The Divinities #2

Death's Storm

Rate this book
Technical genius and demi-goddess—a.k.a Divinity—Khloe Bradenton relies on no one for help, and she definitely doesn’t need comfort from anyone but her twin. After her parents were killed by the demons over two years ago, she graciously accepts her role in the war between the demons and witches. But when a creature far more dangerous than the ones responsible for killing her parents claims he is her guardian and steps in with help she never asked for, she is torn between her desire for the dark predator and memories of the painful loss she endured at the hands of her enemies and from those who claimed to love her in the past.

One of the last Death Demons still in existence, Jagger has pledged his life to the Goddess of Witchcraft, Hecate. Charged with guardianship of the Divinities—one particular spitfire, in particular—he was told never to approach them, but simply to aid from a distance. But when Khloe sacrifices herself to save her twin and best friend and thus becomes the demons’ prey, Jagger has no choice but to reveal himself to her. However, he is taken by surprise when the desire to claim her as his own emerges, and his need for her burns hotter than her Fire. But in the midst of the war, their feelings for each other could prove more dangerous than the demons out to destroy them.

I had thoroughly enjoyed the first book in this series and was lucky enough to be able to obtain a copy of this, the second in series, a few days later (today - and yes, I couldn't wait to read it!) The series concerns the Divinities who are a special type of witch, demi-goddesses with unique powers. Their task is to fight evil and the demons currently endangering humanity. In this story on of the Divinity, Khole Bradenton is the highly independent, very powerful twin and a really jump in ask questions later type of person. This attitude has had consequences in the past, some good and others negative. This time, however, she jumps in to save her twin sister from demons and finds out she has her own personal Death Demon guardian, Jagger. He’s been guarding her for a while but this is the first time he’s shown himself - and it is also the time when they both discover they are fated mates! This is definitely something that Khloe rejects, she doesn’t want any male telling her what to do and certainly not a demon, even if they are on the side of Hectate, the Goddess of Witchcraft. As the two fight their attraction and the demons, life sure is going to get interesting again for all concerned!

This is an action packed second in series, a real page turner, with great characters and a plot with plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing what will happen next. I really enjoyed it and can’t wait to read the third story in the series! As I said for the first book in the series, I have no hesitation in highly recommending this to anyone who enjoys magically wonderful romantic battles and adventures.

This is my honest opinion after reading an ARC of this book via NetGalley.

Death’s Storm is book two in The Divinities series by Lia Davis.

The books are best read in order, since their is an over all story plot that continues from each book and we are leading up to a very big battle or something big.

I enjoyed Death's Storm and found my self pulled in by the pacing of the story and Jagger. We get plenty of action that keeps you going and things progress nicely in the plot and character development. I was pleasantly surprised with how many surprises we got and I didn’t see or expected a few of them. It all added up to an entertaining read.

Jagger is an interesting character. I liked him a lot and would love to explore more on ‘Death Demons’ and his brother. The things we learn about Jagger and Khloe, WOW. I loved. As for Jagger he’s a character that is very powerful and everyone fears, so he lives a solitary life sorta ‘in between’ the good and bad guys. Khloe she dives in head first before thinking, goes in half cocked, and it feels like she craves adrenaline. Her behavior is explained and now I can see why she did the things she does.

Their relationship was fun to watch it progress. There's so much sexual tension and lots of fun banter; between them. I also liked that Jagger didn't necessarily try to control the independent Khloe. He respected her space, even though it was aggravating, but he found a way around it by working with her and joining in the mission. I liked Jagger and Khloe as a couple. They suited each other.

We are also treated to previous characters as well as a few new divinities show up and come into play.

All and all I had an delightful time reading Death's Storm. I'm curious to continue the series and see how everything plays out. There's more going on then we see.

Rated: 3.5 Stars

Krystal's Review...
The second book, Death's Storm, in the Divinities series by Lia Davis is phenomenal. I really enjoyed the first book, Forgotten Visions, but I fell in love with this one. Death's Storm is a slam dunk for me. I was completely entranced by the story and the hero and heroine. Khloe is spunky and stubborn and refuses to just let the guys do everything. Jagger is alpha all the way and just as stubborn as Khloe, making for some very yummy tension filled pages! And, OMG, can I just say he is HOT!!!!! Lia Davis does a fabulous job of making Jagger and Khloe's romance leap off the page. I couldn't put the book down.

I would recommend reading Forgotten Visions first. Even though the romance between Khloe and Jagger stands on it's own, there is a LOT of stuff going on in this book that carries over from the first. Also, there are a LOT of characters to keep up with.

There is a large handful of grammatical 'whoopsies' so be prepared for that, but I promise it won't keep you from loving this book. If you like paranormal romance, here's one definitely worth your time! It's a keeper.

