A discussion of the tactics and technology of warfare during the Middle Ages, including the tradition of personal combat, the use of armor, castles and siege weapons, and the dominance of the mounted knight.
This book is great for "quick and dirty" research. It's brevity does not scrimp on facts but rather delivers them in a concise manner. I learned as much from vivid illustrations taken from ancient illuminations, paintings and tapestries as I did from the text. Admirable on all points, this book is a gem.
