An infantry company's battle during the 1969 Tet Offensive. The Delta Dogs tells the real, gritty story of direct life and death combat engagements in Vietnam, which all too often resulted in the death of our young men and it was written as it happened. You will experience what it was like being an infantryman in the hot tropics of Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War.
This is a really good read. I bought this book from the author who had a table set up at the Veteran's Memorial in San Diego. The text is taken from the Major's journal. It is an inside look like no other. Kudos, and thank you for your service.
A no-nonsense retrospective of a company commander, a leader of men, engaged in brutal combat situations. Asks of us no sympathy as he recounts the facts. I was taken back in time to my service in Viet Nam a year or so later but in an entirely different set of circumstances. Much of what he described, to include military inefficiencies, grabbing for rank by those not worthy, rang true. I salute these Delta Dogs.
This book in my eyes is probably the best book i have ever read. Durgin gives us a great perspective of the war, and even i felt that i was right there with him. Also, this book shows respect to others, and how the war was really like hell. But i still wonder why people did and still do scold Vietnam veterans, and i salute Durgin for what he did.