I was lucky enough for Lia Davis to give me this book as an ARC! I absolutely loved this book, I think it is my favorite of Lia Davis's books so far! It was a paranormal story filled with action/ suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat but a wonderful steamy romance story as well! Khloe and Jagger's story had me hooked from the begining! There were several times I found myself laughing outloud! Khloe is strong character who dives in everything head first and poor Jagger, he was her protector! I can't wait for the next one!

Title: Death's Storm
Author: Lia Davis

4 unexpected stars

Following the first book in the series, Forgotten Visions, the second book, Death's Storm is no less mesmerizing. After the events that forces, by choice, Khloe, Kalissa's twin sister, to sacrifice her life for that of her sister's, the Divinity is now unsafe from the demons who would want her dead. One demon the last of his kind, has promised to keep his distance from the demi god, that is, of course until her act allows him to reveal himself to Khloe. Only, the last thing Jagger ever expected to feel when he comes face to face with Khloe was the need and the want to claim her as his own - and not only to protect her from demons who would want her dead.

4 breath taking dreams

The relationship between Khloe and Jagger is a fast, deep and whirlwind one that takes your breath away. With all the paranormal aspects, Death's Storm is a fast paced read that will leave you wanting more and only by reading the next installment can more of the Divinities' secrets be revealed. I can't wait to start the third installment by Lia Davis.

Come on Lia Davis, you can’t do this to me! This reviewer is here to say that this series is starting to heat up. This book like the first in the series had this reviewer staying up late just to finish. The romance was hot and the story was on a steady pace.

Death Storm is the story about the other twin Khloe Bradenton. She is one tough witch that only one man was accomplished enough to handle the fire. Khloe after the death of her parents, accepts her role in the war against the Demons. But with that knowledge also come danger. When the Demons start taking young Divinity it was up to Khloe along with their new found ally, who so happens to be Khloe mate, to find them and bring them home.

I was so into this story that I didn’t realize that I was coming to the end of Khloe and Jagger story. I am so hooked into this world that Lia Davis has written that November seems like an entire year away.

Lia Davis's second book in her Divinities series is Death's Storm. The first two books of this wonderful series have been revamped and rereleased. With the addition of several more books Lia is ready to complete the series. I read the first two books several years ago and have now finished reading the newly rereleased editions. I must say I love the changes she has made. The story flows and is extremely well put together. Death's Storm centers around Khloe and Jagger. Jagger is a Death demon. He is also Khloe's guardian appointed by the goddess Hecate. He is supposed to watch over her and keep her safe. He isn't suppose to interact with her. When Khloe is threatened and the only way to help her is to reveal himself to her Jagger does it without hesitation. Once the two of them are together sparks start to fly. Death's Storm has everything you could ask for in a book. It is full of action, witches, fighting, magic, demons, Divine beings, love, evil, good, family, loyalty and betrayal. The plot thickens as the Divinities try to figure out what the evil Khan is planning. As the days pass and each of the Divinities learn more about themselves and their powers, the struggle between good and evil rages stronger. I'm so excited for the next books in the series. The possibilities are endless as to what Lia will have happen next. Which witch is helping Demetrius? What's going on with Zach? Will Simoan finally get what she deserves? Can they protect and save the Dark Divine children? Every great series leaves the reader guessing and debating what's next. The Divinities series is full of anticipation for what's next and leaves the reader wanting more. I received an ARC for my honest review.

Death's Storm

The witch community, ran by the magic Divinities, who are fighting the demons bent on destroying, all they cherish are under attack. The Divinities all have there own special powers and gifts. In book one Khloe's twin had found her magical mate. Khloe is a head strong witch that tends to do what she wants and very impulsive. Even so, she is brilliant with computers and very strong as a witch. Which is a great asset to the Divinities as a whole. Jagger works and was raised by the goddess Hecate. He is a half demon himself and is more like a demi god, so very powerful. When they meet sparks fly. Khloe doesn't want to trust him due to his demon side. Jagger knows she is something special. His domineering ways don't settle to well with Khloe's strong personality but she is having a hard time resisting Jagger's drop dead sexy looks and knows they both are working toward a common goal...stop the demons. The demons, having a couple witches in custody and have found new ways to torture and try to get information out of them. And when they kidnapped some kids that where under the witches protection, all bets are off. Can Jagger and Khloe come together and work as a team to help save the kids and the witches they thought were lost them?

Death's Storm was fast paced and action packed. Lots of action and some suspense. I enjoy the story line of the divinities and there demon enemies. The heat between the 2 main characters is scorching. You feel the tension from there first glance. You know if Khloe gives in just a little, she will be lost to Jagger. Jagger wants to be in charge but he must learn if he wants Khloe he needs to trust she knows what she is doing. If you enjoyed book 1 you will LOVE book 2. Lia amped it up even higher for book 2. You don't have to read book one but you will understand everything better if you do. Adult content so 18 and up.

