Dante Mangino was a man committed to one thing: his job. A top security specialist, he had no ties to anyone, just the way he wanted. Falling for a client was strictly taboo. But his latest assignment was about to remind him that even a man like Dante had a weakness. And her name was Sara Vance. Mayor of her hometown, Sara needed protection against a stalker. But having the man who'd loved her and left her prowling around on guard simply wouldn't do. Dante was too intense. Too...tempting.And that would make her stalker very, very angry....

The Guardian brings to an end The Last Chance Heroes series, the people who work for the Benning Agency and we finally get Dante's story(who lost one of the women he was involved with in one of the cases).

Dante goes to help his cousin, when the mayor of the town has some underthings go missing. The mayor is Sara, who Dante was involved with in their teenage years but they were different, she was rich and he was not, things ended and they both moved on, Sara got married and has been grieving for her husband for the past four years.

Both have baggage but Sara is ready to move on while Dante is not. They start something up while Dante moves in to protect her. The whole mystery angle with the underwear was a bit hilarious but I enjoyed the book, it was a quick read.

I like reading suspense books. Good ones that holds my attention and not give things away. This book was alright.

Sara is the mayor and Dante is a top security specialist, who was called in to protect Sara. She is being stalked. These two haven't seen each other in 18 years. Back then, they had the hots for one another. Sara was the rich girl and Dante was the bad boy. Water was put on their fire. They lives separted lives and reunited. Sara automatically recognized Dante, when he arrived at her house, but he didn't recognize her or at least she thought that.

Sara wanted a life with Dante: Marriage and children. Dante didn't want that. He was scared of something his his past. He was the type of man that liked being with someone without being attached to them. Dante's a tortured hero.

I didn't like the fact that Dante had tatoos. I don't care for tatoos. I also didn't like that Sara and Dante stayed in the bed too much.

The story was okay. The ending seem rushed to me, especially since 5 years passed, within the last few pages.

This book is not a keeper for me.

Okay okay...if you know what genre this book is in then you must be appauled that i've read it...........just give me a chance to explain myself.......

I was at a book sale one day, grazing over their hardy supply of books. I immediately noticed that one round table was entitled a certain subject that normally would be for older women to enjoy and so i made a mental note to stay clear of that particular table.

While aimlessly scanning titles, my mind began confussing itself. I must have accidently wandered over to that forbidden area and not even noticed! I quickly must've realized what had happened! I was on my way to darting across to another table, a safe zone, when my eyes planted on a title that caught my interest. It was The Guardian. (i am working on a novel myself with which i have momentarily entitled it the same. so of course the title struck me interested!)

Without even thinking of what i had just agreed to, i bought it. The summary presented itself with a promising plot. I knew, and had to brace myself for, the scenes that i would come across. I knew i was at a mature age (almost turned adult age) and i also had the confidence in myself to handle such scenes for they weren't too new to me. But still, i acknowledged the fact that this novel was to be seen as a true romance novel. Therefore, i had to prepare myself.

Anyways, the novel started off real slow, but once the attractive man entered the picture...the story excelled into quite a well thought plot that i did not expect from a novel of this subject! I had it well planted in my head that all romance novels consists of the similar plot: hunk meets girl, fall in love, and many intimate and romantic scenes. I was mistaken! Apparenlty romance novels can possess such terrific and intricate plots!

I do confess that although it did have its scenes to which you would exactly expect from a novel of this kind, i found everything else enjoyable, appropriate, and exciting! There was much suspense! A really surprisingly good novel!
