This book is TYPO FREE with no grammar issues, thanks to our NEW EDITOR!
Our sleuth owns a donut shop that does so well she doesn’t have to be there to open or even be there all day. This is believable because my daughter worked at a bakery and the owner was an absentee too. Her former employee soon to be competitor who stole her recipes turns up dead. Did not really like this book, but I bought a set of the series when the ebook set went on sale and weirdly, I’m going to keep reading them, hence the 3 stars rather than 2. I didn’t like it because the our sleuth’s assumptions are a simplistic to the point of absurd; the cop tells her everything; parents disinherit a child for going into rehab — not for falling off the wagon, for going in to rehab. Also, too many loose ends for my taste. But, like I said, I’m going to read the next book in the series, so we’ll see, maybe things will get better….
These first 5 books lay the foundation for authors' later books; all seem to follow the same format. All the books appear to be the same just different scenes and different victims. Not sure I will continue to read her mysteries.
See the above. I do not want to rewrite the same thing all over even though that is what happens to the books.
The first five books in the Donut Hole Mystery series. I enjoyed reading all of the stories and I just started part 2 of the collection, which is books 6-10.
Five Donut Hole Mysteries in one set. You will be introduced to Heather Janke who owns Donut Delights. It is a gourmet donut shop in Hillside, Texas. Each mystery has a specialty donut featured which is mouth-watering!!! Heather also like to investigate on the side. In each book she get involved in five puzzling, separate murder cases. You will meet Amy, Heather’s best friend, Heather’s dog Dave, her employees and regular donut shop customers plus a handsome detective. *I received a copy of these books from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I love the convenience and bargain of a boxed set and this is the perfect summer vacation read. All five donut mysteries are quick, fun reads with likeable characters, witty dialogue, a smart protagonist with a big heart, interesting twists and turns. Cozy mystery fans will love this anthology.
Susan Gillard's Donut Hole series provides clean, short, entertaining reads. The plot line for each book is fresh. The characters are likeable and believable, making a visit to Hillside and the Donut Shop a nice way to spend an hour or two. Each book stands alone, but continuing character story lines mean more when read in order. Give the series a try, I think you'll enjoy it.
I requested and received an Advance Reader Copy of this book. My review is voluntary and the opinions my own.