With Death's Storm what really pulled me into it was 1) I really liked Jagger and 2) the pacing was active in steady.

Jagger was an interesting character to me. He was sort of one of those characters that every other being feared so he lived sort of 'in between' the bad guys and the good guys, living a more solitary life, but his heart was all Khloe's without a doubt. Gotta love those sorts. And I liked that he didn't necessarily try to control the independent Khloe. He respected her space, even though it angered him in some cases, but he found his way around it by joining her with her missions.

Plus, the idea of a 'death demon' was pretty nifty in my opinion. I have to say I would be interested to read more about his brother.

Now that brings my to my next point, the action. The pacing was active from the very start and was steady for the entirety of the book. No lulling moments. I really enjoyed that because it made me want to continue reading and not put the book down. Before I knew it, I had flown through the book and was ready to read more.

All in all, I thought it was an enjoyable read. Now, I just have to go back and read the first book in the series so I'll be caught up when the third releases. :)

I really enjoyed this world that Lia has created. I made the mistake of reading this first, even though it was the second book in the series and I still thoroughly enjoyed myself. You definitely do not have to read the first book first, although, in hindsight, I probably would have.
When trying to pinpoint what it was I liked best about this book, I kept coming back to Kalissa. She is smart, brave, loyal, impulsive, and an all around cool chick. I found her to be one of the few heroines out there that I think I would really like in "real life". To be honest, I really liked a lot of the characters in this book, which surprised me. I usually like them as characters, but am glad I do not know them. Lia has this ability to create characters that I can easily related to and like and still be fascinating, fun, impulsive, and at times make really dumb decisions. I tip my hat to her for that. It is not an easy task to accomplish.
If you like hot paranormal reads with demons, gods, demi gods, witches, and more, this series may be just the ticket for you. It is a fun, quick read with adventure, heat, and para-awesomeness. I know that I plan to read the next one when it is released.

The second book in The Divinities series is just as magical as the first, if not more.

Khloe, one of the Divinities steps up and takes her place in the war between the demons and witches and she relies on no one especially a death demon named Jagger who says he is her guardian.

The heat between Khloe and Jagger radiates off the pages as the romance builds throughout the story, even as they fight their attraction. The suspense and action engage the reader as their enemies attack and keep coming up with new plots. The bewitching characters both previous and new ones are very captivating and add depth to this very passionate magical story.

The plot is fast paced and smooth flowing with lots of action, suspense, steamy romance, and unique and surprising twists that keeps you on the edge of your seat with anticipation of what’s next.

I loved the author’s Ashwood Falls series and this series doesn’t disappoint. The author has created a vivid and intriguing world that enchants the reader and leaves them wanting to know about these charismatic characters and paranormal war. I am looking forward to reading the future books in this series.

I always look forward to the next book in a series since the worlds and characters evolve.

I was not disappointed at all with Lia Davis, The Divinities series. In this book We get Khloe and Jagger's story and the belly laughs were many for me. Khloeis a character who jumps into everything without thinking things through and for a Demon and protector such as Jagger, let's just say Khloe is challenging. But not only is he her guardian he is also her fated mate. I love when an author brings a very strong, challenging female lead into a story where she refuses to accept her fate while fighting her attraction. It makes for one entertaining and very hot story.

Lots of twists and turns that will have you reading faster with intense anticipation of what comes next. The Divinities are a mix of mythology, fantasy and the paranormal all wrapped up in a very well written package.

Death’s Storm – The Divinities Book 2 – By Lia Davis

My Thoughts:

Death’s Storm is the second book in the Divinities series by Lia Davis.
Rules, there are always rules and for a lot of us following the rules is the way to go, but what happens when you don’t have a choice? Besides, some rules are meant to be broken, aren’t they?

Jagger finds himself in just a situation. As reckless as Khloe is sometimes, there are still boundaries that even she doesn’t want to cross.

I loved this book. I think it is a great continuation of the first book, Forgotten Visions and I am hoping there will be more books to come.

I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves paranormal romances.

This is book two of The Divinities series and the new character is Death Demon Jagger, who has been sent by the Goddess of Witchcraft, Hecate, to keep an eye on the Divinities, especially Kalissa and Khloe, but supposedly from a distance. Only problem is that he is attracted to Khloe and she has a habit of jumping into trouble feet first, without even thinking first. After her and her twin sister Kalissa’s parents were killed some two years ago, she had devoted her tech genius to finding the demons responsible and taking down as many as they can. Jagger has to jump in when Khloe steps in to save her sister and a friend, placing herself right in as the perfect demon prey sacrifice. Khloe has sensed that she has someone following and watching her, with a somewhat demonic taste, but senses they aren’t there to harm her. When she comes face to face with Jagger after he saves her, her body reacts one way, while her mind tries to tell her another. Memories of a painful time in her past and her last relationship with a human, don’t help matters. Hecate is the adopted mother to Jagger and his brother Lex (Alexander), after they lost everyone in their village to an attack by Khan’s demon army some three thousand years ago. Jagger didn’t ever believe he would have another be his fated mate, after losing his mate and young daughter, but it seems that Khloe is his!

