Cathy Williams, born in Trinidad and Tobago, is a British author who has written romance novels for Mills & Boon since 1990. She lives in Chiswick, London, with her three daughters and continues to craft engaging, heartfelt love stories.
Mattie is in a dead end relationship, dead end job, and trying to pull herself out of it all by taking a Marketing course. She meets Dominic while she was working and he pursued her until she goes out with him.
Mattie was an great heroine. She stood up to Dominic and called him on his crap. She was amaze balls!
Dominic wanted so badly to be the alpha-dog, and he was, but Mattie made him realize that his version of alpha needed to change is he wanted her in his life.
I enjoyed this book much more than I expected. It was fun, amusing, and sweet. Cathy Williams rocked this one!
It was an enjoyable read. I liked both the hero and the heroine. But I think the title wasn't really appropriate. I mean, it wasn't actually a secret because the heroine told the hero immediately after she learned her pregnancy. And I respected her for that.
I loved the hero. Yes, he's bossy, domineering, possessive and sometimes a little bit arrogant but he's also sweet and funny and thoughtful and not to mention gorgeous!
This was a nice surprise, deviating from the usual HP formula. A sweet, sweet read. Mattie, short for Matilda, is a heroine who initially seems to be playing a cat and mouse game with the hero, Dominic. She is in a live-in relationship with her boyfriend (who is her childhood love), Frankie, and yet seems to have the hots for our hero (who, by the way, is pursuing her relentlessly). No wonder with her conflicting emotions, she's all defensive! And the hero being jealous, well that's something you don't get to read everyday. A book in a long line of HP's where a relationship is built, like, truly built. I loved how Dominic went after Mattie with single-minded pursuit, never giving up till she succumbed. They also go for a few impromptu dates, and that was certainly surprising. Although I admit, reading about her attachment to her ex was a bit tiring.
I just need to say that this book wasn't titled very well. The child wasn't even born yet and there was no secret as she told him that she was pregnant. It was a fair and decent novel though. Frankie was a twat.
This was a very good book, typical unexpected pregnancy but the characters were very well written. The h was a very beautiful, feisty, sweet and kind. She didn’t let the H push her around. She stood up to him. The H fell in love with the h at first sight but didn’t admit it. He pursues her from the beginning. Great ending.
I liked all but the very last bit. I liked the woman a whole lot and the man was almost entirely not an asshole, so that was refreshing. He is meant to be greek though, so I'm not sure why he'd say "bambino" in relation to them having a kid, you'd think he'd use the greek term but *shrug*
Dominic Drecos spots Mattie Hayes where she works in a night club and decides that he simply has to have her, no matter what it takes. Only Mattie isn't quite that accommodating and is rather prickly. Nevertheless, Dominic does what he must and soon succeeds. But when Mattie finds out what it took she's ready to leave, but a matter of her recently discovered pregnancy may bring her back.
This reminds me of the question, "How do porcupines mate?" and the answer, "Very carefully." Dominic isn't prickly, but he's rather cold and calculating. I honestly didn't like him at all because he sees the challenge before him and decides that he'll do whatever it takes just to have some sex with her. And he practically stalks her, pushes her boundaries, manipulates and maneuvers until she agrees. And after the pregnancy is discovered, despite by this time actually loving her, he goes about the same thing. He would rather manipulate her and push her into something she doesn't want so he can have what he wants. And later while he's trying to tell Mattie that he was just trying to help her so she would have a job and that's not such a crime, he seems to forget the fact that he did what he did so he could have sex with her. He wasn't acting the least bit altruistically. Not a fan of him so much.
Mattie was possibly worse. She's a woman with a huge chip on her shoulder (mostly to cover up her vulnerabilities). She spends the first half of the book yelling at the Dominick. When she's not yelling at him, she's accusing him of dastardly things. And it's this more than anything that causes me to doubt Dominic's claim that he loved her from the start because he had no chance to get to know her...he was simply intrigued by her persistent anger. And she's full of that, let me tell you. She never softened up around him - at all...well, until pregnancy hormones forced her to. So while she isn't yelling and accusing, she's evading him. Supposedly. And bordering on TSTL. What idiot woman with a boyfriend (however unsatsifying the relationship) leaves work with a strange man who has just paid her boss to give her a night off? And accompanies him to a bar, and then to his apartment lobby, and then to his apartment - all the while disdaining the man she's accompanying and swearing she'll never go to bed with him. She pushes him away and claims that she hates him and then follows him back to his apartment! And all this before she told him she was currently living with her boyfriend. Ugh. I couldn't stand her.
I'm not 100% sure why this is titled "The Greek Tycoon's SECRET Child," when the pregnancy/baby/child isn't in the slightest bit secret...heck she tells him hours after she learns of it. This was a borderline throw-my-kindle, but wasn't quite long enough of a story and not enough angst to do it. It wasn't all that bad though - there were moments where I was intrigued and not irritated and those made this a readable and entertaining story.

The h lives with another man when she meets the H.
And although it was months ago that she and the other man had sex and although their relationship wasn’t good, the fact remains that she lived with another man. That’s why it ia 3 stars instead of 5.
And I couldn’t understand why she never wanted to spend the night in the H’s house and she always left his house after the sex. That’s being difficult for the sake of being difficult.
This is one of the best HP I've ever read. It's not overly dramatic like most and their feeling for each other was developed over time, not out of no where like most HP. It's my first read by Cathy Williams, and indeed, I will try more by her in future.
