I found this book on my bookshelf where it had been gathering dust for about 35 years and it became a bathroom reading companion since it's mostly comprised of many brief, easily readable sections. Thorn's historical knowledge shines through and he manages to combine entertaining (probably exaggerated if not entirely fabricated) old war stories with a review of what was at the time this was written, a look at advanced pitching metrics. The historical information alone is worth the read.