Jagger is one of the last Death Demons, able to kill someone with just a thought, as can his brother. While he focuses on Khloe, he asks Lex to watch over Kalissa and the others. Lydia has lost much after her brother was killed in one of their last battles with demons, saving the life of one of the Divinity’s, but she has also lost her mate and her parents. Lydia is heavily pregnant so she is left out of the fighting where possible, but looking forward to a new life doesn’t stop the romance coming, as Zach seems to be smitten with her! Jagger was told by an Oracle that his future was bleak and he needed to open his heart to his love and also speak to his birth mother, even though he doesn’t know who exactly she is. It doesn’t stop him from falling for Khloe, who is beginning to like the big fella as well even if she sometimes still thinks of him as a demon, but a good one if that’s possible. On the demon side, instead of Divinities, they have Dark Divines and the demon Demetrius, son of Khan, has been taking them for his own dark uses, to help build his dark army. The Divinities can’t allow that to happen and need to discover where the children were taken to and to rescue them. Lots of fights with demons and sometimes they don’t all make it out in one piece, with the final fight leaving a very unexpected victim and a hard bargain made. I look forward to the next one now, so much is happening all at once. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Khloe was the computer genius in the family and was all action first think later. Jagger one of the last death demons alive and her guardian had to step in and save her, she hadn’t known that he was there. When she was fighting demons they put a power mutating cuff on her Jagger got it off. She was attracted to him and fought it for awhile, later she got iron poisoning to save her he had to bite Khloe. Jagger had already lost one mate so he didn’t think he would get another but quickly realized that he got a second one. Samoan was the demon’s daughter causing most of the problems she wanted to take over from daddy. Khloe impatient went to the warehouse and got caught was injected with a serum that brought out her black leopard Jagger found her plus in the basement they found the two missing divinities. Kristoff a tiger and Lydia’s mother who had been blinded. When Jagger was hit with some demon fire told his mother that he would give up his immortality and God given powers to stay with Khloe. Good book!.

H/h- Jagger and Khloe
POV- 3rd person
Genre- Paranormal Romance
Sub Genre- Witches
Heat- They do the thing and name the bits but not using the Big “C” word
Series? Y
Cliffhanger? Y
HEA/HFN? Y
Triggers- violence, erotic content
Trope- Opposites Attract
What I liked- excellent world building, heat between the two main characters, Jagger, the reason for Khloe’s aggression
What I didn’t- why get into hand-to-hand combat when you can use magic? It made the fight scenes a little clunky.
Verdict- Recommended. Read the series in order, and you’ll enjoy it.

Death's Storm is book two in The Divinities series and is Khloe's story. This book picks up where book one Forgotten Visions left off. Khloe and her twin have been searching for answers to the deaths of their parents. There's a lot going on in this book as we learn more about how the Divinities began and Jagger who is part demon is sent to protect Khloe. This is a captivating story and it held my attention from beginning to end. I look forward to reading the rest of this series to see what happens next. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

First off I want to say that I haven't read the first book, that will be remedied soon, and I think some of the issues I had wouldn't have existed if I had. The first chapter and a half was very confusing and I feel it was assumed that you were to know who the characters were already. I feel if there had been a little bit of intro for the characters, not as in depth as a first book would be but maybe just to establish characters for people like me who read book two first

Book two and we continue from book one in a world of witches and demons. Khloe’s lost her parents and relies on no one, Jagger is a death demon and has pledged his life to the Goddess of Witchcraft, Hecate. He and Khloe’s story is hot and so intriguing and with some banter and steam and they make a really good couple. It’s a great continuation of this series and I’m off to read book three!

Wow, this had one me gripped from start to finish. The characters are so well crafted. Both Khloe and Jagger are much darker than the protagonists in the first book of the series, and so much more complex. Very past paced this one is a fantastic read.

Second book in a great paranormal series. I haven't read the first book, so it took a little longer to figure things out. But I will go back and read the first book.

The series focuses around a group of witches trying to stop an evil man/demon. Most demons are bad, but thankfully Jagger, a death demon, is on the good side. Khloe is a Divinity (Demi-goddess) and is trying to stop Khan from destroying all she loves.

Lots of fighting and some steamy scenes, so for mature readers only.

I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of the book I received through NetGalley.
