up craving a doughnut most of the time, but that's ok.

Caramel Glazed Murder is an enjoyable read. Heather finally gets her first real case as a consultant for the police department. No investigating behind her detective husband's back this time. She did do a couple things during her investigation that, in reality, might have hurt the police department's case. But, this is a cozy series.....I suspend reality for the most part and just go for it. I'm reading a couple thrillers right now, and needed a break. As usual, Heather and the gang are a perfect choice when I need a mystery that is just entertaining and not "heavy.'' Amy's snarky comments during interviews or Lilly and Dave the Dog's antics never fail to make me smile.

There are 60 books in the Donut Hole series, and 20+ more in the spin-off Oceanside series. I'm trying to catch up! :) Lots of reading to do!

Ugh I though Davidson was gone for good...but he's back in this book and I hate it. This was a little irritated that he's back with his pompous attitude. I really just want him out of my series, unless he's going to add anything to it.

Heather works very hard solving this case to prove to the force that Ryan didn't just bring her in because she's his wife and that she actually can solve the murder. The character has developed a lot since the beginning of the series, and she is now given more leeway to investigate which helps the story greatly. I find myself wishing that these books were closer to the length of the Hannah Swensen mystery novels so that Gillard can expand the story more.

The story structure has started to get a lot better in the progression of the series. I enjoy this book.

I enjoy these books because they are clean and quick reading with short chapters. I thought I missed this book but when I looked in my kindle it showed 100% finished. I thought I'd have to read it out of order. I like that my reader keeps track of my location in my books.

With her newly minted PI license in her purse, Heather's skills are put to the test when another murder takes the life of another townsperson. This case is personal for Heather because her bestie, Amy, is a suspect since she interacted with the victim shortly before their demise. Anxious to clear Amy's name, she uses her unique investigative style to ferret out clues and pinpoint other suspects. Construction at Donut Delights is ongoing but online and special orders are still being filled by the crew. I did the love the cliffhanger at the end and can't wait until the next book comes out! I know I've said this before but I suggest you don't read this while hungry because you'll end up drooling over the donut descriptions!

It’s a good thing that Heather Shepherd, owner of Donut Delights in Hillside, Texas finally got her private investigator’s diploma because another murder has happened in Heather’s town. Now she’s a consultant for the Hillside Police Department and can officially help her husband, Detective Ryan Shepherd, help solve the newest murder.

This case is personal to Heather because her best friend and fellow donut baker at Donut Delights, Amy Givens, is a suspect.

(Charlie) Junior Buckle has been poisoned by a malted milkshake he ordered from Donut Delights and Amy delivered the creamy treat to Junior. The man died a terrible death by drinking the milkshake that was laced with antifreeze. Heather knows that antifreeze is not one of the ingredients to her shakes and she also knows that Amy is not a murderess walking around with antifreeze in her pocket so Heather has every intention of figuring out who killed Junior and why.

Any number of people could have murdered Junior including his girlfriend, Francesca, who was living with him but was now packing her bags with the intention of moving out; Junior’s father who, Heather discovered had plenty of antifreeze and lied to her about not seeing his son; or maybe it was the mystery man who Francesca was seeing and was having an affair with or so rumors implied. The only thing Heather knows for sure is that Amy did not kill Junior.

Investigating this murder is not going to be easy. The renovations of Donut Delights is finally coming to an end and Heather has to prepare for the new opening and she has a huge order for caramel glazed donuts that she has to get out to a gaming convention. A convention that Junior was also going to attend. Is the convention the reason for Junior’s murder? Heather has quite a lot to think about.

Caramel Glazed Murder: A Donut Hole Cozy Mystery by Susan Gillard is the 19th installment in this donut hole mystery series and like the previous 18 is a fun read.

Once again readers reunite will all the usual residents of Hillside and get a glimpse of what’s going on in their lives as Heather investigates the murder. The book is a fast read with a nice plot and great characters.

Take a couple hours out of your day and settle in with another good donut murder mystery.

I wait with baited breath for book number 20 after reading this AMAZING instalment of The Donut Hole Mystery series!!! Once again Susan Gillard had me from the very beginning. Heather now holds her P.I. license and has been called upon by her husband to consult for the police. One of her customers that Amy has delivered too has been found dead, poisoned. Determined to show the police she is qualified to do more than bake the donuts, Heather must clear her best friend of the murder.

Drama, mayhem, a "Scooby Doo" running Geoff and the rest of Heather's gang must find a murderer as well as bake hundreds of donuts for her customers. What else can possibly go wrong?

Throw in foster drama for Lily and that mysterious white SUV that's been following Heather and you have one fast paced murder investigation.

What I like about these books is that the author is smart about her sleuth. Heather doesn't take hair-brained chances to find the killer. She always carries her taser and calls the police before she gets herself into trouble. She has a supportive cast of friends that are also strong and intelligent.
They get to do more than make the donuts.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

Caramel Glazed Murder is the 19th installment in Susan Gillard’s Donut Hole Cozy Mystery series. It’s a quick, easy, and fun read with no gratuitous sex, violence, or foul language. The books in this series are good whodunits and express friendship and compassion, but could use better editing and proofing. Heather is now officially a licensed PI and Ryan has hired her as a consultant for the Hillside PD. The case involves the murder of Junior Buckle. The cause of death was poisoning by antifreeze in a chocolate milkshake and Amy becomes a suspect because she delivered the milkshake to him the morning of his death. Heather is devastated when she learns Lilly’s foster parents are thinking of moving away from Hillside.

Yet another murder has occurred in Hillside, and once again it's personal for donut shop owner Heather Shepard. A customer died after drinking an antifreeze laced shake which was delivered by Heather's lead assistant and BFF Amy. Now Amy's a person of interest in the murder. Using her newly obtained PI license and even newer position as a consultant for the police department and her detective husband Ryan, Heather is determined to clear Amy's name. Can Heather and Ryan bring another killer to justice?

Each of the books in the Donut Hole series offers a mystery with enough twists and turns to keep the reader interested. The books are relatively short and easy to read. This 19th offering is no different.

I received an ARC in return for an honest review.

Another Wonderful Addition to the Series

Heather gets to try out her PI license as she officially investigates the murder of a reclusive gamer. But of course that's not all that's going on in Heathers life. The donut shop is being enlarged and is closed for business but still filling online orders. After finally passing her PI license, a chance to work as a consultant to the police falls into her lap. Unfortunately the deceased is a regular customer who dies from a poisoned milkshake delivered by her bestie, Amy. Add to the mix the continued construction on the donut shop, Ryan’s old nemesis is still in town and Lilly’s foster parents are thinking of moving away. Life for Heather is pretty unpredictable right now.
Another quick and easy read in this series.

This is the 19th in the series and I am still loving these books. Once again Heather finds a body when Heather and her best bud Amy go to welcome the owner of a new business opening down the block.
To say the have a strangle bunch of murder suspects would be an understatement. This the first time she is working with hubby Ryan as a consultant to the police. Between them they finally figure out who did it but the why is amazing. I think you'll enjoy this one.

This may very well be the best book yet in this series! Heather uses her PI license for the first time, consulting with the police on a case. She's LEGAL! Her best friend, Amy, is a suspect in a murder and Lilly comes crying for help from Heather. I can't wait to find out what happens next in their lives!
