Olive is a slightly goth, misfit orphan who (surprise) hasn't found her forever home. She's a loner, a social outcast at school, an unpopular weirdo in the group home, but the reader sees bits of childlike vulnerability underneath her tough exterior. It's a very well-done portrait.

As you can guess from the title, things take a turn, and I'm excited to see the continued exploration of the Underworld in Volume Two. Slight spoiler: it turns out that Purgatory has beings that look a lot like fairies!

Bonus: makes for great Halloween reading. I need more people to read this comic so that I can dress as Olive and people will actually understand what I'm going for. :)

This is delightful. I loved this. It's really good. Olive is an immediately endearing character, a goth who's very clever and creative. No one understands her, because she's surrounded by people who are just too normal. When she ends up in Purgatory, she's delighted, because it's weird and wonderful in a way she gets. So seeing her adjust is a lot of fun. The art is really good, too. It's a very cute, bright style, that complements the writing perfectly.

This is great. I definitely recommend it.
