Some days I like thrillers, books where there is pretty constant action and the plot often takes second place.
More often I prefer books with a leisurely pace, character development, and a convoluted plot.
“Where Nobody Dies”, second in the 'Cass Jameson' series, definitely falls into the second category.
A woman has been murdered, right in the middle of the bitter custody case of her daughter. The prime, and only, suspect is her ex-husband who had threatened to kill her.
Things get complicated when Cass discovers that the dead woman was a prolific blackmailer with a vicious streak.
Around the halfway mark it seemed that everything was winding down but that turned out to be a red herring.
Both the custody case and the killing are given plenty of coverage, as is Cass's personal life.
If you are not in any great hurry it is well worth reading.
3 Stars.
