Author Tori Carrington is the penname of husband and wife writing team Lori and Tony Karayianni.

Hands down, penning a bio is always the most difficult writing challenge we take on. What do we say? What do we keep a secret? Considering we've been writing together for over twenty-two years...well, that reveals more about us than anything you'll likely read here. We're fiction writers simply because we enjoy escaping into an exciting, colorful, fictional world of our own making. Take great, shameless pleasure in delving into the lives of others. Revel in living vicariously through our characters, trying on career hats we'd never otherwise put on, stretching muscles we'd probably be better off excercising in reality. We won't even discuss how our writing allows us to voice opinions on society, romance and human sexuality that aren't subject to public ridicule but rather presented as entertainment. To go there, well, we'd be revealing a little too much, now, wouldn't we?

So we'll stick to just the facts, ma'am -- or sir, depending on your preference, which may or may not have anything to do with your sex. Should you desire more information, feel free to e-mail us and we'll provide you with our phone number, or -- our preference -- arrange to meet with you one-on-one where we can learn as much, or perhaps more, about you as you will about us. Depending on our mood, we may spill everything we'd prefer to keep a secret, like which traits we would change about the other if given half a chance. Likewise, we may wisecrack our way through the interview, sprinkle our responses with what we find exciting about our latest book, and blissfully skate over personal details that might bare a little too much.

Trust us, this is not an attempt to create an aura of mystery. We're not quite that saavy. No, we're just very protective of our evolving selves and consider ourselves open-minded, known to change an opinion the moment we voice it or are presented with further information, so we're hesitant to commit any to writing. Guess we're very Socrates-like (as opposed to Socratic) in that way, which isn't altogether a bad thing..

So rather than dictate to you here, we'll lay out the basic facts, then provide a number of links to others who have interviewed us.

I'm (Lori Schlachter Karayianni) a Holy Toledo, Ohio, native, having attended Central Catholic but ultimately graduating from Macomber-Whitney with certification in computer science. After working in the computer industry for a number of years -- and after Tony and I endeavored to write our first novel -- I switched to temp work which ultimately led to a four-year stint as a secretary/sales clerk in the engineering and international sales departments of Owens-Illinois, the international container company that put the "glass" into The Glass City. I put the brakes on before I reached the five-year mark, however, the point of no return for most dreamers who get caught in the corporate trap (more vacation time? Better benefits? Probably I should stay until retirement).

Tony's background couldn't be more different from mine, but thankfully it led him to me. Born in Smila, a small hillside village in the area of Ancient Olympia outside Pyrgos, Greece, (where his family has deep roots and an older brother still maintains the family olive groves) he was raised in Athens during a time of political and cultural upheaval, although neither stopped him from becoming a drummer in a successful pop band that often played with Greek singer Teris Chrysos. He immigrated to the U.S. in late 1976 and with the help of the Greek community achieved the American Dream. Only the hunger for something more, the restless searching that originally compelled him to turn his back on his successful music career and brought him here, remained. It wasn't until after we'd become a couple, and he turned to me and suggested that we try our hand at writing, that both of us discovered the true meaning of th

This was the first book I have read by Tori Carrington and I am now addicted to her books. Skin Deep was an excellent read and I loved the chemistry between the main characters and all the *HOT* Scenes.

What I learned is this author is a very good writer. She builds great chemistry between her main characters. After reading Skin Deep I went out and bought some of her other books and can't wait to read them.

Skin Deep by Tori Carrington is a classic friends to lovers story. Kyra goes through boyfriends like they are Kleenex and Michael, her best-friend and co-worker, sits on the side lines and pines for her. After Kyra's most recent breakup, she decides to transform and Michael can't resist the new, more confident Kyra. But can their new relationship last?

This book was a very quick read and is a good "beach read". I have mixed feelings about the story. I liked the plot line, but I couldn't really find myself caring about the characters and that's a big problem. Kyra was too self-centered for my tastes and Michael just allowed her to walk all over him. I think I prefer my literary heroes to be a bit more "alpha male".

Michael and Kyra - coworkers (actually he's a partner/owner of the architect's firm and she's an accountant)... best friends for 4 years - since his old best friend married his fiance... and a low level of denied attraction, the friendship has meant more to them...

and she gets involved with jerks, and he cleans up the mess afterwards - and his tolerance for the jerks is getting thin... after breakup 13 in 4 years, he takes her to a bookstore (ahhh) a new bookstore that he found - and an hour and a half later she purchases a book that she doesn't show him...Sex Kitten 101

and the next night (after she left the office early) he shows up with ice cream, and she's had a wardrobe redo (to sexy, short, tight outfits) a sassy haircut & bleached blonde...

and 3 days later, and two hot kisses, she calls him over at 1 am for hot sex... and they have 2 weeks of hot sex - and coming close to committment... both have committment issues, but first her than him find that their love is the more important issue... ahhhhh

She proposes to him after picking him up from a construction site - taking him to a secluded section of beach with a picnic - seducing him into intense sex - blurting out her proposal... and it takes him another 2 weeks to figure out he needs her in his life. ahhhh

4 Stars! ~ Michael is an architect and partner in his firm. He's been Kyra's best friend since the firm hired her as a bookkeeper. He's always been attracted to her, and yet somehow, never asked her out. Instead, he's been her confidant and helped her each and every time she gets dumped by some jerk. Kyra is mortified when jerk # 13 publicly dumps her and compares her to a dead fish. When she finds "Sex Kitten, 101" at the book store, she's ready to makes some changes. Oh boy, does she make some changes. Gone are the long skirts and baggy blouses. On come the tank tops and skin tight skirts, and those impossible to walk in four inch heals Gone is the long brown hair. Now she's a sassy blond. You gotta love this transformation. Michael sure does, he can't seem to keep his tongue from hanging out, let alone the effect she has on his other parts!

Kyra has often had images of Michael in her sexiest fantasies. Now when she sees the lust in his eyes she's empowered. So she seduces him. When things get serious, she needs to prove to Michael that she's still the same ol' Kyra no matter what clothes she's wearing.

This was a sexy, fun read. The story is fast-paced and humorous. There are definite laugh out loud and big grin moments. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

I think I need to leave off the hokey romance stories for a while. This one just didn't tickle any of my fancies, and I typically like the authors' style of writing. "Skin Deep" is a friends-to-lovers story, with best friend Michael watching Kyra move through dates like changing socks. Kyra decides on a Jenny Jones makeover, things get hot and heavy between the besties, and the rest, as they say, is history.

My main disappointment with the book were the characters - Kyra was annoying, self-centered, and in some places, completely dense. How she thinks her new clothes, the sexually revealing, skin-tight leopard outfits, are appropriate for the workplace, is beyond me. Accusing her boss and best friend of sexual harassment when he tries to talk to her about it is beyond stupid. So, I had a hard time relating to the characters in this book.

(Romance/soft porn 2002) Light, quick read but a fun run. Kyra is best friends with Michael, but predictably the attraction between them is overwhelming and very physical. Not a whole lot of plot but enjoyable mind candy.

Steamy, but not too interesting of a plot. Predictable.
