This was a required textbook for my Earth Science college course.

It covers the following topics:

** Environmental Economics and Environmental Policy
** Environmental Systems: Chemistry, Energy, and Ecosystems
** Evolution, Biodiversity, and Population Ecology
** Species Interactions and Community Ecology
** Human Population
** Soil, Agriculture, and the Future of Food
** Biodiversity and Conservation Biology
** Cities, Forests, and Park: Land Use and Resource Management
** Environmental Health and Toxicology
** Geology, Minerals, and Mining
** Fresh Water, Oceans, and Coasts: Systems, Resources, and Conservation
** Atmospheric Science and Air Pollution
** Global Climate Change
** Nonrenewable Energy Sources, Their Impacts, and Energy Conservation
** Renewable Energy Alternatives
** Waste Management

Despite the subject, the book was indeed educational, informative, and engaging.

This remains to be the only textbook I have ever read cover to cover. I enjoyed it, fascinated by ecology and the environment. Most interesting class I have ever taken.

i read this for my apes class! it was a newer edition (6th edition) and included 24 chapters as opposed to the 18 covered in the 4th edition. it was the best textbook i had to read this year lol. a lot less dry than my apush one for sure. also, really useful if you want to have concrete anecdotes and facts to support any arguments with people who are opposed to sustainability efforts!

Not bad at all for a textbook. Definitely leans toward environmentalism and sustainability. A nice overview of environmental science. Wish they had included more references
