It was all Lorna Doone's fault! The stupid cat had slipped out the front door, and when Sunny Delancey followed, she found herself locked out of the house, clutching a furious feline-and all-too-scantily clad. Worse yet, when she knocked on her neighbor's door for help, flashbulbs started popping!
Jock Prentiss was furious! Sunny was obviously an aspiring actress who'd set him up to get some free publicity. How could she not know he was a famous actor when they were living right next door? Now they were splashed across the front page, and she was still lying about what she was up to. Little did he know how unbelievable the truth would turn out to be!

Funny genre romance from 1991. A Canadian Mountie goes undercover in London because she speaks Arabic and Hebrew, investigating the shipment of chemicals to Iraq to make weapons.
Jet lagged on her first morning, she reads part of the instructions left for her by her the absent friend loaning her a flat and heads out the door for the milk. She gets locked out and ends up knocking on the door of her neighbor, who turns out to be an Australian TV star. Sunny is wearing nothing but a very short t-shirt and is holding a cat and a bottle of milk when the press starts taking photos and panic ensues.
The best part of this book is Sunny's relationship with the cats. She's never had cats before. Also included in her friend's instructions: "They will sometimes respond to their names, but will always - if awake - come running if you yell 'Mousers!' in a very excited tone. This means you're going to feed them a treat." "Sunny eyed the cat in her lap with mammoth disfavor. 'Catch me yelling 'Mousers' in a very excited tone," she warned it. "I doubt it. You come when you're called or you don't eat." Needless to say, Sunny is required to yell "Mousers" in a very excited tone more than once in the book.
I liked the unusual plot - two fish out of water in London find each other, and she's a Mountie investigating Middle Eastern terrorism, and Jock and Sunny make a charming pair. Alexandra Sellers must have a great sense of humor and it comes through in her romance novels. An excellent genre romance.
