When I was a child my aunt had a crate spilling over with books, most of them picture books. She kept it in the hall closet and I would pull it out and read for hours. This was one of the books I read and a favorite of mine. Both the art and story are so cozy and autumnal. It’s a perfect fall read. Reading it feels like drinking cocoa on a chilly autumn evening next to a cozy fireplace.
A mother rabbit ( a single mom it seems) and her little rabbit need a snug home for the winter. Everywhere they look, they are turned away! Finally, they make their own home out of a hollow tree stump. Lovely illustrations and a good message about persistence!
Um, just to clarify, this book is actually called Rabbits' Search for a Little HOUSE. Rabbits' Search for a Little Ho would be something quite different. Anyway, this is a tale about rabbits looking for a home for the winter. Nothing spectacular, but a decent bedtime story.
This was one of my favorite books when I was little. I think I mostly read it because I liked the part at the end when they made their own little house.
Talking about discrimination in an age appropriate way is a good thing with little kids, but I don't know that I want to start it with "Rabbits need not apply!" Otherwise kinda cute.
