I think I have a bias in favor of this book. I am a twin, and my sister's name is Alice-now we were 13 when this book was published so it is new to me. I suspect since it's such a small unassuming style of book, I have seen and never read other books in this series.
But my twin is babysitting regularly and keeps saying, what books should we be reading... and so she is getting this for Christmas. The premise of the book is that "reading is the special key that takes you where you want to be" and the next page of the Bible book is as big as Alice and into it she goes. So on the following very accurate to the Word of God pages, Alice is tiny and pictured observing the bible event. In this case the birth of Jesus Christ and the wonder, awe, and experience as revealed to us.
As a reading teacher- what a delight to connect this to the joy of reading and even better to a real aspect of life!
I can't believe I've never reviewed this book before now. This is one that I grew up reading every year at Christmas and have always read to my kids, too. It's a sweet, rhyming version of the story of Jesus' birth. I tend to read it as a bedtime story on Christmas Eve as a reminder to the kids that it's about more than Santa Claus.
This is a story I think should be read every Christmas. This is about Alice who takes us to Bibleland and Bethlehem. We learn about Mary, Joseph, and the story of Jesus' birth. A wonderful story written in poem; one that will be remembered.
I love the rhymes of the Alice in Bibleland Story ... love the "idea" that you can actually jump into a book, and the visual images that brings me ... and of course, it's my favorite story of all time, so I love the birth of Jesus as told in these whimsical words.
Knocked off a star because it depicted the Wise Men seeing baby Jesus in a manger. The Bible says in Matthew 2 that the Wise Men went saw Jesus as a child at a house.
Other than that, this another great Bible storybook which concludes with a lesson that kids can apply to their lives.
