Gems The World fs Greatest Treasures and their Stories By Bernhard Graf This informative and visually stunning volume examines jewels and gemstones throughout history. It presents outstanding works of art from Europe, Egypt, the Middle East, India, China, and the Americas with full- color illustrations and expert commentary outlining the cultural background and individual qualities of the pieces.
This book covers a wide range of subjects, from opals & diamonds, to the Germany imperial crown, lithotherapy (medical treatment using precious stones), the Amber Room, and Faberge eggs, among many other things. Each chapter is either 2 or 4 pages long with good color pictures & good descriptions and history. It's translated from German. As usual, the only thing wrong is it's not long enough or with enough pictures.
