They were just boys, but a thirst for revenge made them men.
Six years before, the able troop of the Fourteenth Cavalry Regiment had been assigned to escort a small tribe of Comanche to a reservation. Instead they went on a brutal rampage, killing almost every man, woman and child in the camp. But one miraculously survived the the massacre. A twelve year old boy called Eagle. Now he was eighteen and revenge burned in his gut like a hot poker. He wouldn't rest until every last member of the regiment died screaming.

Since his first novel was published in 1968 Chet Cunningham has written and had published nearly 300 works of fiction and 15 non fiction books. He is equally adept on horseback, in the techno-thriller arena, or recounting military history. His output includes 125 westerns and 50 men's action/adventure novels.
I continue my adventuring with the Outlaws series by the very prolific Chet Cunningham with the second book Six Guns. The story, as in the first one, is very straightforward and the writing is again of the workmanlike variety, but M. Cunningham is a good storyteller. Reading the book, I felt like someone was retelling me a story that he witnesses instead of me witnessing the story first hand. It's not bad per say, in the sense that it makes everything very easy to follow and simple to read. I think is a classic case of telling instead of showing. The story is fun and interesting with plenty of action and it seems that each book will focus on the background/personal quest of one of the gang members and that left me wanting to know more about all of them. Even do I would have liked a more elaborate style of writing/storytelling, the important thing is that Chet Cunningham created a great set of characters that I want to follow their adventures.
